The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

During the subsequent time, Zhao Meng didn’t show Sun Qingning any good face.

Fortunately, Sun Qingning was immersed in the joy of having Fu Yu as his powerful ally, and he indeed had thick skin. No matter how Zhao Meng glared or snubbed him, he maintained his usual composure and continued to work alongside Fu Yu, unaffected in the slightest.

When the customers for the fourth table reservation arrived, Fu Yu and Zhao Meng continued to split the tasks and work.

The two had already been working together seamlessly, and now that Fu Yu could handle the cooking completely on his own, the smoothness of the cooking process surprised Zhao Meng.

Fu Yu also noticed his cooperation with Sun Qingning was going well, and the speed also increased. Having a kitchen helper was indeed advantageous.

After stir-frying two dishes in succession, Fu Yu suddenly thought of something and casually asked Sun Qingning, ”Did you notice my movements when I flipped the pan just now?”

Sun Qingning quickly replied, ”I noticed!”

Fu Yu smiled, ”Oh? What did you observe?”

Sun Qingning said, ”I noticed that when you flip the pan, you hold the handle lower, and the ingredients slide forward in the pan faster. Also, when you push the pan forward and then pull back sharply, the force used is very precise. When the ingredients in the pan flip over, it looks like a whole pancake lying flat and flipping over.”

”And with the pan shaking and lifting, your movements are both fast and smooth, and they look very strong, yet your wrist barely rotates. Is this to conserve energy so you can handle the upcoming tasks? Your basic skills are truly solid, and you apply them so well. Even with the same pan flipping, your speed is obviously much faster, increasing the frequency of serving dishes!”

When Sun Qingning spoke towards the end, he got a bit excited, and without realizing it, he switched from addressing him as ”you” to the more respectful ”您”.

Sun Qingning was now completely convinced by Fu Yu. He realized that Fu Yu was genuinely amazing.

Not only did he have a solid foundation in cooking skills, but he could also make reasonable improvements in the details.

This spirit of innovation, not to mention Zhao Meng, might not even have it!

Learning from someone like this, getting a formal position was just around the corner!

Fu Yu nodded in satisfaction.

He didn’t expect Sun Qingning to have such keen observation skills, which was quite a commendable trait!

”Not bad, I am indeed intentionally increasing the efficiency of pan flipping. I’ve always been considering how to increase the speed of food leaving the pan. Eventually, I found that the frequency of pan flipping and the angle at which the food contacts the heat source at the bottom of the pan can effectively achieve this goal. So I try to maximize this advantage to speed up the process of food leaving the pan!”

He paused and looked at Sun Qingning, ”What do you think of this pan-flipping technique?”

Sun Qingning quickly replied, ”It’s really good and very practical!”

Fu Yu laughed, ”Great, when you have time in a couple of days, you should start practicing pan flipping. You’ve practiced this before, and you have a solid foundation. In the future, whenever there’s an opportunity to do some pan flipping, try taking turns with me at the stove.”

Pan flipping truly is a labor-intensive task.

Now there’s someone to share the workload.

Fu Yu could ease up a lot.

And for Sun Qingning, it’s also a rare opportunity.

After all, being able to flip pans on the stove is what every kitchen helper dreams of.

Once he gets good at pan-flipping, then he can start formal cooking, and build a solid foundation for a future in culinary arts.

Fu Yu and Zhao Meng split into two groups, flipping pans for three and a half hours straight, finishing all the orders for the evening.

Sun Qingning, towards the end, was doing more than just simple kitchen helper tasks.

He had other helpers take care of washing kitchen utensils and handing over plates and bowls, while he stayed by Fu Yu, helping with marinating and mixing ingredients.

With tasks evenly distributed, Fu Yu could focus on cooking.

Both were performing their roles, with the shared goal of striving to increase the speed.

Fu Yu took the lead, flipping pans, steaming, boiling, and plating.

Sun Qingning did everything to support as a kitchen helper, working hard to help Fu Yu serve dishes faster.

Their division of labor was clear, and their sense of synergy visibly improved, making the work proceed smoothly.

By the end of the night, everyone felt relieved, realizing they hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

So Zhao Meng told Yao Shi and joined Fu Yu in preparing a few dishes, and everyone gathered for a nice meal.

After returning to the dormitory in the evening, Fu Yu washed up quickly and went straight to sleep without even checking his phone.

The next day was an evening shift, so Fu Yu took the rare opportunity to sleep in, timing his arrival to punch in on time.

[Ding! Daily task: Complete ten independent servings, task completion reward: RMB 20, serving experience +20, task experience +20]

[Ding! 20 days of consecutive attendance task completed, 19/20 days, task completion reward: serving +500]

His current serving level was intermediate, and with this 500 experience points, he could be directly promoted to advanced!

Advanced personal serving skills!

Just the thought made Fu Yu a bit excited.

In the morning, when Chef Yao arrived, he overheard Gao Wenjing verifying reservation information with the front desk staff, and his eyebrows immediately furrowed.

Last night, Zhao Meng’s old customers placed orders again!

There were three in total; although fewer than yesterday, they were all big orders.

And this didn’t include today’s last-minute reservations.

Yao Shi stood there for a moment, waiting for Gao Wenjing to finish explaining work, before stepping forward to ask, ”Are all the recent reservations Zhao Meng’s orders? What’s happening over at Gu Yunwu’s side?”

He immediately spotted the issue.

As an old hand in the industry, he didn’t head straight to the kitchen but first checked in with Gao Wenjing.

Gao Wenjing was in charge of all matters in the front hall, including customer reservations.

Gao Wenjing said, ”Chef Gu has a reservation today, and I’ve already informed them in advance.”

Yao Shi nodded, ”Yes, keep an eye on it. The kitchen is different from other positions; if there are too many orders, it will delay the serving time. For reserved customers... accept orders according to the kitchen’s capacity. If it’s too packed, adjust accordingly. Have the front desk negotiate with the customers, as they come to dine and waiting too long isn’t ideal.”

Gao Wenjing smiled, ”Don’t worry, I’m on it. Last night, Chef Zhao took six orders, he and Chef Fu teamed up, and the serving was quite timely, with no customers urging for dishes.”

Yao Shi was busy organizing the banquet last night and didn’t manage to check on Zhao Meng’s side.

When he went to the kitchen, Yao Shi specifically sought out Zhao Meng to inquire about last night’s situation.

Zhao Meng said directly, ”Last night was quite hectic, and you were occupied, so I went to ask Gu Yunwu for help. But he had given Yao Yihang time off, saying he was unavailable. I was about to ask the front desk to help reschedule, then...”

Zhao Meng recounted the process of how Fu Yu teamed up to take the orders, including casually mentioning the improved process for salt-and-pepper mantis shrimp.

Yao Shi was surprised, ”Made improvements again? How was it done this time?”

Zhao Meng explained the specific method.

After listening, Yao Shi smiled at Fu Yu, ”You’re quite clever.”

Not only was Fu Yu taking on responsibilities, handling orders, and cooking on his own, but he was also once again innovating and improving dish preparations!

Yao Shi led a round of praises, and others quickly showed their appreciation.

Fu Yu hurriedly responded humbly, ”It was mostly because Chef Zhao teaches well.”

Yao Shi laughed in agreement, ”Indeed, Old Zhao, you can really be called an excellent teacher!”

Hearing Yao Shi’s praise, Zhao Meng was delighted.

Seeing his apprentice, whom he personally trained, do so well made him feel proud as a mentor.

Though on second thought...

Am I really that good?

How did I end up training such an excellent kitchen talent?

But... what exactly have I taught Fu Yu?

It seems he hasn’t been cooking for that long, has he?

Oh well, who cares what I’ve taught!

In any case, Fu Yu has successfully graduated!
