I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 578, Piercing Cries

*Craw craw craw…*

The Ferocious Beast cries continued to sound incessantly, and the sounds were drawing ever closer while remaining completely incomprehensible to anyone.

“Shaman, the poison has been prepared, but the quantity is not very much.” Sha Lan anxiously brought out a bottle.

The item was an ordinary ceramic container but inside contained the poison that Co Co had developed.

“Good.” Su Bai took the bottle and called out. “Da Gua, Ah’Lan, Ah’Hua, you three come over here for a moment.”

“Yes.” All three responded in unison, gathering before the Shaman.

They all looked at the Shaman with great curiosity, wanting to know what their tasks would be.

“The amount of poison here isn’t much, which is why I called you over. You three are a few of the best sharpshooters in the Tribe, so I want you to prepare and apply all of this poison to your arrowheads.”

Su Bai passed the bottle over and continued giving instructions. “When the Ferocious Beasts appear, take them down.”

His plan was to have them use the poison to kill those Ferocious Beasts. After all, these Ferocious Beasts were unknown entities, and no one knew how strong they were.

Rather than engage in a fight to the death, it would be better to directly kill them with poison. This would also save considerable effort, and most importantly, it would allow them to test the poison’s potency.

If this poison’s potency was not great, there would still be room for continued development. If the poison’s potency was strong, then the experiment was done, and they could move on in focusing on production.

After all, these poisons would need to be kept for use during eternal night. Since they would need to be tested before eternal night arrived anyway, now was the perfect opportunity.

“Understood, I will definitely hit all of them.” Yan Hua’s expression was particularly solemn, thinking that finally there was something she could help with.

She had wanted to help as well, but thinking that the Shaman would definitely not let her go out, she had been somewhat worried. But now, it seemed she had been overthinking.

“Yes.” Da Gua nodded. His stone throwing was the most accurate, so this task could definitely be entrusted to him.

“I understand.” Sha Lan’s expression was also very solemn, not having expected that the poison would finally have some use today.

Su Bai raised his head to look at the sky, seeing only the continuous snowfall above, but discovering no trace of Ferocious Beasts.

He lowered his head and solemnly said. “You all go and prepare. Time is of the essence.”

Since this time involved the unknown, everything was uncertain, so preparations naturally needed to be more thorough. Otherwise, if any unexpected changes occurred, they would be caught completely off guard.

“Chieftain, distribute this Kerosene Fruit Juice and have everyone apply it to their arrowheads, and also attach torn linen to the arrowheads.” Su Bai continued his instructions.

What he intended to do was light fires on these arrows, then project them onto the Ferocious Beasts.

After all, many Ferocious Beasts feared fire. If so many fire-bearing arrows came charging at them, the opponents would certainly be unable to withstand it.

All preparations needed to be thorough. This was also preparation made in case those poisons proved to be ineffective.

“Understood, I know what the Shaman wants to do.” Yan Jiao instantly had a sudden realisation. This was the same as when they had attacked the Black Snake Tribe.

Since this incident had come too suddenly, he had not immediately thought of this.

As the Chieftain of the Flame Dragon Tribe, being unable to promptly think of countermeasures during crucial moments was indeed somewhat shameful.

Su Bai saw everyone beginning their busy activities and raised his head again to search for traces of the Ferocious Beasts.

The cries continued to sound incessantly, but similarly, it was unknown from which direction they were coming from, leaving everyone puzzled.

[My Danger Foresight has not alerted me until now. So, we should be safe for the short term] Su Bai thought to himself.

He kept walking back and forth, wanting to see if the Danger Foresight would suddenly sound.

Most importantly, he had also made preparations. As soon as he saw the silhouette of a Ferocious Beast, he would activate his Skill, Finger Gun.

However, this would only be done as a last resort. He still wanted to give the Tribe’s Warrior Trainees some training.

*Craw craw craw…*

The Ferocious Beast’s cries continued to sound, but this time was different, they could see silhouettes.

A gigantic winged Ferocious Beast appeared in the sky. Since everyone was looking up against the light, they could not see the Ferocious Beast’s appearance clearly.

Su Bai could see very clearly though. That Ferocious Beast’s appearance was rather similar to an eagle, but the difference was that its body size was extraordinarily large, a full ten metres long. When those wings spread out, they were both long and wide, three times the size of its body.

The only difference from an eagle was that it had grown a pair of long sharp horns on its head. That pair of horns charged forward like bull horns, with a length of fifty centimetres. Their sharpness was evident at a glance.

[Damn! This Ferocious Beast is huge. If we can slaughter it without poison, it would make for a hearty meal!] Su Bai though while looking up.

Seeing that Ferocious Beast circling in the sky, his first thought was that this would also make a grand feast.

If they could successfully hunt it, its meat could certainly be distributed to the majority of the Tribe’s people.

“Ah’Hua, and the rest with poison, wait for now. If the rest can’t take it down, then you can use the poison.” Su Bai changed his plan.

Initially he had not known how large this Ferocious Beast was, but now that he had seen it, he wanted to capture it for food. If it got poisoned, that would be problematic, since all the meat would be inedible.

“Yes.” Although Yan Hua did not understand, she still nodded.

The Warriors had all seen this Ferocious Beast as well. This Ferocious Beast’s appearance was something they had never seen before.

Moreover, when this Ferocious Beast had flown out, it had not directly sought prey, but instead kept circling in the sky.

It seemed to be waiting for something while also wanting to find a target, so its gaze kept looking downwards.

“Everyone, get ready. Do not give it time to choose. Light the arrows and fire them.” Su Bai commanded.

Seeing the Ferocious Beast’s gaze, he could roughly guess what the opponent was waiting for, which was why he issued the command.

“Yes.” The Warriors all shouted in unison, then brought out their bows.

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh…*

A series of air-splitting sounds rang out as those arrows, all lit with fire, flew towards that Ferocious Beast.

For a moment flames blazed everywhere. The originally dim sky was suddenly illuminated, and when those burning arrows met the falling snowflakes, those snowflakes instantly melted.

*Craw craw craw…*

That Ferocious Beast clearly had not reacted in time. Its wings were struck by quite a few arrows.

Originally it had still wanted to dodge, but there were simply too many arrows, and it could not dodge them all.
