Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 1041: Chapter 1032: You Are Yourself, Not Someone Else’s Shadow

”King” and ”Kaidou” have temporarily been led away by Yamato. Without Arceus’s power, this Ghost Island doesn’t have a structured air force, so the others can only hide elsewhere and wait for the results.

Yamato and ”Kaidou” fought from the houses on Ghost Island to the seaside. Because it’s ”Kaidou’s” battle, everyone else kept a safe distance, not daring to come closer, so for now, there are no other pirates disturbing them.

”Sure enough, I really understand myself.”

Seeing ”Yamato” arrive, Yamato felt a sense of pride, but she didn’t know she would soon be harshly slapped in the face.

”Stop staring! Hurry over here!”

Seeing herself in a kimono with wooden clogs, Yamato waved to her, not caring about the outfit issue. It’s just clothing; there’s no need to worry about it.

”Just now... was that you fighting Kaidou?”

”Yeah, it was me. Let me introduce myself; I’m Yamato, though I feel it’s unnecessary, after all...”

”I’m Kaidou’s child, Kozuki Oden. I heard you flipped Kaidou, that’s awesome...”

”Wait! Who did you say you are??? Kaidou’s child... Kozuki Oden?????”

”Yamato” interrupted Yamato, and her words left Yamato unable to comprehend. In this world, did ”Kaidou” give her the name Kozuki Oden?

”First, take off this useless thing.”

Yamato grabbed the Prajna Mask from the other person. Judging by the voice, this was herself, but now she was very curious about the face under the mask.

Only after seeing a face identical to her own did Yamato finally relax.

”Aren’t you Yamato? What the heck is Kozuki Oden? He’s been dead for almost 20 years....”

Saying so, Yamato pulled out the Jewelry Mirror from her bag. She wasn’t interested in this thing; it was a gift from Maria. According to Maria, girls should pay attention to their face.

”Look, although the hairpieces are different, our faces are exactly the same, at most I’m taller. Based on my guess, you are this world’s me, so how can you be that Oden?”

”We’re really identical, huh? You say you’re another world’s me?”

”If I guessed correctly, that’s indeed the case.”

”But if you are me, you should understand why I’m Oden.”

”No... I completely don’t understand. Can you explain why you are Kozuki Oden? And why Kaidou’s child?”

”Yamato” didn’t think much before believing Yamato’s words, as their facial features and voice were identical. It’s just Yamato had developed better due to external environment.

But when it comes to Kozuki Oden, she was interested.

”Nineteen years ago, I witnessed Oden’s execution; that hour was like a legend. Later in Kuri, I found Kozuki Oden’s logbook and treated it as my Bible.

However, when I told my father I wanted to become Kozuki Oden, he directly beat me up.

As for being a son... Because Kozuki Oden is a man, and I want to be Oden, so I’m also a man. You can understand me, right?”

”Yamato” quickly recounted her experiences in a few minutes, with an expression of expectation. She hoped for recognition from herself, wanting others to acknowledge her ideology.

”Though I understand your current feelings, I’m sorry, I don’t understand this idea.”

”Eh? Why? He was a great samurai...”

”No, he was just a naive fool. And you are you; you should live for yourself and not in someone else’s shadow. That’s the critical issue.

No matter who that person is, even if he’s truly a genius, you won’t be him!”

...

The debate between the two didn’t reach a conclusion, which was as Yamato expected. She knew she’s stubborn; these few words wouldn’t easily convince ”Yamato.”

”Isn’t this just an ordinary logbook? What are you so obsessed with?”

To prove ”Oden’s” greatness, ”Yamato” shared her precious logbook, but Yamato didn’t see any outstanding information.

”This was a great adventure, overcoming so many obstacles and reaching so many interesting islands. Isn’t such a person worthy of respect?

I’ve been imprisoned on this island since I was eight. These handcuffs limit my movement... I want to go outside too, I want to be as free as Oden!

Can you understand this feeling? If you were me, you’d understand, right?”

”Well, I can understand, but take a look at this.”

Yamato didn’t say anything. She just took out the Rotom Phone from her bag, having previously tried to contact Robin through Rotom for outside help.

Though the communication system had failed, other functions were still usable.

”What’s this?”

”My logbook, also my treasure. It records my past life, though it’s unfortunate that during my first voyage Rotom wasn’t born, so there isn’t footage from that time.

Rotom, please edit some exciting clips for her to see.”

”Roto, got it.”

Compared to boring text, vivid images are more expressive. Rotom’s intelligence is very high, and it quickly edited an exciting short film from the stored navigation data.

Corviknight soaring through the sky and Sky Island above the clouds, the Magikarp army climbing Inverted Mountain, swirling Thousand-Year Dragons and the mysterious Dragon Island.

Fishman Island ten thousand meters deep underwater and the laboring Swampert, Chansey rolling in the fields, Whimsicott swirling everywhere in the sea breeze.

Tinkaton wielding a giant hammer to craft weapons, Bisharp sharpening its blade, Farfetch’d competing on the lake, the reaching-to-the-sky Zou and the enthusiastic Fur Race.

Squirtle sunbathing at the fire station, busy Chanseys in the Pokemon Center, the shy Snover on Vine Mountain....

New islands, magical Pokemon, countless images flooded into ”Yamato’s” view.

”See, everyone has their own adventure. You should look for your own adventure rather than becoming someone else.”

Yamato never thought she’d someday give a lesson to someone else, especially when the audience was herself.

While saying this, the footage Rotom played changed again, bringing the view back to Ghost Island.

Looking at the banner above, it’s her eighteenth birthday party. Of course, such parties usually don’t include elders, so it’s filled with peers.

Jack silently brought a giant cake made by Alcremies, Maria helped her tidy her hair, and Ulti proudly handed her a hair ornament she made herself.

The gifts weren’t luxurious; Yamato didn’t lack material things. In footage Rotom didn’t record, the gifts given to her already piled into a small mountain.

These are gifts from subordinates who are qualified to give her gifts. Without this restriction, her room might have been filled with gifts.

As a few Chanseys and Robin burst paper party poppers in their hands, Yamato’s birthday party declared its start.

Lively and warm, the video was filled with sounds of laughter and blessings. Seeing the final framed scene, ”Yamato’s” expression was already filled with envy....
