The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”This kind of ’bare-handed crime’ mode usually reflects that the perpetrator lacks premeditation, does not carry tools, and suddenly attacks under specific circumstances.”

”Therefore, although we cannot completely rule out that the murderer had a motive brewing, at least from the behavioral evidence, his actions on the day of the crime were not fully premeditated.”

He raised his gaze, scanning the room, his voice becoming more solemn: ”The third point, which I believe is worth further scrutiny, is the contradiction between the killer’s familiarity with the crime scene environment and their behavior logic.”

”Why could an impromptu perpetrator quickly find such a secluded spot deep in the cornfield to commit the crime?”

”Was it coincidence, or did he inherently possess a certain degree of familiarity with the area?”

”Whether there is crime scene behavior logic that we have yet to discover will directly relate to the profiling of the suspect and the adjustment of the investigation direction.”

Next, Jiang An paused briefly, his tone becoming increasingly deep and grave, ”Let’s delve into the motive behind the killer’s crime.”

”In my view, the core motive of this case is not merely about depriving a life but leans more towards committing sexual assault.”

”In previous analyses of crime motives, we typically categorize motives into several typical models, like murder for robbery, sexual assault murder, or a compound motive involving both robbery and sexual assault.”

”However, in this case, based on the existing clues, I strongly tend to believe the fundamental objective of the killer is ’sexual assault.’

”Firstly, regarding the victim’s personal belongings, despite indications of missing possessions, we need to note that the deceased was a rural woman who worked the fields daily.”

”Such individuals typically do not carry large amounts of cash or valuables while working in the fields.”

”Therefore, if the killer’s motive was robbery, why would he target a rural woman with limited economic conditions who is unlikely to carry valuables?”

”This clearly does not match the logic of typical robbery crimes.”

”One might ask, which rational robber would choose to rob a villager working in a rural field?”

”This choice itself is highly unconventionally illogical.

”Secondly, the killer’s behavior does not solely aim at murder.”

”From the forensic examination report, we can see distinct characteristics of the damage to the victim’s lips and neck.”

”The formation of the injuries was relatively prolonged, not an immediate fatal strike.”

”This ’prolonged’ abuse process actually reflects the killer’s hesitation and repetition in actions, indicating that murder may not have been the primary purpose planned but was accompanying violence during the sexual assault, used to control the victim and eliminate resistance.”

”This violent control behavior directly led to the victim’s neck and lip injuries.”

”These injury patterns, viewed from forensic and criminal psychology perspectives, are precisely evidence of the victim’s intense resistance during coercion.”

”As for the victim’s death outcome, I believe there are two possibilities: First, the killer intentionally silenced the victim after achieving the sexual assault objective.”

”Second, it might be accidental suffocation death during control and resistance.”

”Regardless of which scenario, it further substantiates that ’sexual assault’ is the core motive of the case.”

At this point, Jiang An slightly adjusted his sitting posture, his gaze shifting toward Director Hou and Political Commissioner Li, continuing with a solemn expression: ”Based on these analyses, I suggest the next investigative work should focus on the following two directions:

”Firstly, we need to judiciously evaluate whether the criminal suspect is a familiar face or a stranger.”

”If we assume the killer is a stranger, then why would he choose to commit his crime in a secluded rural field?”

”Based on our investigation materials, Wang Xiu indeed went out to do farm work that day, but her specific travel times were not fixed.”

”How could a stranger accurately grasp her movement trajectory and choose such a hidden and sparsely inhabited place to commit the crime?”

”Logically, this possibility is very low.”

”Thus, I personally lean more towards the possibility of a familiar face committing the crime—the killer is likely quite familiar with Wang Xiu’s daily habits, aware of her schedule, knows the routes she often takes, and even understands that the cornfield is remote, making it hard for Wang Xiu’s calls for help to be noticed.”

”Therefore, I suggest that the next step should focus the investigation on Wang Xiu’s social circle and conduct thorough checks on her acquaintances.

”Secondly, from the criminal methods, the killer used special and cruel means to achieve sexual assault and specifically chose to commit the crime in hidden places like the cornfield.”

”This behavior pattern reflects not only the killer’s abnormal desire for sex but also exposes their distorted psychological state.”

”During the sexual assault, the methods used were extremely cruel, further indicating deep psychological issues or personality disorders, which should become important bases for our subsequent screening and profiling.”

Then Jiang An turned his gaze toward Mr. Qin and asked, ”Mr. Qin, have we detected sperm components in the victim’s body?”

Mr. Qin slightly furrowed his brows, showing some confusion, and replied, ”That’s precisely what puzzles us at present.”

”This clearly involves a case with special sexual assault conduct, and theoretically, we should be able to detect relevant biological components.”

”However, strangely enough, despite repeated tests, the results consistently show negative—meaning no traces of sperm have been found in the victim’s body.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An gently nodded, pondering for a moment before continuing, ”Given this, I believe we need to conduct a more comprehensive and detailed examination of biological samples within the victim’s body.”

”Not only should we focus on conventional body part examinations but also extend to other potentially overlooked areas such as nipples, mouth, and even anus.”

”The perpetrator may have adopted unconventional violation means, and trace evidence from these areas may often provide key breakthroughs in the case.”

As soon as he finished speaking, many in the room nodded in agreement, a few female officers although slightly awkward, blushed slightly but had to admit the rigor and specificity of this approach.

In criminal investigation practices, such comprehensive and deep testing directions indeed exceed the range of standard operations, and just because of this, they are more likely to capture those clues that are easily ignored.

”The third point,” Jiang An continued to add, ”As I mentioned earlier, when delineating the suspect scope, we should focus on screening single, divorced, or males in prolonged sexual suppression states.”

”This group’s psychology and behavior are more prone to extreme tendencies, with higher suspicion degrees.”

”I highly suspect that the killer very likely lurks in this village and has a certain degree of understanding of Wang Xiu’s living habits and daily activities.”

Lastly, he turned his gaze toward Director Hou and said, ”Director Hou, above are some initial analyses and thoughts I made based on current situations, please provide pointers for any deficiencies.”

Upon hearing this, Director Hou slightly nodded, then turned to the participants and said, ”Just now, Mr. Jiang’s analysis was indeed very precise, not only with clear reasoning but also unique insights.”

”The exchange this morning was already quite full, and everyone’s opinions and suggestions were highly constructive.”

”And the case analysis this afternoon was even more splendid, opening up new lines of thought for us.”

”He accurately grasped the three key features of the case and put forward three very actionable suggestions accordingly.”

”These six points are not only logically tight and interconnected but also perfectly align with the investigation direction and practical needs of this case.”

”I believe that currently, we can fully proceed with the clear line of thought and conduct in-depth follow-up work accordingly.”
