Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2963 Executing A Rat

Great Ancestor Zenflame saw the blade falling down on his neck from the corner of his eyes. He could see his end approach like the dark, but there was nothing he could do about it as his cultivation was sealed. Unless he used his blood essence, he couldnʼt see how he could break the forcible suppression imposed by this execution platform, but even if he did burn the blood essence, it was already too late to perform a defensive maneuver.

His defensive talismans were taken from him as well.

The sharp blade was already on his neck, carving through his nape as blood spurted ever so lightly.

Great Ancestor Zenflame pursed his lips, knowing that this would happen as he felt the cold chill seep through his spine. Closing his eyes, he awaited his death.

However, even after two seconds, he didnʼt die, causing him to blink as he saw that his head wasnʼt rolling around either. Finally, he turned his head towards a white-robed man who grasped the Peak Immortal Kingʼs arm with his hand, stopping him from beheading him.

”Inheritor!”

The Peak Stage Immortal King roared, appearing to be full of rage and emotion, causing Davion Jadelight to sigh.

”Donʼt be so quick to kill off our hostages. Besides, even if we can kill them, youʼre not the one here making decisions. Didnʼt you hear the Patriarchʼs words? Release them.”

”…!”

The executioner trembled. He had lost his brother in this war, so what he heard wasnʼt very appreciative but even piercing to his heart. He glared at Davion Jadelight, who stopped him before lowering his head, removing the blade that wasnʼt able to proceed any further.

Immortal Inheritor Davion Jadelight was too strong for him.

Shortly, the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs immortal inheritors were released from their binds. They were no longer just displaying their heads, waiting to be beheaded.

Hirona and Sierra glared at the executioner.

However, Great Ancestor Zenflame was indifferent to the fact that he almost died. After all, he retained the phoenix soul essence he was bestowed with and would revive upon death.

That was how far he knew that their hatred had advanced.

”If you want to kill them now, go ahead. I wonʼt stop you.”

However, Davion Jadelight added, causing the executioner to clench his teeth.

How under the heavens would he be able to defeat the founder of the Zenflame Family in a battle? That was overestimating himself.

”Come, I wonʼt dodge nor block your blade if thatʼs what will soothe the people of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan.”

But suddenly, Great Ancestor Zenflame pointed to this neck again, causing the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs people to be shocked. They thought he was being arrogant as soon as he was released but looking at his aura that became reserved instead of flaring, they couldnʼt believe it. He was defenseless at this moment, making them not able to understand.

Who the heck was this deviant immortal inheritor who didnʼt care about his life!?

Great Ancestor Zenflame looked as indifferent as ever.

In fact, he was prepared to die as a show of faith, wasting his ability to revive to get the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan to trust him. So having his life spared was a plus to him at this point. But of course, he wasnʼt a fool to die a second time. He was prepared to fight with all his power, killing his way out.

But a life was still a life.

No one would dare to waste it even if they had two lives, so Great Ancestor Zenflameʼs actions left the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan speechless.

”Hmph!”

The executioner harrumphed, turning around and leaving as though he was no longer willing to stay there.

His actions brought forth a minor amount of discontent among the people of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, not because the executioner disobeyed the King but because they also wanted to see a head fall.

But looking at the brazen, or perhaps, fearless Fire Phoenix Clanʼs immortal inheritor who was willing to make amends for his death, they felt more embarrassed than ever. Besides, they werenʼt the ones who captured them as they had basically presented themselves on a platter to them, so it felt all the more wrong to kill them with their valiant nature.

Seeing that the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs people finally stopped trying to kill him, Great Ancestor Zenflame dropped his hand.

Davis was also finished soul-scouring Great General Dural. The latter had woken out of his reverie, looking at the Emperor of Death with shock as he hadnʼt turned retarded yet. His heart pounded in apprehension, fear taking root in his heart as he came to understand that there was no way he could escape from the terrifying grasp of death.

He could only submit to it but-

”No!”

*Puchi!~*

The executionerʼs blade fell on Great General Dural, causing him to turn into a giant cyan soul rat that pushed away everyone in the vicinity. Copious amounts of blood flowed out from the ratʼs neck and head. However, they didnʼt seem to mind but even enjoyed this scene as they felt their hearts being soothed.

On the battlefield, the Cyan Soul Rat Clan was the most annoying and frustrating opponent to have as they launched soul attacks from a distance, never coming close enough to give them a chance to strike back.

They made some Generals mad, causing them to make a mistake and die, so their fury knew no bounds against the Cyan Soul Rat Clan, especially when they already had enmity with them.

Davis nodded at the executioner. He knew the other party was not the same executioner who tried to behead Great Ancestor Zenflame as he was indeed watching, even having the luxury to steer his focus elsewhere while soul-scouring.

Nonetheless, he panned his gaze and looked at the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs people. He could feel their sorrow reveling amidst their suppressed rage, but he had no words of consolation to offer them. Could he help them? Yes.

Could he revive Ancestor Riyard? Probably, yes.

Could he turn back the deaths of thousands of Immortal King soldiers and generals of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan? It was not possible since most of their soul essence had faded away, leaving him only the ability to revive the ones who had died very recently.

However, he wasnʼt going to revive anyone as it would only put him in a quagmire of danger, not to mention whomever he revived has a chance to flip their fates as they got revived by an Anarchic Divergent. Although he felt immense gratitude to the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, he didnʼt know these people personally for him to be restless with their deaths.

Instead, all he felt was the gratitude he held toward the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, but most importantly, his friendly bond with Patriarch Fenren Jadelight, increase. Without Patriarch Fenren Jadelight leading the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan to defend him, none of this would be possible.

Therefore, he felt an immense amount of guilt as he was too late to stop them from dying for him.

”Brother Fenren, I -”

”What did you learn from him?”

Davis pursed his lips as he was quickly cut off by the Starlight Jade Wolf King, causing him to purse his lips before he nodded.

”Naturally, this war was started by the Fire Phoenix Clan as we expected but seemed to have been emboldened by the presence of Venerable Warrior Zermatt. Each Great General and Patriarch who took part in this battle seemed to know about his presence, assuming that he would be able to get rid of the menace, which is me, even if they failed to do so.”

”Haha~” Patriarch Fenren Jadelight couldnʼt help but chuckle but maintained an inquisitive expression.

”Thatʼs all?”

”Well, the Fire Phoenix Clan and Cyan Soul Rat Clan also seemed to empty their coffers to hire assassins to assassinate your people, including mine, but since my people are safe in the Aurora Cloud Gate that had entered a state of security, it is almost impossible to intrude.”

”Thatʼs good. As for the assassins, I had the unexpected help from the Ghost Tear Hall because of you, so I guess weʼre even.”

Patriarch Fenren Jadelight nodded, but Davis was no longer able to remain silent about this war.

”Brother Fenren, I apologize for the disastrous trouble I have caused to your clan. Was it even worth going that far for me…?”

Hearing Davisʼs words, Patriarch Fenren Jadelightʼs eyes narrowed.

”Are you making a mockery of our brotherhood?”

Davis shook his head, ”Iʼm not. Regardless, do you not feel pained to lose so many people? Do you not want to punch me in the face?”

”I want to! I want to kick your ass for appearing so late!” Roared the Starlight Jade Wolf King, ”If only you had come a day sooner, I wouldʼve been able to keep my people from dying, but if you didnʼt show up, it would be even worse, but still my fault for believing you, so what are you apologizing for? Do you want to strain our manly bond with these redundant questions when we made our decisions to have each otherʼs backs!?”

”…!”

Davisʼs gaze shook.
