I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 576, Inexplicable Fear

Kai and rest mustered their courage and walked towards the outer region of the Tribe, while at the same time advancing together with the Tribe’s Totem Warriors.

Because this commotion was too loud, it had alarmed everyone in the entire Giant Bear Tribe, so the Totem Warriors and Warrior Trainees had all rushed to the scene at the first opportunity.

All the others stayed obediently inside their wooden houses. Although they had also heard this enormous noise, there was nothing they could do about it.

Moreover, they did not have spare Animal Hide clothing, so going outside would only result in them being frozen half to death. It was better to stay obediently inside the wooden houses by the fire.

In any case, the safety of the Tribe only needed to be entrusted to the Warriors. They need not worry about such matters. Furthermore, the Giant Bear Tribe was a very Large Tribe, and since the Tribe had been established for so long, nothing major had ever happened before, so they did not feel the need to worry too much.

*Step step step…*

It took Kai and the others another hour to completely reach the outside of the Tribe. Although the Giant Bear Tribe was a Large Tribe, it would not actually take two hours to walk from the centre to the outside.

However, it had taken the group nearly two hours to walk from the centre of the Tribe to the outer region. In normal circumstances, it would only take a little more than forty minutes.

As soon as Kai walked to the outside of the Tribe, he discovered that the Tribe’s main gate had completely collapsed.

He widened his red eyes, looking at the collapsed Tribe gate with bewilderment, saying: “What’s going on?”

“How did the gate collapse for no reason? Could it be because too much snow weighed it down?” Luo also felt very shocked.

He had not expected that the Tribe’s gate would suddenly collapse. After all, since the Tribe had been established for so long, this sort of thing had never happened before.

“I don’t think that’s it. Look, near where the gate collapsed, there are footprints. These are clearly from Ferocious Beasts.” Li’s sharp eyes immediately spotted the problem.

When she had just arrived at the gate area, she had carefully surveyed the surroundings. At first, she had also thought the gate had been crushed by snow, but after careful observation, she discovered the anomaly.

“It’s true. There are footprints nearby and many feathers as well. This is the work of a Ferocious Beast. Are they unable to wait any longer?” Lan frowned, feeling that the situation seemed to be developing in a serious direction.

“All Warrior Trainees go and patrol the surrounding area. All Totem Warriors, stay alert. Ferocious Beasts have invaded.” Shan commanded.

He was the Chieftain of the Giant Bear Tribe, so he had naturally noticed these anomalies long ago. This was also the reason his expression was so solemn.

Although he was getting on in years and had been managing the Giant Bear Tribe for some time, he had never heard of Ferocious Beasts invading during the snow season. This was the first time, and moreover, the Tribe’s gate had been directly crushed. This made many feel uneasy.

“Yes.” The Warriors all responded in unison.

*Step step step…*

Waves of heavy footsteps sounded as the Warriors stepped through the thick accumulated snow, scattering towards the surroundings.

Everyone’s expression was solemn. They all knew this matter was odd, so no one dared to be careless. They all held their respective weapons while patrolling the surroundings.

“What kind of Ferocious Beast do you think it will be this time?” Kai asked curiously.

“I don’t know, but looking at those feathers, it should be Bird Type Ferocious Beasts.” Luo speculated.

Most ordinary Ferocious Beasts had fine fur, or else scales or were hairless. Feathers like these definitely belonged to Bird Type Ferocious Beasts.

“It should be very large. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to crush our gate.” Lan frowned.

The Giant Bear Tribe’s gate was extremely tall, a full ten-odd metres high. It was made by felling very tall trees. Furthermore, its width was also wide, and were bigger than the logs used to create the surrounding wooden walls.

*Craw craw craw…*

Waves of low bird calls continuously sounded around the outer region of the Giant Bear Tribe. The sound was extremely deep and resonant, and moreover, the sound that emanated made it impossible for people to know which direction it came from.

Everyone instantly tensely surveyed the surroundings. This wave of low bird calls made them somewhat afraid.

They immediately raised their heads to survey the surroundings, but did not discover any traces. These sounds also continuously sounded around them, making it completely impossible for people to distinguish the direction.

The unknown was the most terrifying. Everyone could not find any clues, yet the sounds kept ringing out continuously. This feeling tormented them to the point of extreme pain.

“Did you hear that? Where exactly are these sounds coming from?” Kai’s face was filled with terror.

He also did not know why this was happening, but this sort of low sound sounded extremely frightening. He could feel fear welling up as it kept playing.

“I heard it, but I have no idea where it’s coming from. Moreover, listening to the sound, it seems like there’s more than one of them.” Even the originally very composed Li’s expression became somewhat less composed.

“Everyone, be extremely careful. This Ferocious Beast seemed to be very dangerous.” The weapon in Lan’s hand was gripped very tightly.

Luo kept shaking his head, trying to discover something in the sky, but this was merely a futile effort.

He fiercely swallowed a mouthful of saliva. After a long while, he managed to squeeze out one sentence. “We must be very careful.”

He had already been frightened to the point of not knowing how to speak. Although they were not Totem Warriors, they would not normally worry to this extent.

Kai and all the others stood back-to-back, holding weapons pointed at the sky, thinking that doing this should cover all areas.

*Craw craw craw…*

The bird calls continued, driving fear into those seeking them out.

“They can appear anywhere! Make sure you are on guard!” Shan warned.

Because he was a Totem Warrior, he was not afraid, but he was worried. After all, this kind of situation had never occurred before.

No one knew exactly how strong this Ferocious Beast was, and even less did they know how many of these Ferocious Beasts there were.

“Yes!” The Warriors responded in unison. They all widened their eyes looking at the sky.

Apart from the Totem Warriors, all the other Warrior Trainees were afraid. However, they were all at a loss, because they could not find any traces of the Ferocious Beasts at all.

“Let’s all keep close and have each other’s backs.” This was the only method Kai knew of.

He knew they could not show their backs to the enemy, they had to stay back-to-back.
