The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 106: Chapter 105: Officially Joining the Commission System

After eating and drinking to their heart’s content, Fu Yu stayed behind to pay the bill.

The meal cost almost four hundred bucks.

If it were before, he’d be heartbroken.

But now, it just stings a little.

Sure enough, with a slightly fuller wallet, it feels different.

By the time he finished settling the bill and came out, only Zhao Meng was left outside.

”Those little brats, each runs faster than the other, do they think I’ll eat them?”

Fu Yu chuckled, ”That just shows you’ve got authority! They’re not scared of you, they respect you.”

Zhao Meng laughed heartily, ”Alright, stop with the flattery, or I’ll start floating without even drinking too much!”

The two walked back together.

Zhao Meng asked, ”How much did we spend tonight?”

Fu Yu reported honestly, ”388, the boss gave us a discount.”

Zhao Meng nodded, ”Not bad, not expensive.”

Fu Yu felt the same, not only because of the discount, but because he also stumbled into a new task with a decent prize.

Zhao Meng told Fu Yu, ”I talked to Chef Yao, starting tomorrow, you’ll officially be teaming up with me to take orders. Originally, it was 8 bucks per table, me getting 6, you 2, right? Now we’ll split it evenly, 4 each...”

Fu Yu quickly said, ”No need, Chef Zhao, the standard is that a newly confirmed employee, even if they can officially take orders, should only get 2 bucks commission.”

Zhao Meng waved his hand, ”What’s the rule for? That’s just for newbies starting to cook and can’t take orders, you’re different. I see you can handle orders just fine now, and even if not, I’m here to back you up!”

Fu Yu felt touched, just about to speak when Zhao Meng said, ”But don’t go broadcasting this, just keep it to yourself. If someone asks about your salary, be smart, don’t let it slip.”

”I see Lao Gu is mostly letting Yao Yihang handle everything now, with the other juniors taking turns to practice by his side. It’s just starting, so no one’s noticed yet, but give it time, it’ll surely stir up some drama.”

”Now that the kitchen has split up after the reorganization, Lao Gu and I manage our own sides. Whatever happens with his side, we don’t meddle, we just keep our side in check.”

Fu Yu heard this and realized that Gu Yunwu was about to stir up some trouble again.

It’s inevitable that chefs participate in commission after confirming their positions.

But to earn commissions, they have to take part in order taking.

Gu Yunwu took advantage of this opportunity to dump all his tasks on Yao Yihang.

Anyway, the boss asked for juniors to take turns cooking.

Using the excuse of guiding the juniors, he didn’t touch small orders, only stepping in for the big ones when it got too busy.

He acted as a hands-off manager, yet took the lion’s share of the commissions.

This was really rotten behavior!

Gu Yunwu truly was a petty man.

Just to do less work and earn more money, he came up with such a plan.

Impressive!

Fu Yu was speechless, ”With him doing this, can Yao Yihang manage?”

Zhao Meng pulled out a cigarette, mumbled, ”What can he do but endure? It took him long enough to get confirmed. But Lao Gu’s scheme won’t last long, Chef Yao will probably have to step in and mediate sooner or later.”

Fu Yu said sincerely, ”Good thing you had the foresight to choose me back then. If I were with Chef Gu, it would be suffocating.”

Zhao Meng mock-scolded, ”You cheeky guy, don’t act innocent after gaining a benefit! When you go to the music restaurant later, remember to do a good job. Chef Yao really is good to you.”

Fu Yu nodded, ”Don’t worry, I know.”

Zhao Meng smiled.

Aside from everything else, Fu Yu’s talent and ability indeed impressed people.

Whether in Qianlima or the music restaurant, he was sure to do well.

Zhao Meng was both satisfied and proud to have such a trusted apprentice.

After drinking some beer at night, lying on the bamboo mat, the hot summer night didn’t seem so unbearable.

Slept wonderfully through the night.

The next morning, Fu Yu clocked in at the front hall right on time.

[Checked in! Thanks!!]

[Ding! Daily Task: Complete ten dishes that satisfy customers. Task reward: RMB +20, Task experience +10]

Ah!

The reward is pretty average!

Realizing his thoughts, Fu Yu was first stunned, then he mocked himself: Inflated, eh! How arrogant! In the past, just picking up a dollar from the ground was enough to make me happy for half a day, now seeing 20 bucks feels like nothing.

This won’t do!

He strolled over to the back kitchen.

The morning shift staff had already prepared the meal in advance.

Everyone gathered together and had a lively breakfast.

Today’s customers were still coming in an endless stream.

Jiang Mo came over with the order slips and gossiped with Fu Yu, ”Chef Fu, did you see last night’s trending topic?”

Fu Yu asked casually, ”What trending topic?”

Jiang Mo said, ”The one where experts debunked the claims about food incompatibility, saying that discussing toxicity without measuring is just alarmist.”

Fu Yu was a bit surprised, ”How did that suddenly become a trending topic?”

Jiang Mo laughed, ”Probably because it’s been popular in social circles lately, with people spreading and forwarding it everywhere, which isn’t good. The trending news even listed some so-called doctors and health influencer examples, debunking them one by one. One of them is that group of influencers who came to our restaurant. Although they pixelated the faces, you can tell it’s our restaurant’s private room in the background.”

”The news said that the experts did experiments with related foods, and the results showed everything was normal for both humans and animals!”

Fu Yu smiled, ”That’s good, at least people now know that the claim of food incompatibility isn’t valid.”

At this moment, Zhao Meng took a look at the order slips and laughed, ”Hey, I noticed since that group of influencers visited, these four dishes have become almost like the most popular dishes in our restaurant.”

Fu Yu couldn’t agree more with Chef Zhao.

Now, many customers come specifically to check in and order these four dishes after watching the videos.

At this time, Sun Qingning was diligently using his spare time to clean Fu Yu’s cooking station, and he laughed when he heard Zhao Meng’s words, ”The influencer effect is so strong nowadays, we really shouldn’t underestimate it.”

Fu Yu turned to look at Sun Qingning.

Ever since they talked yesterday, Sun Qingning seemed rejuvenated.

Fu Yu was pleased to see this.

Now that Fu Yu was officially teaming up with Zhao Meng to split commissions equally, Zhao Meng still divided the work as usual, giving Fu Yu two out of five dishes, unless they were too busy, then whoever worked faster would take on more.

After working together for nearly a year, even with changed roles, their work was still effortless.

The server brought over a few more order slips.

Zhao Meng had two exclusive tables with designated customers and also took on a large order.

With more work, Fu Yu’s quick actions and ability to follow instructions were immediately evident.

Zhao Meng didn’t need to explain much, just one word from him, and Fu Yu would execute without question.

Much simpler and easier compared to partnering with Gu Yunwu before.

Fu Yu focused on his cooking, handling one table after another, working non-stop for over two hours until all the order slips on the wall were removed.
