Chapter 2251: Fight Fire With Fire

Tang Shaoyang looked at the headless body. The fight was more intense and longer. It was still one-sided because he didn’t allow his opponent to fight back.

A realization dawned upon him. It had gotten worse; not only had he underestimated his enemy, but he treated the duel like a game. While trying various kinds of things with the mark on his battle axe, he realized that the shield was tougher than he expected.

No matter how hard he struck the shield, his opponent remained rooted on the ground. He figured out that it might be some skill, but he also realized that the shield reduced the impact of his attack. It absorbed like thirty or maybe forty percent of his strike.

He took it as a challenge and tried to break the shield instead. Each of his strikes always landed on the same spot on the shield, and he kept doing it repeatedly. Forcing his opponent to block his attack from a bad angle and more. He kept imbuing the mark with his energy while at it. He even purposely did not use any other skills.

His focus was solely on that round shield, not even sparing a glance at his opponent. The moment the shield shattered into pieces, his battle axe cut his opponent’s head. He didn’t even realize that she tried to surrender.

”Let’s not take risks in the next match...” He muttered; he meant it. It was time to end the stupid duel.

[5th Duel: Tang Shaoyang (Tang Empire) Vs Rodin Zelster (Elmsano Empire)]

Tang Shaoyang closed the annoying display. He decided not to fight in the next duel, doing a raffle with his spirits. The five lucky spirits would get the chance to fight the next duel.

The four pinnacle-rank Archaic Spirits would not be included in the raffle; only high-rank Archaic Spirits would be allowed to participate in the raffle.

He kept telling himself that he must take the duel seriously, yet here he was, doing a raffle for his spirits. It was really hard for him to take this seriously after how he won the first four duels. It was borderline feeling bad. As if he were facing a child in a fight. That showed the disparity between him and his opponent.

To his surprise, his last opponent didn’t use all five minutes. Rodin Zelster appeared in a minute and twenty-two seconds instead of using a full five minutes. That surprised him, but he soon found out why his opponent came out early.

The man was made of fire, but not really fire. He could feel the distinction, five seconds into the countdown, and he kinda figured it out. Rodin looked like a little sun, not really fire. The temperature quickly rose, not really a bother for someone like Tang Shaoyang.

The grass around Rodin was burned, the one further from him dried by the heat. As the countdown finished, Rodin used his skill, a domain. That was why Rodin appeared early, to catch Tang Shaoyang in his domain.

The ground shone in gold-orange, then the grass instantly burned, turned into dust. Then everything around them turned into something similar to Rodin’s body.

Tang Shaoyang was in the air, observing the ground and muttering, ”Is this what it feels like to be in the sun?”

”Alright, guys. The raffle is canceled. I have decided who the lucky spirit is to fight our little sun.”

Xiyue the Phoenix, Baccara the Black Phoenix, Floga the Undying Flame, Grandine the Demonic Flame, and Savile the Specter Flame.

The five spirits had one thing in common. They were creatures of fire. Xiyue, with her golden-crimson fire, portrayed royalty. Baccara, with her black fire, portrayed the luminosity and disaster. The remaining three were calamity, and their fires were sinister despite being different in color.

Floga had the common crimson with a shade of black. Grandine’s fire was green, and Savile’s fire was gray-dark as the color kept changing between the two colors. The three calamities were made of fire, and they could take any shape. It seemed they decided to copy Xiyue’s graceful posture.

Tang Shaoyang chuckled, ”We fight fire with fire! Go wild! Kill him as quickly as possible!”

He had to admit that Rodin Zelster made a smart move. Using the domain would make him last longer. But he was not going to fight now. He opened the eighth Heavenly Gate. Heavenly Tortoise, then he placed the tortoise mark on his back.

He channeled the Chaos Energy on it, and then the transparent black shell grew big enough to cover his whole body. He boxed himself inside the shell and intended to watch the fight from it.

Rodin Zelster had a different idea as the plasma in the form of bullets shot toward Tang Shaoyang. It came from all directions, but the shell was too hard, and the bullet ricocheted off the shell. Not giving up, a wave of plasma swept toward Tang Shaoyang.

Sitting inside the shell, he saw what this heat could do to his shell. It slowly melted the shell if it was long enough, touching his shell. But the melting part was recovered quickly because he kept pumping Chaos Energy into the mark.

Rodin Zelster tried to bypass the spirit, wanting to finish the fight as quickly as possible by killing Tang Shaoyang.

That enraged the five spirits, except for Xiyue. The new spirit didn’t share the same passion as the others. She was still new after, not knowing what it felt like staying inside the Spirit World with nothing to do. The remaining four were zealous at the chance given to them.

Tang Shaoyang watched the fight from his shell, unbothered by the raging fire that shook the domain. The fight was colorful, but not as interesting as he thought. It was like watching different colors of fire mushed together, trying to dominate each other.

Without special eyes, people couldn’t see the actual battle that was blanketed by the fire. Rodin Zelster was surprisingly doing well. More likely because of the three calamities.

Floga, Grandine, and Savile were competing, close to fighting each other while attacking Rodin individually. It was a mess for twenty minutes. The better way to describe the fight was like a gang fight on the street, but with magic, and it was in a magical domain as well.

After twenty minutes, the frustrated Baccara seemed to say something to the three calamities that calmed the three calamities. Starting from there, the cooperation was starting to go well, albeit the three calamities were still competing. They just didn’t attack each other anymore, but their competition broke the flow of the fight several times, giving Rodin Zelster a chance to break free from a lethal attack.

It was to the point that Rodin Zelster could no longer split his focus to manipulate his domain to attack Tang Shaoyang anymore. The fight went on, still shrouded by the fire. His five spirits actually only did a little damage. The ”fighting fire with fire” seemed to be less efficient.

The same with Rodin Zelster. His plasma hardly hurt the five spirits. He was getting ganged up on from every direction, and if not for the domain, he might have died a long time ago.

Tang Capital

The gripping atmosphere filled the city. Not just this one, but the other cities were in the same atmosphere. The massive screen only showed a lump of fire in five different colors. Sometimes the black fire would dominate the screen, followed by gray-dark flame, then the green, and so on.

They really could not see anything beyond the fire or what had happened. Meanwhile, the Emperor was last sighted under the shell as the wave of plasma washed over him. The screen never showed the Emperor again.

Their concerns were reasonable because the domain was terrifying. It was something that many had never witnessed, and many were still not aware of domain skills since the number of the Tang Empire’s God Rank was still unknown. Not enough information for the information to be public.

The battle had been going on for almost one hour. This was the longest battle of all five duels. It was concerning, considering the previous duel was considered short, very short for the first three duels.

A lot were checking their faction’s menu, checking the member list. That was an easy way to find out whether a member was still alive or not. Being the Emperor, Tang Shaoyang’s name was in the first spot, glowing in gold-red. The name was still there, meaning the Emperor was still alive.

It wasn’t until someone shouted that the intensity behind the fire was lessened, no longer dominating the whole screen as before. Silence ensued, holding their breath, eyes peeled open, locked on the screen, as if time had stopped.

The raging fire finally calmed and dissipated. That was when the screen cleared and revealed what had happened. The world was no longer burned, returning to the grass field. The fried grass returned to its original condition. There, they saw a figure on the ground, with limbs stretched out, surrounded by the five creatures made of fire.

The screen didn’t show the Emperor, but cheers erupted, and the whole city reverberated because people from all parts of the city were cheering at the same time.

The screen then showed the Black Phoenix stepping on the man and burning the body into dust. Then the notification appeared on the screen.

[Tang Shaoyang (Tang Empire) won!]

[The Duel is over, with Earth winning the War of Worlds with 5 consecutive duel wins!]
