I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 592, Can It Be Improved Even Further?

Su Bai finally selected a large stone to his front left. This stone was not particularly large in area, but it was quite conspicuous and would allow everyone to see its effects clearly.

He aimed the firearm and instructed, “Everyone, carefully watch.”

*Bang!*

Just as Su Bai’s words fell, a bullet shot out, directly striking the stone.

With the sound of the gunshot, a dent appeared on the stone, and wisps of smoke drifted from the dent.

All of this happened in a flash, leaving others no time to react.

“It is quite strong.” Su Bai could see the depth of the dent without needing to approach.

Although it was not particularly deep, it was about as deep as a thumb. Moreover, this was a strike against stone. If this bullet had struck flesh, the lethality would certainly be much stronger.

Even if that Ferocious Beast had armour, it could still be penetrated through, though it might not penetrate very deeply. Still, if one could target the opponent’s weak points…

*Siiii…*

Just as the bullet finished firing, suddenly a sound of sharp intakes of breath arose from the crowd.

They had also seen the bullet’s power and witnessed the dent in the stone. They began to imagine what would happen if this bullet struck their own bodies. It would certainly be unbearably painful.

“So powerful?” Yan Jiao could be said to be completely stunned.

Although he had lived for so many years and seen many things, this was the first time he had seen such a powerful weapon.

Of course, the strength he spoke of was not explosive strength. In terms of explosive power, it certainly could not compare to explosive packages.

However, explosive packages had a significant limitation. One had to set them up in ambush prior to them being used. Otherwise, there was no way to maximise their effectiveness.

But firearms were different. Firearms could be prepared from relatively far distances and could catch enemies off guard. Explosive packages could not match their versatility.

“As long as your aim is good enough and you consistently target the head, you can easily kill anything.” Su Bai put away the firearm.

This was simply a fact. On Earth, there were many sharpshooter teams whose aim was very accurate. They could target enemies’ heads from great distances and kill them. Those killed often did not even know how they died and were suddenly gone from the world.

“This thing is so powerful.” Cang Shi’s purple eyes widened considerably.

When he saw this thing, he was also extremely shocked. As expected, just as he had thought, this sort of thing truly could not be underestimated.

He thought to himself, [If I had that, I don’t think I would need to fear going outside.]

No matter what kind of Ferocious Beast it was, under the barrel of this firearm, they were nothing worth mentioning. If one bullet could not solve the Ferocious Beast, then two bullets would do.

Yan Hua and the others also watched with rapt attention. Although they had already prepared themselves mentally, when they truly witnessed this scene, they were still shocked for words.

They now developed a longing for this weapon. They began to imagine what it would be like to use such a weapon themselves.

“The firearm is so powerful. The time and energy spent searching for iron ores has not been in vain.” Sha Lan sighed.

Sha Lan had also watched without blinking. Having just seen the result, she was even more eager to try it herself, since her accuracy was very high.

“This weapon’s lethality is exceptional. Seems like we really don’t need to worry about the eternal night anymore.” Yu Ying immediately nodded.

Yu Ying had never anticipated that this weapon would be so strong. No, she should say she had not anticipated this weapon’s method of attack. No one had thought that the firearm would actually be using gunpowder to launch bullets, firing them using this stick-like thing.

*Bang bang bang…*

Su Bai manipulated the firearm to fire several shots in succession, wanting to see what continuous firing was like.

He also wanted to see how long the interval between bullets was, how long the operation time took, and so forth.

After all, this weapon was to be used for killing Ferocious Beasts, so it could not be too sluggish.

“All aspects are still acceptable, though there is still room for improvement. But, time is running out, so let’s leave it like this for now.” Su Bai said with satisfaction.

The improvement he spoke of was naturally the next iteration, a flintlock rifle. It would perform better than the firearm and would also be simpler to operate.

Of course, this type of rifle was also more difficult to manufacture. Without spending one or two months, there was no way to overcome the present challenges.

But they no longer had that much time left. There was less than half a month until the eternal night arrived, so they had to hurry and train with these firearms.

“Shaman, can this firearm be made even better?” Tai asked in shock, because this was something he desired as well.

He had been very fond of researching various things. Although he had been excited when researching the firearm, now that the firearm had been developed, he inexplicably felt a sense of emptiness.

However, having just heard that the firearm could be made even better, he was instantly interested again.

“Of course, but it will be some time before I can give you the blueprints. You can slowly research them.” Su Bai immediately sensed the other’s burning gaze.

[Like I thought, the people of the Flame Dragon Tribe are all ‘mad’. Everyone is exceptionally passionate about their work, which is a good thing. Though, so different from where I was from. Perhaps I had just spent too much time on Earth, where I often see people either cutting corners or being sneaky in their work?]

“Thank you, Shaman. I will definitely meet your expectations.” Tai immediately said. As long as there was research to do, it was better than doing nothing.

“By the way, will this firearm be very difficult to manufacture?” Su Bai asked. This key question still needed to be known.

After all, they needed to manufacture a batch of firearms before the eternal night arrived, and they also needed time for the Tribe’s Warriors to become familiar with these firearms.

“If we want every Warrior in the Tribe to have one, it will probably take more than a month. Overall, I should be able to make one per day. So, if the timeline is before the eternal night arrives, we would not be able to ensure that every Warrior in the Tribe owns one.” Tai said with difficulty.

Manufacturing firearms was certainly not simple. It required a great deal of time and effort. Even with his previous experience, one per day was already very rushed.
