Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2731 Torturing A Half-Bird

As the fiery glow faded amidst the vines that trapped the soul, Rai Zenflameʼs face became visible. But at this moment, his expression was miserable, to say the least, not to mention horrified as he didnʼt show an ounce of calm as he trembled like a cornered prey.

It was unknown what Deathseeker did to him, but Davisʼs eyes flashed with ruthlessness, slashing the pitch-black scythe at Rai Zenflameʼs soul.

”Ahhh! It hurts!!!”

Rai Zenflame let out a miserable scream as the scythe cleaved past him from head to toe, but his soul still held together, seemingly not having taken much damage.

Davis sneered, knowing that it was Level Nine Immortal King Stage Soul and that it could endure a lot of damage as his cultivation base was low enough not to inflict much damage.

*Ssh~* *Ssh~* *Ssh~*

Death energy reveled in the scythe as it made numerous slashes on Rai Zenflame, spinning like a tornado.

*Ssh~* *Ssh~* *Ssh~*

The unholy wind generated by his deathly scythe was so violent that Rai Zenflameʼs soul body was shredded away like dust, forming a red mist all over the place. His aura flickered, seemingly dropping, but in reality, it still could endure plenty.

”AHHHH!!!”

The blade of the scythe seemed to have transformed into a living creature, striking down relentlessly on Rai Zenflame.

*Ssh~* *Ssh~* *Ssh~*

The scythe again turned into countless sharp claws and shredded apart Rai Zenflameʼs flesh as if it were paper.

*Tapa~* *Tapa~* *Tapa~*

The sharp claws once again had transformed into countless needles and pierced the heart of Rai Zenflame as if it were a pincushion.

Rai Zenflameʼs soul was like a hedgehog at this moment, having gone completely silent as though he was defending, but the truth was that his soul was punctured so much that it couldnʼt let out a scream anymore.

He was unable to even tremble, appearing like a dead rat instead of a cornered rat.

Davis stopped slashing with his scythe, looking at Rai Zenflameʼs eyes tremble.

”Letʼs talk.”

Davis abruptly used his power to lift up the scythe and began to spin the blade like a propeller, chopping apart Rai Zenflameʼs hundreds of times.

*Ssss* *Ssss*

With his death scythe being used like a propeller, the black blade spun endlessly, slicing Rai Zenflameʼs soul into countless pieces as if it were a paper cutter. However, the soul still endured.

”AH! Bastard!!! Talkk!!! Weʼll talk!!!”

Rai Zenflameʼs miserable cry rang out once again. He didnʼt know why Davis attacked him once again after wanting to talk, but he wanted to grab that chance, like grabbing someoneʼs legs so badly as the pain stemming from his soul was unable to bear it.

”Huh? Bastard?”

Davis didnʼt stop spinning the death scythe, practically grinding the red mist out of Rai Zenflameʼs soul.

”Ahh! Stop!!! Iʼm sorry!! Iʼll do anything! Iʼll reveal anything!!!”

Still screaming miserably, Rai Zenflame had no choice but to accept the fate that came for him. With the green vines holding his soul in place, he was unable to counterattack, much less do anything.

”Ah-!”

Davis finally stopped, but with the mere flick of his sleeves, Rai Zenflameʼs gaze heavily shook as he released a horrified cry. This made the latterʼs expression turn unsightly, knowing that this fear had been engraved into his heart.

”Now then, reveal what you know about the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs true intentions. Why did you kidnap Mistress Zahara with Tegon Zenflame?”

”…”

Rai Zenflame maintained a moment of silence, gazing at Davis with both fear and hatred. His eyes glanced around, looking for a way out, but his heart sank, sensing two powerful people around him.

”I… We did it because the Patriarch asked us to take Zahara back to the Fire Phoenix Clan as she was going to be nurtured as the reserve Clan Mistress...”𝑓𝔯e𝚎𝒘𝗲𝚋𝒏oѵ𝒆𝒍. c𝗼m

”Really?”

Davis raised his deathly scythe, looking as though he was about to slash but then spun it lightly upon hearing Rai Zenflame continue.

”Wait…! I… I swear! Only after I almost… had you… did I understand that she was an inheritor.”

Rai Zenflame clenched his teeth as he shivered, feeling hatred against his Patriarch. If it werenʼt for that astounding message that stunned him, everything wouldʼve gone as he had intended, and he wouldnʼt have gotten caught in Tanyaʼs inheritance palace.

He believed only because of that was he reduced to this state.

Davis frowned, but he also didnʼt feel like the other party was lying, considering that Rai Zenflame, at that time, was too stunned to react to the palace absorbing him inside when it enlarged.

Normally, a Level Nine Immortal King wouldnʼt fall for that as they wouldʼve quickly retreated.

”Is there no other reason?” Still, he raised his brows and continued questioning.

”Even if there is, I donʼt know! The Patriarch didnʼt share much information. I swear!”

”I see.” Davis lightly nodded, keeping the deathly scythe at the back, ”Then what about the celebratory banquet that is about to commence in a month? Is the Fire Phoenix Clan planning to do anything devious to Shirley and me?”

”Not that I know of.” Rai Zenflame growled, still feeling the aching pain that occasionally caused his expression to twitch.

However, looking at Davisʼs unamused expression, his lips twitched.

”As much as I hate you and imagine that they were planning something devious against you, I havenʼt heard of anything. Most likely, the Fire Phoenix Clan has forfeited Shirley to you.”

Davis still looked unamused, turning to look at the pink-robed dragon-horned fairy.

”Lereza, suppress his soul.”

Lereza narrowed her eyes, but she still raised her hand and did as he said, a gaseous substance seeping out from her palm like dust. It was like the gentle dust pushed by a butterflyʼs flap. Moreover, the dust appeared pink rather than green, making it appear or smell like a fantastical mix of fragrances.

”Wait… what are you doing!?”

Rai Zenflame was on high alert, trying to struggle, but the gaseous energy that had manifested into vines still held him in place, refusing to budge at all.

Davis slowly rose to the air and extended his hand out. When his palm touched Rai Zenflameʼs head, he used the Mind Sea Extraction Mirage, causing the other partyʼs eyes to simply disappear. Rai Zenflameʼs soul heavily fluctuated, seemingly reviving all kinds of memories that were embedded in his soul to Davis.

”…”

Seeing this scene, Deathseeker was not only shocked but also pleasantly surprised. To be able to soulscour an immortal who was directly above a stage in cultivation base, he knew that it was because of this pink-robed woman who somehow made Rai Zenflame completely vulnerable, but it was also due to Davis who could withstand even the slightest backlash emanated by Rai Zenflameʼs soul.

After all, to be able to pry into something hard, the tip of the blade should also be durable, or else, the tip would be the one to break first.

After a while, Davis took his hand back, leaving Rai Zenflame heavily twitching, his head flinching as though he was experiencing a seizure.

”Strange… the Fire Phoenix Clan didnʼt seem to want to offend me.”

Davis saw that there was not much information about the banquet in Rai Zenflameʼs memories. The Fire Phoenix Clanʼs Patriarch, Killian Zenflame, also seemed to have commanded him to leave him and Shirley completely out of the picture until the banquet, leaving Davis genuinely confused about what was going on.

Does that mean that their allied relationship due to the Fire Phoenix Clan inheritors mediating between them was still on?
