I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 554, Recruiting New Personnel

After Su Bai had finished arranging tasks for Co Co, he took out his blueprints and continued with his planning.

Before the snow season had arrived, he had been extremely busy, so many matters requiring planning for the Tribe had not been addressed properly.

Now during this period of leisure, he had time to plan more extensively for the Tribe’s development. After all, they were aiming to develop into a city, so they certainly could not remain stagnant at their current level.

Although the current Flame Dragon Tribe had already surpassed other Tribes by several levels, they absolutely needed to continue developing. Otherwise, relying solely on their present state would not sustain them for much longer.

*Rustle…* Su Bai held a quill pen in his hand, continuously moving it back and forth across the sheet of paper, producing a constant crisp rustling sound.

Column-like objects kept appearing on the Wolf Tail Grass Paper, and all these columns appeared on both sides of the main road.

“They must be tall enough, otherwise there would be no way to illuminate the Tribe,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

Indeed, these column-like objects were street lamps. Every time he thought about how the Tribe was pitch black at night, he felt rather uncomfortable.

Before the snow season arrived, they could still place fire basins outside, but after the snow season came, the Tribe’s lighting equipment would only consist of the fire pits inside the houses.

However, the current houses had relatively few windows, unlike the skyscrapers on Earth with their transparent glass, so the light was extremely weak.

Moreover, they could not make them so large. Although the cement houses were concentrated in the central area, they still could not illuminate the entire Tribe.

While one could see clearly inside the rooms, once one left the room, nothing could be seen clearly.

One could only carry torches when going outside, but when the snow season or rainy season arrived, it became even more impossible, as torches would be extinguished immediately upon leaving the room.

“Furthermore, the distance between each must be reasonable and consistent, otherwise some places would be dark while others would be bright.” Su Bai said, shaking the quill pen in his hand.

His intention was to make the Tribe quite bright at night as well, so that everyone would not refuse to go out after nightfall.

During the snow season, daytime was extremely brief while nighttime was very long. If there were no lighting equipment at night, then much of the daytime would be wasted.

Originally, the daytime was already very short, but if night occupied two-thirds of it, then there would be no need to accomplish anything.

“After solving the appearance and distance issues, the next problem to solve would be protection from the wind and rain,” Su Bai continued murmuring to himself.

After all, this era had no electrical power, so it would be impossible to have light bulbs and such things.

The street lamps at that time would certainly only use fruit oil lamps as substitutes, which meant placing these lamps on top of the street lamps.

Therefore, wind and rain protection needed to be considered, otherwise they would be extinguished by heavy snow immediately after being installed.

“Glass could be used to block wind and rain, and the glass could allow the light from inside to pass through.” Su Bai thought of a suitable solution.

His idea was similar to the street lamps on Earth, except the light bulb inside would be replaced with a fruit oil lamp.

Having thought of this, he presented his ideas on the blueprint, preparing to have the stonemasons and the people from the glassware workshop manufacture them.

After all, these were street lamps, so durability was certainly required. If wood were used, the durability would not be long lasting, and it would also easily cause fires.

Therefore, the material for the street lamps must be stone. In any case, they were not currently constructing houses, so the people from the stonemason workshop could use cement to create column-like objects.

Afterwards, they could have the glassware workshop produce glass panels, which would then be embedded in the tops of the street lamps.

At that time, they would only need to pour a flat slab on top of the street lamp, and while the cement had not yet dried, place the glass panels on top. Once the cement dried, the glass panels would also be secured firmly.

Then they would place a stone slab on top of the four glass panels, and these simple street lamps would be completed.

“But, this would waste a lot of cement. Using Kerosene Fruit would also save a lot of firewood, so this could be considered as offsetting each other…” Su Bai said softly.

Because previously they had used fire basins, those fire basins required people to continuously add wood, which was rather wasteful.

“Calculating it this way, the quantity would also need to be over a hundred.” Su Bai’s index finger kept tapping the table.

This was no small quantity. Manufacturing them would take several days to complete.

“Xiao Yu, take these to the people at the stonemason workshop and glassware workshop, and have them focus on making these items over the next two days.” Su Bai called out loudly, because Yu Ying was in the kitchen.

Originally, all these matters would have been handled by Sha Lan, but since she was not currently present, he could only have Yu Ying substitute.

*Step step step…*

Yu Ying immediately came out, took those blueprints, and nodded, saying, “Okay, I will go immediately.”

“Be careful when you go out. The snow outside seems to be getting heavier,” Su Bai instructed.

“Understood,” Yu Ying said softly, feeling warmth in her heart, and ran out with bouncing steps.

Su Bai watched Yu Ying’s departing figure and murmured to himself, “We should recruit more maids.”

He always felt that having just a few of them run around for such minor matters was rather too troublesome and tiring.

Because once they left, if he wanted to assign any tasks, there would be no one available to do them.

Moreover, having them personally handle many trivial matters each time was somewhat beneath their status, considering they were his Shaman Priestesses.

[This should indeed be put on the agenda.] Su Bai thought to himself, sitting back down to write recruitment conditions.

Although maids only needed to serve tea and pour water, do laundry, and handle various miscellaneous tasks, one still needed to consider their character and capability. These qualities all needed to be satisfactory before they could be recruited.

Otherwise, if lazy people or those who acted recklessly were recruited, it would be rather troublesome. Such people would not only be unable to accomplish tasks properly, but would actually make matters worse.

“Firstly, height and age must be appropriate, and secondly, personal capability.” Su Bai murmured while writing on the paper.

The reason he wanted an appropriate height was because many items in the Yong’an Building were placed quite high, and there were also some shelves that were rather tall. If one had the advantage of height, one could also clean them.

The requirement for appropriate age meant wanting to recruit people who were not too old. Younger people were also more agile and dexterous.

“Haaa… once Xiao Yu leaves, there is no one available again…” Su Bai finished writing the conditions but discovered there was no one he could order around.

Apart from Xiao Yu and the others, he had no other girl around him to help him. Standing at the door were only Warrior Trainees.
