The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

After a brief pause, Mr. Ma’s tone turned serious: ”This case involves five lives, and its nature is extremely heinous.”

”Not just in Jiangcheng, but looking at the entire province, it’s indeed rare.”

”But the approach you displayed during the investigation was very clear, able to connect multiple related cases from one case.”

”Then extract common characteristics from several cases, this ’from one to many, from many to one’ thinking method is not only efficient but also very systematic.”

”I believe this working method is worth promoting and learning across the whole province.”

Mr. Li couldn’t hide his excitement upon hearing such high praise from Mr. Ma, and his smile was already spreading to his ears.

He quickly replied with a smile: ”Mr. Ma, you flatter us.”

”The progress in our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation work depends on the constant care and guidance from the higher authorities.”

”It can be said that without the support and advice from you and the leadership, Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation wouldn’t have today’s achievements.”

”We will certainly continue to strive in the future, not failing the expectations of our leaders!”

Mr. Ma interrupted, ”There’s no need for more of this polite talk.”

”To be factual, this time it wasn’t us guiding you, rather you provided us with many valuable experiences and insights through your solid work.”

”It should be said that we should be learning from you.”

Then, Mr. Ma suddenly changed his tone and said solemnly: ”Actually, the main purpose of our call today is to formally inform you.”

”Please ask Jiang An to prepare in advance; we may very likely take the case he handled as an exemplary case for experience exchange in the entire provincial criminal investigation system.”

”Experience exchange? That’s great news!”

Hearing these words, Mr. Li became excited instantly.

He knows too well that once a case handled by his unit can be selected as a provincial exchange example, it will not only earn precious points in future criminal investigation assessments and competitions.

More importantly, it will become a significant highlight work, greatly boosting the annual performance of the bureau and the morale of the team.

”Well... the extra points should be quite a lot, right?”

Mr. Li half-jokingly asked.

Mr. Ma laughed upon hearing this: ”Haha, Mr. Li, your vision seems a bit narrow!”

”Bonus points are of course good, but that’s just superficial.”

”More importantly, the provincial department is considering organizing provincial criminal investigation teams to learn onsite at Jiangcheng in the next step, to hear Jiang An explain case-handling thoughts and methods.”

”It would truly be an honor for us!”

Mr. Li’s voice rose slightly.

Mr. Ma continued: ”Let Jiang An prepare some materials.”

”Currently, the department is still considering the specific forms–whether to centrally organize all provincial key personnel to hold a field meeting in Jiangcheng or to have Jiang An bring his presentation to various cities for a tour report.”

”The department is still deliberating on these two methods, each has its advantages.”

”The first way is efficient and directly interactive.”

”The second can leverage Jiang An’s experience to assist sorting out a batch of difficult cases in various cities, and if successful, it might further promote the clearance of pending homicide cases province-wide.”

Hearing this, Mr. Li felt even more stirred.

It’s worth noting that Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation has been steadily ranking in the top ten in the province in recent years, yet hasn’t advanced further, occasionally slipping out of the top ten.

If they can seize this opportunity, through Jiang An’s touring report and interactions across regions, not only will experience be promoted, but Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation’s reputation and capability can also be enhanced in actual collaborations–aiming for the annual top rank isn’t impossible!

”Mr. Ma, thank you so much!”

”You’re providing our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation a precious opportunity for learning and growth!”

Mr. Li spoke sincerely, ”If the final decision is to adopt the provincial tour mode, then the effect will surely be more comprehensive and in-depth, I fully agree!”

”It’s still being discussed, news will be notified promptly.”

”Lastly, congratulations on successfully cracking this case!”

Mr. Li hesitated, then added apologetically: ”Additionally, I must explain something.”

”According to procedures, this type of case should have been reported to the provincial department immediately upon resolution, but this time we had a slight delay in handling, please understand.”

Hearing this, Mr. Ma paused slightly on the other end of the phone, then said calmly: ”Forget it, it’s not your fault.”

”When we started reviewing the case report, we only discovered one case, which fully complied with your independent processing principle.”

”Later, during your investigation, further speculating on the possibility of information transmission or linked cases, this thought was correct.”

”Certainly, as the investigation progressed, this case truly escalated, involving more clues, and you also did timely reporting and follow-ups at every level.”

”The entire investigation process was seamlessly connected, very conforming to the objective development of the case.”

”So, procedurally speaking, there are no flaws, you don’t need to have any psychological burdens.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Li’s tone also relaxed: ”Haha, then that’s good.”

”Mr. Ma, thank you, really appreciate your care and understanding.”

”As for Jiang An, please continue to look after him.”

Mr. Ma replied with a smile: ”Hope he prepares well, he might have to tour the province for public speaking next.”

”Absolutely!”

After hanging up, Mr. Li wasted no time and immediately dialed Jiang An’s number from the contacts.

”Hello, Jiang An? Where are you?”

”Mr. Li, I’m in the team, just finished organizing the case files on hand.”

”Good, then come to my office now, there’s something important to discuss with you.”

”Right away.”

Five minutes later, Jiang An pushed the door and entered the office.

As soon as he entered, Jiang An noticed the joy on Mr. Li’s eyebrows and corners of eyes.

”Mr. Li, judging by your expression... is there good news?”

”Has the collective second-class merit application from last time... been approved?”

Mr. Li laughed out loud hearing this, pointing at Jiang An while laughing: ”You, you, don’t always focus on the merits list of those small achievements.”

”We need a bigger stage, a further vision!”

”A bigger stage?” Jiang An paused slightly, his expression becoming serious, ”You mean...?”

”Just now, Mr. Ma personally called me, sort of giving us a heads-up–”

”The provincial department, after research, has decided to let you–take the complete experience of handling this serial murder case to twelve provincial cities for a touring presentation.”

”Province-wide?”

”Hahaha,” Mr. Li laughed again, ”You thought they really just let you explain the case-solving process and share experiences that simply?”

He held back his laughter, lowering his voice slightly: ”That’s just a lead-in.”

”More importantly, the provincial department hopes to leverage you as a ’living case,’ and while giving reports in each location, also participate in local discussions on difficult cases.”

”Especially those pending for years, unsolved stalemated cases, and challenging cases.”

Jiang An’s eyes suddenly brightened, ”So, this trip of mine... is somewhat like the ’Inspector of Eight Prefectures’ seen in period dramas?”

”With the imperial decree for a tour, investigating old cases, correcting unjust situations?”

”Exactly the meaning!” Mr. Li approvingly slapped the table.

”So, Jiang An, this matter for you personally is a challenge and an invaluable opportunity.”

”For our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation, it’s also a precious occasion to showcase capability, exchange, and learn.”

Then, Mr. Li said solemnly: ”You must remember, once you step out of Jiangcheng, you represent not only yourself.”

”Your every word and deed represent the image and level of our entire Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.”

”Hope you prepare thoroughly, work with utmost dedication, not failing the trust of the provincial department and neither the reputation built over the years in Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation.”

Jiang An immediately stood up, straightened his back, and answered solemnly: ”Yes! I understand.”

”Please rest assured, Mr. Li, I will do my best and not fail the mission!”
