Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2747 An Inkling

”Was my question offensive to you?”

Seeing that Davis stayed silent, Myria asked him in an indifferent tone.

”A bit.” Davis nodded, ”But Iʼm also considering it, and even if she did, Iʼm not going to harm her but seal her cultivation and make things right with you.”

”...”

Myria stared at him for a moment, looking away, ”Itʼs not about me. I already told you that you experience hardship if you let her grow. On the other hand, Iʼm prepared to reap the consequences as I had watched you allow her to grow.”

”...?” Davis possessed an inquisitive expression on his face.

”Did you really think I wouldʼve entertained you, allowing your little sister to cultivate if I wasnʼt okay with it?”

”Perhaps,” Davis shrugged, ”Itʼs hard to tell, as I thought you trusted me and left things to me.”

”Indeed, I trust you, so I am staying on this island with you all without leaving. However, to allow a dangerous element to grow in oneʼs own backyard, Iʼm not that foolish.”

”Fine, fine. I do foolish things for family, so Iʼm not gonna bicker with you.”

Davis shook his head, ”I heard that Clara went outside the island in disguise along with Nadia and completed over eight missions under her supervision, even encountering and chasing down a Divergent in the process before almost killing that person, so I know what kind of danger Clara poses to us but at the same time, I will be the last person to not believe in her, understand?”

Davis enunciated his words at the end as he stared at Myria, causing her to stare back at him before she looked away again.

Taking Myriaʼs silence as a sign of acknowledgment, Davis nodded, ”In any case, I want to investigate before we all point fingers at my little sister. Is there any chance one of your people might have intentionally or accidentally exposed Bing Luliʼs existence? I donʼt want to rule out the possibility that this might be an accident.”

”Of course, you donʼt.” Myriaʼs lips curled, ”I can vouch that it isnʼt my people as I have already put them through needless stress to have them confess, but it turns out that they havenʼt done anything. The only ones I can think of are your little sister, the Reaper Soul Legion, or the three women you brought inside.”

”Three?” Davis narrowed his brows.

”Vereina. Sheʼs been visiting your place and mine, hoping to learn some skills.”

”That little...” Davis was astonished a bit, not expecting her to return.

She was the woman he kidnapped when he appeared in the First Haven World for the ʼfirstʼ time.

With how busy they were, he wasnʼt aware of Vereinaʼs return at all, and neither did his women bother to inform him, making him believe that her visit to his mansion was just on the level of saying ʼhelloʼ while she went and disturbed Myria upon suspecting that she was a Divergent after that thundering event during Bing Luliʼs revival, causing him to make sense of it.

Nevertheless, thinking of Vereinaʼs adaptability, he couldnʼt help but chuckle.

”Itʼs a surprise that she hadnʼt gotten killed by Clara upon setting foot here again, so I can still say that my little sister is still good. However, I donʼt think sheʼs the type to sell out her own kind, and as for the other two, Zahara and Mystic Diviner Hailac, both of them have little, if not anything, to do with you.”

Myriaʼs body shook as she silently laughed.

”Unfortunately for you, your entire family visited my mansion to spar with my disciples, and that included Zahara and Mystic Diviner Hailac.”

”...” Davis became stumped, raising his hand to point at her, ”You-”

He was speechless, wondering how she could allow anyone to enter her mansion when it was of the utmost importance to hide the fact that Bing Luli was still living.

”Of course, Bing Luli didnʼt participate in any of the sparring matches and still stayed hidden, so I would say that it remains a mystery to me.”

”...”

”Still, you want me to decline them next time? Sure. Iʼll send them all away the next time they visit my abode.”

Davis became taken aback as he looked at Myria, still looking away. He couldnʼt help but blink, wondering if she was sulking. It did seem like sulking, but he also couldnʼt tell if she was serious, causing him to sigh lightly.

”Alright, alright, donʼt be offended. Weʼre all one family but still, be careful. With me here, I donʼt want you to be hurt, nor do I want you to grow distant.”

Davis spoke in a mild tone before getting back to the topic, ”As for the Reaper Soul Legion, except Yotan, I donʼt think anyone would know if Bing Luli is still alive, and I can say for a fact that she would not betray me.”

Myria stayed silent for a few seconds before looking back at him.

”How can you say that? Sheʼs just your subordinate, isnʼt she?”

”...”

”You scoundrel.” Myriaʼs brows raised as she did not expect this behavior from him, causing Davis to raise his hands.

”Hey, I havenʼt done anything to her.”

”Then why did you pause right there?”

”Because things are complicated. In any case, I can tell that sheʼs not the traitor, but I have an inkling of who it is. Care to help me?”

”...?” Myria lightly smiled as her eyes squinted, ”You need my help to take care of the traitor? What? Is it one of your powerful women like Tanya or Nadia?”

If Davis needed her help, then she obviously thought that it was a situation that he couldnʼt handle, which could only mean that the traitor was a powerful person or perhaps, there was more than one.

”I think we have a big problem on our hands if what Iʼm thinking is true.”

However, Davis appeared serious, causing her heart to sink as well, ”You think there is an outsider hidden here?”

”Well,” Davisʼs solemn look was replaced with a blatant smile, ”Weʼll find out who it is among us, so listen to me very well...”

Just speaking of it, Davisʼs blatant smile became unsightly while Myriaʼs brows twitched, wondering what he was going to do as this seemed pretty over the top even for her to listen.

On the other hand, Everlight was completely stiff, knowing how cruel the man she admired could get.
