I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 581, Items That Symbolise Status

Su Bai took out paper and pen and began drawing. This time, he was no longer drawing weapons.

Previously, for a period of time, he had frequently taken out materials to draw weapons, wanting to create some weapons suitable for actual combat. Alternatively, he wanted to create some weapons that were relatively lightweight but possessed powerful lethality. However, this was not an easy task, so progress on this matter was developing slowly.

Since the Ferocious Beasts had already been dealt with, he now had time to draw.

That Ferocious Beast, which would bring with it a disaster, had subsequently appeared three more times. However, they had all been dealt with using the same method as before.

“Shaman, what are you drawing?” Yu Ying asked. She had been watching from the side for a long time, but still could not make out what those things were.

“I’m drawing necklaces,” Su Bai said softly.

This morning, he had taken out paper and pen to draw necklaces, because previously Cang Shi and the others had found many jadeite ores in the cave.

Originally, the Tribe had only possessed one piece, which had been obtained in exchange at the Spotted Deer Market.

At that time, since it was only such a small piece, crafting with it would be too troublesome. So, he had simply left it stored in a box.

However, now that many other jadeite ores had been discovered in the cave, he had conveniently taken that piece out, along with the other ores to have them crafted together.

“Necklaces? But Shaman, these are different from what the Tribe members wear.” Yu Ying said, tilting her head.

Yu Ying knew about necklaces, because many Warriors in the Tribe or women who loved beauty would wear them.

Those necklaces were all made from Beast Bone or from various strange stones tied together. In any case, to Yu Ying, they were not particularly beautiful to look at.

It was just that the more necklaces one wore, the more it symbolised one’s status, because not everyone could afford to wear necklaces. Unless one’s Family had Warriors who could receive some Beast Bones as their share, or unless one could obtain some rewards, they would not be able to craft these necklaces.

“These are completely different from what those in the Tribe wear.” Su Bai smiled.

What he had drawn were all relatively simple and elegant. Each consisted of just a chain with a single pendant, unlike the complex Beast Bone necklaces.

“But these look so small. When worn, they wouldn’t be that noticeable.” Yu Ying said, carefully examining the drawings.

Yu Ying noticed that what was drawn on paper were all very small, completely different from the Beast Bone necklaces worn by the Tribe.

The necklaces worn by Tribe members always look towards more things, and the larger the better. They would want the entire necklace to appear complex, with large pieces. This way, others could see the necklaces they wore, which would make others respect them even more.

“These are called jade necklaces. Wearing them will look better than wearing Beast Bone necklaces. People who possess these will have an even more noble status.” Su Bai explained.

He was also aware of this unspoken rule within the Tribe, but when he designed the jade necklaces, he personally did not want to make the necklaces large.

It would appear very flashy and impractical and would not look good. Most importantly, it would be a tremendous waste of jadeite ores.

On Earth, the price of each jadeite ores was very high, even without being refined to become jade. So, even though there was a mine here, he could not bear to squander such natural resources.

The source of jade necklaces was definitely more scarce than the source of Beast Bone necklaces, so naturally, people with jade necklaces would have a higher status than those with Beast Bone necklaces.

“So, this is jade. Shaman, is this the stone that was exchanged from the market last time?” Yu Ying remembered this stone, because it was truly beautiful.

“Yes. Once they’re crafted, you can also wear one. It will definitely look better than Beast Bone necklaces.” Su Bai smiled.

He was already beginning to anticipate the resulting jade necklaces. At that time, he anticipated they could be used to exchange for quite a lot of dried meat.

He had originally thought that in this Primitive Era, everyone would be impoverished, and each person simply made do with their lives.

However, he had not expected that in this Primitive Era there were also distinctions between people. There were people who possessed very many things, equivalent to the wealthy on Earth.

These jade necklaces, along with the perfume created previously, targeted precisely these ‘wealthy’ people. They would definitely be willing to offer many things in exchange for these rare items.

After all, the cost was nothing to them. They did not need to worry about food or necessities; what they worried about was not having things that could elevate their status.

If they knew that perfume and jadeite could separate them from other people, they would definitely go mad with desire to obtain them.

Su Bai’s idea was to initially develop the Flame Dragon Tribe into a market-like Tribe. For that, having such unique goods was indispensable.

Relying solely on ceramics and linen would definitely not be enough, which was why he had conceived of perfume and necklaces. These two items could attract even more people.

“Shaman, I don’t need one. I’m busy with many things every day. Giving me something like this to wear would be wasteful.” Yu Ying repeatedly shook her head. She was happy she could receive such a beautiful necklace. After all, there was no girl who did not love beauty. However, she had roughly heard from the Shaman how precious they were. So, she naturally dared not accept it.

“You are my Shaman Priestess. How can you not have one? If you don’t wear it, others will think I treat you poorly. Also, you must let others know of your status.” Su Bai said seriously.

He was not really very concerned about others’ opinions, but if he did not say this, Yu Ying would definitely continue to refuse.

“That does seem to make sense. Shaman, you’ve treated me so well. I definitely cannot let others misunderstand.” Yu Ying nodded heavily.

After thinking seriously, Yu Ying felt that she still could not let outsiders gossip about the Shaman.

“Take all these drawings to Uncle Gu Mu. Tell him these stones are very precious, and he must be careful when carving them out.” Su Bai handed over the drawings in his hands.

These delicate tasks were most suitable for Gu Mu to handle. Although a one hundred percent error-free rate could not be achieved, waste could be minimised as much as possible with expert hands.

Moreover, looking around the entire Tribe, only Gu Mu could do this type of work. Only he would not harbour ill intentions upon seeing these precious materials.

“Understood. I will definitely convey the Shaman’s instructions.” Yu Ying immediately said.

Yu Ying began to anticipate the birth of these jade necklaces, wondering what they would look like when completed.

*Step step step…*

Su Bai watched Yu Ying’s departing figure and began contemplating the next matters.

The Tribe’s iron ore had also begun to be refined. The Tribe needed iron in many places.
