Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2707 Virtue Of The Phoenix

*Sss!~*

Scarlet flames surged from Mistress Zaharaʼs body, only to die in an instant as they disappeared into thin air.

Mistress Zaharaʼs expression became one of despair as she realized that even her immortal dantian was sealed, not to mention that a seal was placed on the magical beast core that disallowed her to transform back into her magical beast form. As a result, she tried to burn the energy fueling her cells, but then, she couldnʼt maintain it for even a second, causing it to disperse.

Her spatial ring was also taken away, along with any defensive items she had with herself. With that, she possessed no way to defend herself.

The only way remaining was to threaten someone with her own life, causing her to scream out in despair.

Tegon Zenflame came to a stop, his expression twitching. However, he still kept a smile on his face.

”Go on. Commit suicide.”

”...”

”You will still revive by virtue of the phoenix, and the innate burning scarlet flames will disallow you to commit suicide again. At that time, you may finally be free of restrictions, and I can say that you put up a fight, so I had no choice but to... teach you a lesson.”

Tegon Zenflame gestured with a smug expression on his face, ”Do you think an Immortal Beast like can do anything to an Immortal King Beast like me? I will easily subdue you.”

He reached out his hand, enclosing her figure with his palm beneath his gaze with an excited smile.

Mistress Zaharaʼs expression was full of hate at this moment. She couldnʼt believe a fellow Fire Phoenix displayed such behavior. She had thought she had distanced herself from the clan when she went to the Aurora Cloud Gate, but upon being contacted by the clan to somehow deal with the Emperor of Death, she was so honored and delighted to be relied upon, realizing that her heart was still with the Fire Phoenix Clan.

However, the circumstance that she was put in by the Fire Phoenix Clan itself made her heart sink.

”Good. Iʼll die trying...”

At this moment, a furious voice resounded out of Mistress Zaharaʼs mouth. Although it was weak, it was full of determination.

Scarlet flames began lighting up her body, and a wave of undulations released from her body began driving towards her as though being pulled. Then, a greater amount of pressure exuded from her body as though she was becoming dense, causing the spatial stability around the area to be affected.

Usually, a magical beast wouldnʼt be easily able to self-destruct as they didnʼt have a dantian. But for an immortal beast, things were different. They possessed an immortal dantian, allowing them to implode it just like human cultivators did.

However, Tegon Zenflame really didnʼt think this woman would go through with it. He didnʼt expect her to do what she said as she was just a young, naive woman in his eyes!

”Wait... wait!”

He instantly raised his hands, wanting her to stop, but Mistress Zahara seemed to give no signs of stopping. The flames consisting of fire energy, became unstable around her, wrapping her body ablaze.

He knew that the Fire Phoenix Clan wanted to punish her for some reason, but Rai Zenflame also enunciated for him to keep her unharmed. He didnʼt know the specifics but knew what he should do and what he shouldnʼt to keep himself out of trouble from the clanʼs just hammer.

”Iʼll leave, so stop!”

Tegon Zenflame instantly disappeared from the location as though he had vanished.

Only then did Mistress Zaharaʼs blazing eyes, which were already filled with the intent to end herself, slowly shudder, the unstable scarlet flames around her beginning to recede. However, having spent her last bit of energy to almost commit suicide, she fell to her knees, unable to stand up, feeling extremely lethargic as though life was seeping out of her.

The backlash from stopping to implode also caused blood to seep out from her mouth as it damaged her internal organs.

Barely maintaining consciousness, she looked around, noticing that the bastard had truly left. However, for him to disappear without even opening the closed door to this room, she wryly smiled, imagining that she was in his life ring.

It was no wonder the Aurora Cloud Gate wasnʼt able to notice her being kidnapped. She couldnʼt help but release a peal of mocking laughter at herself for being unable to notice this devious plan to kidnap her.

ʼI shouldʼve known...ʼ

When she discovered that Shirley had her blood, she knew she shouldʼve remained careful, but the unwavering trust in the Fire Phoenix Clan was something that blinded her eyes, causing her to be in this situation. Moreover, the man she was supposed to deal with and get back the inheritor warned her of this, but she remained trusting a bit, finally making her understand why she deserved this treatment.

Still, although the danger was over for the moment, she still couldnʼt help but feel a wave of sadness hit her, wanting someone to notice that she had been kidnapped.

”Yeyin...”

Mistress Zahara called out with some longing, only to become suddenly taken aback by her own words.

Why did she call for someone whom she hadnʼt interacted with much...? Just because they were half-sisters? If it was someone more reliable, shouldnʼt she be calling for the Aurora Cloud Gate or even the Emperor of Death right now, who seemed like he had no intentions to harm them despite standing on the opposite side?

If it was someone close, shouldnʼt it be Asra, her maid, or the elders that cared for her?

How was Yeyin supposed to help with her current strength? It didnʼt make any sense to her, but suddenly, she remembered Shirleyʼs words when they were once met at the Treasury; that she and Yeyin were once very close resounded in her mind, causing her lips to quiver.

”If weʼre truly close... then Iʼm sorry for hurling insults at you...”

Mistress Zaharaʼs eyes teared up, and the pain emerging in her heart made the tears flow down her face. She wished that she had interacted more, but with her being brought back to the sect to possibly face punishment or a similar kind of torture, she knew she wasnʼt going to meet Yeyin ever again.

However, she didnʼt regret her actions one bit. She still believed that the Emperor of Death was right in his actions to retain their inheritor as she was his wife. No one should take her away from him.

”If this is the consequence for that... then I will be... glad...”

Mistress Zahara cried as she closed her eyes. Her figure fell to the side and hit the ground side-faced while kneeling, appearing to have lost consciousness.

Outside, Tegon Zenflame sat on the deck of a flying boat, its destination heading toward the Western Fire Phoenix Prefecture that was nearby. The flying boat was almost near the border, but now, he clenched his teeth, appearing furious over the incident before, unable to believe that he had been driven off like that.

Looking at the life ring floating before him, he was so furious that he wanted to break it and cause a spatial collapse, but still, he calmed himself down and muttered a few insults under his breath.

Nonetheless, knowing that he was just a few million kilometers away from his destination, a sense of pride welled up within him. To be able to accomplish a secret mission given by the clan, he was extremely honored.

He reached out his hand, wanting to take the life ring back, when he suddenly felt a prickly sense of danger, causing him to speed up instantly. His hand encased the life ring.

*Puchi!~*

But then, his hand was severed, instantly disappearing from his view.

Blood splashed from his severed arm, causing pain to flood his mind, but then, his expression turned unsightly as he saw the purple-robed man with a scythe in one hand and his severed hand in the other.

”The defenses of this flying boat are worse than a normal one. Did you think you could kidnap a person if you flew in a harmless flying boat or something?”

Davisʼs voice was frosty as he swung the scythe in the next second, causing the flying boat to be instantly cut in half, which made them plunge into the sky.

”Bastard! Die!”

Tegon Zenflame roared in a furious voice, his figure shining with a scarlet light as he transformed into a massive Fire Phoenix, spreading its wings although half of its wings on the right end were already gone, unable to manifest because of the severed hand!

Immortal King Beastʼs undulations surged crazily from his body as he utilized his entire strength, manifesting into powerful scarlet flames that plunged toward Davis instantly!

Although he was beyond furious, he wanted to use this golden opportunity to kill Davis because he figured that this was even more of an achievement than bringing back Zahara, not to mention that he would be touted as a Divergent Slayer and be given the best rewards if he successfully escaped back to the Fire Phoenix Clan!
