The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Immediately after, Qin Shuang and another member of the criminal investigation team raised a series of supplementary questions one after another.

However, most of these questions no longer touched on the core contradiction of the case; they focused more on repeatedly confirming and systematically sorting out details such as the time of the crime, traces at the scene, and the connections between physical evidence.

Judging from the final conclusions, the inferences they had made earlier based on the crime scene inspection and physical evidence analysis almost completely matched the confession obtained during the interrogation.

About 30 minutes later, the interrogation came to an end, and the five of them walked out of the oppressive interrogation room one after another.

As soon as Political Commissioner Li gently closed the door, he turned around and raised his hand to give Jiang An a heavy pat on the shoulder, his tone unable to hide his excitement: ”Mr. Jiang, this time we really have you to thank!”

”If you hadn’t proposed that crucial line of thought at the critical moment, and then precisely controlled the rhythm during the interrogation and pointed out the contradictions in time, I’m afraid this breach wouldn’t have been torn open so easily.”

Hearing this, Qin Shuang and the other two team members standing opposite all turned their gaze to Jiang An at the same time, with both surprise and heartfelt admiration in their eyes.

Mr. Qin clasped his hands in front of his chest in a cupped-fist salute and said sincerely, ”I truly admire you! We may both be captains of criminal investigation, but your professional competence and expertise are indeed far above mine.”

”Whether it was the earlier deduction of the case or the on-the-spot responses during the interrogation, I benefited immensely.”

At this moment, Director Hou also nodded slightly and continued in a steady tone, ”This round of homicide tackling and巡回 guidance work deployed by the provincial department can be said to have been truly implemented and has achieved results beyond expectations. Of course, the key is having a criminal investigation expert like Jiang An providing support behind the scenes.”

”If He hadn’t come to participate in the investigation, this case might still be groping in the dark for a long time, and it would have been difficult to see a breakthrough in such a short period.”

In the face of everyone’s praise, Jiang An only smiled modestly and replied, ”Political Commissioner Li, Director Hou, Mr. Qin, you’re far too polite.”

”The fundamental reason this case could be opened up so quickly lies in how solid the groundwork was in the early stage—whether it was crime scene inspection, visits and checks, or physical evidence examination, every step was handled rigorously and meticulously, firmly seizing the key clues.”

He paused briefly, then continued, ”What’s more, the body in this case was kept intact and was not cremated in haste after the investigation was concluded, as in some previous cases.”

”If not for that, even if we had any number of ideas today, we would have lost the conditions needed for retrospective verification.”

”In this respect, your forward-looking awareness of evidence preservation is something our criminal investigation work in Jiangcheng should study and learn from.”

Mr. Qin, having been praised like this, actually felt a bit embarrassed.

He hurriedly waved his hand and said earnestly, ”Ah! Mr. Jiang, what you’re saying is far too polite, you’re practically putting me on a pedestal!”

”Honestly, this case hasn’t even been fully wrapped up yet; how can we talk about any so-called experience to share?”

”As long as the case isn’t completely solved, there’s always a stone weighing on my heart.”

He paused, his tone becoming even more serious. ”What’s more, if you hadn’t personally led a team here to guide us this time, with only the progress we had before, this case would probably have remained a boulder that Mr Li couldn’t move from his heart.”

”And not just Mr Li; even for me, it would likely have left an everlasting regret in my career.”

Listening on the side, Political Commissioner Li unconsciously furrowed his brows, as if some heavy memory had been stirred up.

He picked up the conversation slowly, his voice carrying a hint of suppressed emotion: ”Yes, this case has truly been a thorn in my heart.”

”It was hanging there back when I was still serving as captain of the criminal investigation team, and it stayed there after I was transferred to deputy bureau chief. All these years, it has remained exactly the same, not budging an inch.”

”Every time I think of it, there’s a fire in my chest, an unspeakable anger.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand and gave the table a heavy slap, but his tone then eased, ”But now it’s over. The clouds have parted and the fog has cleared. This major case that has weighed on me for over a decade can finally be brought to a satisfactory close.”

He then turned to Jiang An, his gaze solemn. ”Mr. Jiang, I thank you on behalf of the entire criminal investigation division.”

”You led everyone in gnawing through this hard bone and rendered outstanding service to the Qinzhou public security.”

.....

Ten minutes later, Mr. Qin composed a short message with the good news of the successful resolution of the case and sent it to the criminal investigation work group.

The message read: ”Under the precise command of the provincial department’s homicide tackling guidance group and the personal leadership of Mr. Jiang, and after the concerted cooperation of all departments of our bureau and days of continuous fighting, the case has now been successfully solved, and the criminal suspect has fully confessed to the facts of the crime.”

”The successful resolution of the case is inseparable from the hard work of every colleague.”

”Here, I sincerely thank everyone for their long-term support and cooperation with the work of Mr Li and myself!”

Once the message was sent, the previously quiet work group instantly ”boiled over.”

One ”like” emoji after another popped up, and the notification sounds from phones rang out one after another, crackling nonstop.

Many people, while hitting the like button, also could not help expressing heartfelt admiration: ”It hasn’t been easy at all!”

”This is a milestone in the history of our criminal investigation!”

”Director Hou and Mr. Jiang, mighty!”

The atmosphere in the group was heated; it felt as if one could sense everyone’s excitement through the screen.

At this moment, someone half joking and half serious asked, ”Mr. Qin, Mr Li, this case dragged on for so many years and has now been taken down in one fell swoop. Do we have a shot at commendations and awards?”

Mr. Qin quickly replied with a smiling face, then typed, ”Don’t worry, the credit belongs to every comrade who took part.”
