The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The business at the restaurant is getting more and more prosperous.

Ever since the last visit from a social media influencer, many new and old customers have been visiting continuously.

Fu Yu and Zhao Meng work together to handle the regulars who order by name and take turns managing the orders and organizing the tables.

They’re busy to the point of running back and forth.

Fu Yu was arranging the dishes when suddenly a digital prompt sounded in his ear:

[Ding! Daily task: Complete ten dishes that satisfy customers, successfully completed, reward: RMB +20, task experience +10]

The phone vibrated slightly.

Fu Yu raised his eyebrows, continuing his actions seamlessly.

This system is quite accurate; he had actually already cooked eleven dishes.

It seems it skipped the dish, sweet and sour pork, that was criticized by a customer before.

”Chef Zhao! There’s a special order!”

Zhao Meng took it and glanced at the dishes, they were all stir-fried.

Got it!

It’s a loyal customer again.

Forty minutes later, after just finishing this table’s order, another order came in: ”Chef Zhao! The customer requested the traditional grande feast, not the improved version!”

Zhao Meng took the order, and his name was on it, still a regular customer.

A table of eight dishes, he assigned three to Fu Yu.

The two hurried to cook.

This is how the kitchen works; once an order comes in, dishes must be delivered quickly.

If one customer is dissatisfied, it could lead to losing customers, so they dare not slack off.

At ten in the evening, the order clerk came to deliver tomorrow’s orders.

Zhao Meng glanced at the paper, and was stunned—it turned out there were six orders!

Upon closer inspection, alright, they were all big banquets!

Oh wow!

Is this a stroke of luck?

Although many regulars usually come because of him, not many book in advance.

However, the orders were all for the day after tomorrow.

Zhao Meng was amused, wondering if they all conspired together?

Zhao Meng collected the orders, sticking them on the kitchen wall, then turned around to send a message to Yao Shi.

After Yao Shi replied, he took the opportunity of punching out to talk to Fu Yu.

”Take tomorrow off.”

Fu Yu was a bit surprised: ”Huh? We’re so busy these days; I’d rather not rest.”

Zhao Meng waved his hand: ”It’s okay, just one day, I can manage. If you don’t rest, it’ll be harder for me to pick a day to rest later.”

Fu Yu also knew there were six pre-booked banquets the day after tomorrow, so there would be a lot to do then.

”Alright, I’ll rest tomorrow.”

Zhao Meng advised, ”I’ve informed Chef Yao, and he asked you to go to work normally over there tomorrow.”

Fu Yu nodded, ”I understand.”

Returning to his room, after a simple wash, Fu Yu flopped onto the pillow.

After a day of continuous cooking, even with the aid of skills, he was really exhausted!

The next morning, the alarm clock rang three times before Fu Yu got up.

He bought three small Jianbing Guozi for breakfast from a side street.

This place is quite old, they say the Qianlima Restaurant has been open for many years, just like this elderly couple working here for just as long.

Thin pancakes of mung bean flour, wrapped with egg, deep-fried dough sticks, brushed with sauce, chili sauce, sprinkled with green onion and cilantro, best eaten hot, are especially flavorful.

The restaurant provides three free meals a day.

To save money, as long as conditions allow, Fu Yu easily refrains from eating outside.

Unless he really craves something.

Like now.

Thinking that he now earns a bit of money, Fu Yu decided to indulge a little this time.

”Boss! One Jianbing Guozi, add... two eggs... sausage? No chicken sausage, give me an expensive one, yeah, Marco Polo...”

When paying, Fu Yu felt a bit audacious.

Ordering Jianbing Guozi, he dared to add two eggs and a three-and-a-half yuan sausage!

A Jianbing Guozi, 13 yuan.

Ordering felt great, but paying hurt a bit.

Once a hot and delicious Jianbing Guozi entered his mouth, he felt that the money was well spent.

At least for once, he achieved the freedom to enjoy Jianbing Guozi!

Rich people eating Jianbing Guozi, perhaps it’s just like this...

He took the bus to the music restaurant.

Punched in on time, changed into his work clothes, and headed to the kitchen.

Fu Yu was familiar with the entire process.

Then he routinely received the daily task.

[Ding! Daily task: Independently cook 10 steamed dishes. Task reward: 20 RMB, steaming experience +10, task experience +10]

A standard task requirement.

Fu Yu chose to accept and turned back to the kitchen.

Upon entering the kitchen, Zhang Zhen immediately informed Fu Yu: ”Yesterday, a customer who pre-ordered a birthday party banquet is coming today to taste the dishes. He ordered soy sauce poached shrimp, and Chef Yao plans to take this opportunity to promote the balloon food plating.”

Fu Yu’s eyes lit up immediately!

That’s great!

He had already taught Zhang Zhen and the two head chefs how to make balloon food plating, and now was the time to test the results.

Besides the taste test for the birthday banquet today, there were two more banquet orders.

One was an engagement banquet, the other a hundred-day banquet.

The hundred-day banquet was in the morning, and the engagement banquet was in the afternoon.

Yao Shi had something to do in the morning and didn’t come, so Fu Yu took over the work from Zhang Zhen.

One dish was dry-braised prawns, which the Qianlima Restaurant also had, and Fu Yu had made it before, and was quite good at it.

Another was steamed live mandarin fish, which Fu Yu secured for himself to complete the daily task.

The dry-braised prawns only had five prawns per dish, using only the largest ones.

The plating included broccoli and dendrobium.

It looked both high-end and exquisite.

Zhang Zhen personally made a plate as a model for Fu Yu, watched as Fu Yu cooked a serving, too.

Ensuring there were no issues, he then went to handle his own tasks.

With the boss absent, the kitchen followed his instructions.

Although he trusted Fu Yu’s cooking skills, the formalities still needed to be observed.

After all, a horse might stumble, and if any step went wrong, he’d have plausible deniability.

After finishing ten steamed live mandarin fish dishes, the next moment, Fu Yu heard a digital prompt sound in his ear:

[Ding! Daily task: Independently cook 10 steamed dishes, successfully completed, reward: 20 RMB, steaming experience +10, task experience +10]

The phone vibrated slightly.

Fu Yu calmly continued with his task.

At two thirty in the afternoon, the waiter came to notify that the birthday party customer would arrive in half an hour to taste the dishes.

Zhang Zhen quickly handed off his tasks to others, and started organizing the tasting banquet.

The birthday banquet had booked a total of 60 tables, with a mid-range package of 3888 yuan, 12 dishes per table.

The customer had dined here before, and this time they would only taste four of the dishes.

The other three dishes were the restaurant’s specialties, often made in the kitchen, and nothing special.

But the soy sauce poached shrimp, involving balloon plating and being presented for the first time, was special.

Honestly, Zhang Zhen felt uneasy inside.

What if the customer didn’t approve?

All four dishes were plated and sent to the customer by the waiter.

Fu Yu said, ”Chef Zhang, I’m a bit nervous.”

Zhang Zhen replied, ”Don’t worry, the dish is fine for sure, the balloon plating is so unique, the customer will definitely be satisfied.”

Thinking to himself: You’re nervous, but I’m more nervous; after all, I cooked this dish...
