The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Yao Shi’s voice wasn’t very loud, and in the noisy atmosphere of the kitchen, it became even more indistinct.

But Fu Yu could hear every word he said clearly.

”Because the temperature of cooking oil is higher than that of boiling water when heated, the time required for frying food is often shorter. The taste of fried food is also more savory and delicious compared to boiling it in water.”

”And there are actually eighteen methods of frying, one of which is dry frying. Marinate small ingredients, coat them with flour, and fry them directly into a dish. The method you just used was precisely this one...”

Yao Shi explained in detail, and Fu Yu listened intently.

During the process, the pomfret in the pan was done frying, and Fu Yu carefully used a spatula to take the fish out for plating.

As the pomfret left the hot oil, Yao Shi suddenly turned around and continued with his tasks.

At the same time, Fu Yu paused his plating action.

He heard an electronic notification sound in his ear:

[Ding! NPC Chef Yao Shi’s dedicated guidance has been successfully completed, you have received a reward: a key to the ”Fry” teaching practice classroom]

A key to the teaching practice classroom?

What does that mean?

It’s not enough just to receive Yao Shi’s meticulous guidance; to acquire personal frying skills, one needs to enter the teaching practice classroom?

How to enter?

Where is the key?

As his mind raced, a light bulb went off in Fu Yu’s head.

The oil-free slotted spoon and non-stick wok before both indicated that as long as he operated the corresponding items, these items would acquire the corresponding skills.

Doesn’t that mean he just needs to randomly use a key to open a door to enter this teaching practice classroom?

It must be this way!

He would find a chance to try it later!

Fu Yu, in good spirits, continued with the plating at hand.

The fried pomfret embodied freshness, fragrance, and tenderness, with a marvelous taste and an aroma that was tantalizing.

The two fish, joined at the head and tail, echoed each other, embodying the profound philosophy of Taiji’s transformation of yin and yang.

This was a plating method passed down by the old chefs in the restaurant.

Exactly where it originated from, no one knew.

But with the association with Taiji and yin-yang, this plating technique instantly became elevated and sophisticated.

When later generations adopted it, as long as they heard this rhetoric, nobody wanted to question the truth or meaning of this interpretation.

Fu Yu and Yao Shi each busied themselves, as if the teaching session had never occurred.

Sun Qingning was bewildered!

He clearly heard Chef Yao speaking just now, and listened carefully, but why did it seem like he heard nothing at all?

Weird!

After a busy spell, finally, the meal rush was over.

During lunch in the afternoon, Sun Qingning happily whispered a message to Fu Yu, ”Chef Fu, I made the sweet and sour fish at noon with three-scaly carp, it’s quite fatty! The roe is tucked under the fish body, just poke with chopsticks, and you can eat it!”

This fish was ordered by a customer in the morning, prepared in the kitchen, only to be replaced with another dish upon request.

Anyway, the customer was not concerned about the cost, and the kitchen definitely had no objections.

Fu Yu agreed and went over with a bowl of rice and another bowl to sample the dishes.

When it came to the sweet and sour fish, Fu Yu directly broke off the tail and placed it in the bowl, along with a thick piece of fish roe.

This meal was for Zhao Meng, so Fu Yu picked all the best parts.

No one else said a word, everyone knew Fu Yu wasn’t usually like this.

Zhao Meng was the boss and also recovering, so eating something good was deserved.

Fu Yu finished serving the meal and was about to leave.

Sun Qingning hurriedly called out, ”Chef Fu, aren’t you eating?”

Fu Yu replied, ”I’ll deliver this to Chef Zhao and come back to eat later.”

Sun Qingning nodded, then set down his chopsticks and stopped eating as well.

Someone nearby asked, ”Why aren’t you eating either?”

Sun Qingning stood up, ”I will eat! I’ll leave some dishes for Chef Fu first, or you wolves will surely clean them all up!”

He quickly went over to get a clean set of tableware.

That’s how the kitchen meals went, limited quantities, so early arrival meant more dishes and enough rice, while latecomers just ate whatever was left.

Fu Yu carried the meal over to Zhao Meng’s room.

Whether it was due to the medication, Zhao Meng, despite lying peacefully indoors all morning, felt heavier and more fatigued, with little appetite for food.

He knew Fu Yu came around this time, certainly hadn’t eaten yet, especially bringing hot food.

Zhao Meng was touched, and joked, ”Alright, I’m not paralyzed and unable to move, hurry back to your tasks!”

Fu Yu also had a thought to try out the key to the teaching practice classroom, so he got up to leave.

Zhao Meng called him back, ”Wait a minute, there’s a black bag on the windowsill, take a bottle from it.”

Fu Yu was puzzled and went over.

It was a well-tied bag, heavy to hold.

”What’s inside?” Fu Yu curiously asked.

Zhao Meng said, ”Ever heard of pine pollen?”

Fu Yu honestly shook his head, ”Never heard of it, what’s it for?”

Zhao Meng chuckled, ”Boosting immunity, the boss brought it over this morning. You can send it home for your mom to drink.”

Fu Yu quickly declined, ”Keep it for yourself, your health’s like this, perfect for a boost.”

Zhao Meng half-jokingly said, ”Having too much isn’t good either, I called the doctor to confirm. Take it, it has a short shelf life, and loses efficacy over time.”

Fu Yu finally accepted it, happily saying, ”Alright, I’ll go find a courier to send it home later.”

His mom often got eczema, because of poor immunity, as he heard.

This pine pollen seemed the right remedy, a gift from the boss, surely it’s good stuff.

Fu Yu cheerfully took out a bottle of pine pollen and left holding it.

Zhao Meng watched his back with a loving gaze.

For all of Fu Yu’s virtues, he definitely was filial.

Zhao Meng knew Fu Yu often sent things home, thrifty with his spending but generous with his parents.

Probably as elders, they all liked such diligent, able, mature, and considerate children.

Fu Yu jogged back to his room.

First, he carefully placed the pine pollen on the desk, then found the key and hurriedly went to try unlocking the door.

The key turned in the lock after insertion.

Fu Yu pushed open the door, expecting dozens of dialog boxes, or some blackboard and teaching tools.

As soon as the door opened, his scene suddenly changed to the kitchen.

[Ding! ”Fry” teaching practice classroom has been opened, please learn through the simulated space. Upon successful completion, you can receive the reward: personal skill ”Fry” at an advanced level]

Fu Yu was instantly delighted!

To get a personal skill at an advanced level right off the bat!

This title of kitchen craftsman was even more impressive than the title of kitchen rookie!

Though it requires learning to obtain, it was worth it!

Does that mean, anytime a kitchen craftsman title reward is obtained, a high-level personal skill can be acquired?

Following this path, it wouldn’t be long before this rising kitchen star would truly shine!

The thought of it was exciting!
