Chapter 2272: Tricked?

Tang Shaoyang thought Sox would be troubled to merge the two packs since Somi was oblivious of his presence. However, it went smoothly as Somi accepted his proposal.

He could see them cuddled. Somi caressed her head against Sox’s neck as they watched the Demonification process together. It seemed like it was the tradition for pack leaders to mate with another pack leader of their kind.

Somi’s pack was smaller in number, one hundred and eighty-three Demonic Calamity Fox. Combined, he had four hundred and seventeen Demonic Calamity Fox. Their threat level might be on the same level as Rank 10 or even Rank 11 Calamity.

Sox and Somi were at least Rank 9 Calamity, but he couldn’t be sure until he fought them. They might be Rank 10 Calamity. It was really hard to determine the rank based on just the aura.

Zara finished setting up the portal. He was about to send Sox and Somi to Arnain, but he realized that he needed someone to guard the portal gate.

He would leave this place after using Demonification on the Rank 11 Calamity, who currently fought his spirits. He needed someone to guard the portal gate. Somi and Sox would be the right ones for the job. They obeyed him, taking his order seriously more than the ordinary calamities.

”I need you to stay here and guard the portal gate, and maybe guide the Demonic Calamity that I sent here to go to the portal.”

”This might be a good chance to get our pack closer. There’s no better place than a battlefield to strengthen our bond!” Somi gladly accepted the task.

Tang Shaoyang then turned toward Skelly1, ”You can leave to get your bone share. You might want to communicate with Kaiser. He might already find the right opponent for you. But remember! Rank 10 and Rank 11 Calamity is mine!”

Skelly1 bowed his head before leaving, leading the massive army under his command. The Intelligence Division never reappeared after the earlier assignment. They might have left already after the first pack was captured. He didn’t really meddle in the Skeleton Army’s affairs. He gave the Skelly Family free rein. All he did was just give the order, and they would work toward his order. That worked fine till now, and he didn’t plan to change it.

Ten minutes after the Skeleton Army left, the domain at the peak of the mountain exploded. A massive shadow fell and landed a hundred meters away from where Tang Shaoyang was.

Malki shot down from the sky, landing next to Tang Shaoyang with a bow. Jet appeared from the dark shadow, drifting in the sky. The two Phoenix were circling above the giant calamity, and Zephyr came down on his shoulder again.

Tang Shaoyang quickly checked on the calamity, and he asked on the way there, ”How is it? Is it really Rank 11 Calamity?”

”Not really, close to Rank 11, but one of the strongest Rank 10. I would say it’s Rank 10.5.”

Tang Shaoyang had the urge to roll his eyes at Zephyr’s answer. He checked on the creature. Its dark feather lost its luster as the burning smell assaulted his nose, unpleasant even for him. It suffered many cuts on the lower part, and blood still flowed from the cuts, and many other wounds on it. It was close to dying, but it would be alive if it were left alone.

”I know it’s not dying, it will survive, but...” He let out a sigh, gave up persuading his spirits. They would finish the job, but on their terms. They were a truly unruly bunch. He hoped they could be like his Demonic Calamity and Skelly Family.

”I wonder if it will be healed with the Demonification...”

Only one way to find out about it. He directed his hand and activated his skill, ”Maybe using more energy will rejuvenate it.”

He poured more energy than the skill required of him, hoping to heal the massive bird. His energy blanketed the bird as it settled into the calamity.

It might be the skill, or maybe because he poured more energy than the skill required. The massive bird slowly floated with its wings flapped open. When it was floating in the air like this, it was revealed that the wounds were much worse.

Changes started to take shape as the first change was the color of the feathers. It had pitch-black colored feathers. It started to regain its luster, became glossier, and then he noticed the hint of red shade on the feather.

It seemed the transformation was healing the bird. The feather tail grew longer and longer as it contained the navy shade instead of red. More and more feathers grew on its tail as the flesh started to regenerate more quickly, and the burning flesh was replaced with new flesh and skin.

Then the big change started as a second wing grew. It started with the frame, then followed with the feathers, filling the massive frame. The second was below the first wing. That was not the end of it, as the third wing started to take shape as well. The bird now had three pairs of wings, looking majestic, and it fit well with the longer tail.

The transformation was not over as the horn started to grow. It started to grow above its eyes. At first, he thought it was just a strip of feathers, just like the owl, but it was a horn, as it was solid and white. The pair of horns grew outward, then curved backward, growing longer as they reached its neck, almost passing the neck.

That was the end of the outer transformation, but he could feel that his energy was still working inside its body. The transformation was not over yet; its three pairs of wings started to release something.

At first, the wings released black mist, then the black mist started to change into black snow. The change was slow and gradual until its wings continuously released black snow. The extra Chaos Energy settled inside the bird as it stopped transforming.

That was when the bird opened its eyes. Its eyes were sharp and sinister, but it lost sharpness when it spotted Tang Shaoyang. He sensed fondness and gratitude from her gaze. It made sense for the bird to feel grateful, but he didn’t know where this fondness came from. But then again, Sox and Somi also had a similar fondness for him.

It slowly flew down without flapping its wings and landed right before Tang Shaoyang. It didn’t say anything as it placed its forehead against Tang Shaoyang.

Tang Shaoyang thought of nothing until a notification rang in his head. He found out why it placed its forehead again his.
