I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 561, Child of Destiny

*Woof woof woof…*

*Creak creak…*

Three sleds were advancing rapidly across the icy surface, leaving several long scratches on the ice behind them.

Wherever the sleds passed, fine ice fragments flew up, forming a beautiful sight across the wide river surface.

Yan Hua and the others were travelling rapidly forward. This was the afternoon of their departure from the Green Vine Tribe.

They had stayed overnight at the Green Vine Tribe, and the experience could be described as thoroughly unpleasant.

“I didn’t sleep comfortably at all last night…” Sha Lan kept rubbing her neck, feeling as though she now had a sore neck.

This was an unfamiliar discomfort for her. Previously, when she had lived in the Flame Dragon Tribe, she had felt quite well. Even when things were bad, she did not feel this level of discomfort.

Things just gradually improved with Su Bai taking charge of the Tribe, and comfort became more and more abundant. It was only after experiencing better things that returning to this previous state felt uncomfortable.

As the saying goes, ‘it is easy to go from frugality to luxury, but difficult to go from luxury back to frugality’. Once people have experienced the good life, they were unwilling to return to their previous way of life.

Moreover, the Flame Dragon Tribe was amazing and kept on improving. Every day, whether it was what they ate, what they wore, or where they slept, everything was comfortable.

Suddenly experiencing what she had to live through in the past was naturally unpleasant, especially when it was so cold during the night.

“I know right? I can feel my entire back aching now.” Yan Hua rolled her eyes. She kept tossing and turning without being able to fall asleep last night.

She could be said to have kept her eyes open until dawn, her pair of red eyes constantly staring at the roof of the wooden house.

When she got up this morning, she felt as though her entire back had been beaten and was in terrible pain.

“Although it was not impossible for me to sleep, it was too cold. If it hadn’t been so cold, it would have been bearable…” Sha Lan and the others were not pampered individuals. They could still sleep when returning to that previous environment. However, the biggest problem was that it was too cold. The Animal Hides they were provided as covers were too thin, and cold wind easily penetrated from the sides of the wooden house.

“This just shows that our Tribe is the best. At least when we sleep at night, we don’t get cold.” Yan Hua said.

Clearly, having left the Flame Dragon Tribe for only two days, she was already beginning to miss it.

“Fortunately, we brought food with us, so the eating won’t be that bad.” Sha Lan said with relief.

Sha Lan had eaten preserved meat last night, and the taste had been great, certainly better than eating dried meat at the Green Vine Tribe.

Moreover, the Green Vine Tribe would not necessarily welcome them warmly, since having several additional people meant dividing more food amongst them.

During the snow season, food was extremely important. Having to suddenly share more food with others would naturally make them unhappy. Therefore, Sha Lan and her companions had been considerate. This time, they had brought their own food, not only to avoid having to see their nasty expressions, but also to avoid eating those unpalatable foods.

Although they themselves had previously eaten the same way, having become accustomed to delicious meals made it rather difficult to go back.

“Let’s quickly complete the mission, then we can hurry back to the Flame Dragon Tribe.” Yan Hua said.

Although she had previously wanted to come out and explore, now that she was actually out, she discovered how excellent the Tribe was, and now she truly wanted to return.

“You’re absolutely right. In a few more days we’ll be able to go back.” Sha Lan blinked her blue eyes.

Sha Lan began to look forward to it, swishing her cat tail. The mission had not even truly started, but she was already thinking about returning home.

“I wonder what the environment of other Tribes will be like? This is our first time going out like this, isn’t it?” Yan Hua asked.

Yan Hua and her companions had never really left to visit other Tribes before. They had almost always remained at the Flame Dragon Tribe, and even when they had gone out, it had only been to train in the forest outside.

The furthest places they had been to were the Tribe’s Hunting Ground or the ocean, but even then, they had gone with people from the Tribe.

“Didn’t you go to the Spotted Deer Tribe before? This is your second time. This is actually my first time, so I know even less about what other Tribes are like.” Sha Lan said softly.

Although Sha Lan wanted to see what other Tribes were like, what she most wanted in her heart now was to return to the Flame Dragon Tribe.

Although returning would mean many busy tasks and daily training, she now missed those feelings . After completing a day’s training, returning to the Yong’an Building to eat hot food, and sleeping in a very comfortable bed at night, these were all small forms of joy.

“That’s true. The Spotted Deer Tribe also consisted entirely of wooden houses and looked quite impressive at first. During this snow season, they probably won’t have too difficult a time either.” Yan Hua said.

Yan Hua had had this feeling when she had seen the Spotted Deer Tribe. At the time, she had thought what a Large Tribe it was, and that they surely did not lack food, water, or clothing.

At that time, it was because the Flame Dragon Tribe was in a developmental stage, and many aspects had not yet been perfected yet, so she had felt somewhat envious.

But now it was different. Now the Flame Dragon Tribe had developed to the point where, although it was not perfect, it was still better than any other Tribe.

“Why does the Green Vine Tribe have so few houses? Why didn’t they build more when the snow season was about to arrive?” Sha Lan asked with confusion.

Because Sha Lan had seen that many people in the Green Vine Tribe were still living in Teepees. If sleeping in wooden houses was already very cold, then Teepees would be even worse.

After the snow season ended, the people living in Teepees would very likely see many deaths. Most of them would starve or freeze to death.

“Perhaps they were too busy hunting. After all, the snow season is about to arrive, and there is no manpower to build wooden houses. They must have been thinking about quickly stockpiling food instead.” Yan Hua speculated.

Only this reason made sense. Otherwise, the people of the Tribe could not possibly have watched those people freeze to death with their eyes wide open.

“Even if they were busy hunting, they should have considered those people. If the Tribe suddenly loses so many people, how would the Tribe develop?” Sha Lan found this behaviour somewhat incomprehensible.

She now suddenly realised how great Su Bai was. He considered both the Tribe’s development and the Tribe’s people. He was truly a Child of Destiny, blessing them.

This single point alone was something that no other Tribe could match.

“They’re Shaman is not the same as ours. Meeting our Shaman was our good fortune. They don’t have that good fortune.” Yan Hua said.
