I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 570, Route

Snowflakes continued to fall incessantly, and the weather grew increasingly dim, feeling as though the sky was about to press down upon them.

In a forest devoid of any leaves, Cang Shi led the group as they advanced rapidly.

They had already left the Flame Dragon Tribe several days ago, from initially searching for iron ore and copper ore to now preparing to return to the Tribe.

Yes, they had already found both copper ore and iron ore, all discovered within a single cave.

That cave also contained many strange and peculiar ores. They did not know what these ores were, but they all thought to bring some back for the Shaman to examine, as they might prove useful to the Tribe.

“This time, we’ve brought back so much, it should surely be enough for the Tribe to use,” Wa Ming said, hefting the large rucksack on his back.

When he first saw these ores, he became very excited, wielding his small hoe and mining with great enthusiasm.

He was like someone who had spotted something delicious, with all his attention focused entirely on those ores.

“The Shaman seems to need to craft many things. I wonder if these are enough.” Cang Shi said, with his back laden with numerous ores.

For this expedition, they had deliberately used very sturdy Animal Hide to sew several large bags, specifically to carry more ores back.

Inside the Animal Hide, they had also sewn very strong vines around the edges to make the Animal Hide Bag even more robust.

“I wonder what these two types of stones can be used to craft? They don’t look much different from ordinary stones.” Qing Mu said with puzzlement.

Although he had been with the Shaman in the Tribe for quite some time, he still could not understand what these things were meant for. However, he believed that the Shaman would certainly be able to craft excellent items, as evidenced by many previous items.

“Anyway, they’ll be useful once we bring them back. I heard that iron ore can be used to craft weapons, and these weapons are very effective against those maddened Ferocious Beasts,” Chi Tu said.

Having spent considerable time beside the Shaman, he had picked up bits and pieces of information. He had heard about using iron to craft firearms last time as well.

“If that’s the case, then that’s wonderful. We must hurry and bring these things back,” Qing Mu said, tugging at his bag.

Anything related to the Tribe’s development made him extraordinarily earnest. Even though leaving the Tribe this time was very dangerous, he had followed along without hesitation.

“Let’s not talk for now and conserve our energy. No one knows what dangers we might encounter ahead, and it’s been snowing heavily now.” Cang Shi cautioned.

They had finished mining the ores and were now on their way back to the Tribe. Mining ores was no easy task.

The group had spent a full day and night without sleep to mine the ores that each person now carried on their back.

Those ores were all firmly embedded in the cave walls or buried deep in the earth. The surface ores were relatively scarce, and any that could be easily mined had already been extracted, leaving only the ores within the walls that required hoes to dig out.

“You’re right. We still have some distance before reaching the Tribe, and we absolutely cannot let our guard down.” Wa Mang reminded everyone, reaching to touch his large belly.

Ever since leaving the Tribe, his nerves had been extremely taut. Having been injured before, he now dared not be careless.

“No matter what, we must protect these ores well. After all, we travelled so far from the Tribe to find them.”

Cang Shi also adjusted his Animal Hide Bag and continued to caution, “These ores are very helpful for the Tribe’s development. Since we’ve taken so much effort to mine them, we must bring them all back to the Tribe.”

He spoke thus to make everyone understand the gravity of the situation and the importance of the ores to the Tribe. No matter what, they had to bring them all back.

“Understood!” The Warriors all replied in unison.

Everyone struggled through the thick accumulated snow, continuously advancing in the same direction.

During the snow season, it snowed every day, and the snowfall was tremendously heavy. The ground had long been covered with thick layers of snow. Although the group’s progress was neither swift nor easy, everyone remained extremely cautious. They did not lower their guard just because the path was difficult to traverse. While trekking forward, they also had to observe their surroundings.

Some Ferocious Beast would not rest just because the snow season had arrived. The snow season had its own unique Ferocious Beast, whose lethality was no less than that of Ferocious Beast found during the other seasons. In fact, since they could survive in the harsh environment of the snow season, one could imagine how formidable their combat abilities were. Therefore, the group dared not let their guard down.

“Do you remember the route to the ores?” Cang Shi suddenly asked.

Because he had to protect the safety of all the Warriors while continuously searching for where the ores were located, he had become somewhat confused for a moment.

“We two remember it. We know where it is,” Ai’er’s clear voice rang out.

The butterfly girl also carried a large bag in her hands. Her stamina was not as great as the others’, and since she needed to flap her wings to fly above, she could not bear too much weight.

She could only pack everything into bags and carry them in her hands. This way, she could scout ahead while helping to share some of the burden to carry ores.

“Good that you remember. I was just worried about forgetting and having to search for it again.” Cang Shi nodded.

In his heart, he was thinking that he must hurry back to the Tribe to tell the Shaman of this good news, because that cave contained an enormous quantity of ores—various types of ores that were too dazzling to behold.

Initially, Cang Shi did not know that those were ores. Of course, apart from iron ore and copper ore, these two had samples for comparison.

The reason he said he did not know those were ores was because the cave also contained many other ores that looked not much different from ordinary stones but were also quite strange. He guessed that those were ores and mined some to bring back.

“After the snow season passes, I can lead more people to come here and mine for ores, as long as the Shaman needs them.” Cheng Shi suddenly volunteered.

He was still very satisfied with his goggles. Although he had to carry heavy ores, he would still touch his goggles from time to time, as if afraid they might fall off.

“Yeah. Okay, let’s quickly move.” Cang Shi urged.

Although it was midday, the sky was already very dark with wind and snow everywhere, so they needed to hurry along.

“Let’s put in more effort so that we can return to the Tribe by tomorrow morning.” We Mang also encouraged from the side.

He could be said to be the most tired, because his build was larger than the others’. Moving about while carrying such heavy items inevitably made him somewhat encumbered.

Of course, his stamina was still many times better than that of ordinary people. It was just relatively poor when compared to the other Totem Warriors.
