The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”If we want to clarify the case within just a short span of ten minutes, even introducing the basic situation might consume all the time.”

”Moreover,” he paused to add, ”we also don’t wish to take up valuable discussion time from our fellow units.”

”This case indeed has met a bottleneck and urgently needs expert guidance from Captain Jiang.”

The laughter in the venue gradually subsided, and everyone’s gaze focused on Jiang An, eagerly awaiting his response.

Director Hou slightly turned and glanced at Jiang An beside him, asking gently, ”Captain Jiang, what do you think about the invitation from Qinzhou City Bureau?”

Jiang An’s lips curved into a modest smile as he replied, ”I appreciate the trust and invitation from Qinzhou City Bureau.”

”If my subsequent schedule allows, I would be more than happy to visit, learn, and share insights with fellow colleagues to collaboratively explore case-solving strategies and enhance each other.”

Just as he finished speaking, Qin Feng, the criminal investigation team leader from Qinzhou City Public Security Bureau on the other end of the screen, leaned forward eagerly, nodding continuously, ”Thank you so much, Captain Jiang!”

”Our entire bureau will make full preparations and sincerely look forward to your arrival!”

Soon after, the connection indicator from Xichuan City Public Security Bureau lit up.

Director Hou glanced at the list, continuing to host the proceedings, ”Chief Qi, please tell us about the challenges you’re currently facing.”

”Director Hou, our issues are highly similar to those encountered by Qinzhou City Bureau.”

Chief Qi’s voice was steady yet carried a hint of gravity, ”We earnestly invite Captain Jiang An to come and guide our special case investigation work—though it’s just a single request, it reflects the unresolved challenges we’ve faced over the years.”

Director Hou raised an eyebrow slightly at the words, ”Although it’s merely an invitation, one can foresee the considerable time and effort Captain Jiang would need to dedicate if he accepts—could this be another tricky case?”

”Tricky is putting it lightly.”

Chief Qi sighed deeply, his tone becoming increasingly weighty, ”This case has already led to the establishment and subsequent dissolution of four special investigation teams.”

”Our director to this day feels remorse when mentioning this case—it was a priority case personally overseen by him, with immense effort invested during the investigation, yet unfortunately, we haven’t made a breakthrough.”

”Precisely because of this, we especially hope for guidance from an experienced expert like Captain Jiang to point us in the right direction. Could Captain Jiang arrange his schedule?”

Director Hou again turned his inquiring gaze towards Jiang An.

Jiang An nodded confidently, expressing earnestly, ”It would be my honor to share case-handling experiences with colleagues in Xichuan City.”

”Fantastic!” Chief Qi’s voice was noticeably enthusiastic, ”We will coordinate specific arrangements with you immediately after the meeting!”

Subsequently, other criminal investigation heads from various localities also joined the discussion one after another.

Surprisingly, the requests they submitted were strikingly similar—all hoping to invite Jiang An to provide guidance on resolving backlog cases.

The originally scheduled half-hour Q&A session concluded in just ten minutes, as all queries pointed to the same direction.

Finally, Director Hou summed up, ”Today, the Q&A session exceeded expectations and wrapped up twenty minutes ahead of schedule.”

”But this precisely indicates that we may need to invest potentially thousands of times more effort afterward.”

”Considering the situation reported from various areas, there is evidently a broad demand throughout the province for breakthroughs in homicide backlog case-solving technologies, which also reveals our shortcomings in tackling tough cases.”

After a brief pause, he surveyed the room with a resolute tone, ”In view of such high enthusiasm, I have already consulted with leaders from the hall.”

”Next, we will launch a province-wide special action to tackle homicide backlog cases, deploying professional forces across different cities for systematic guidance, striving to break through a number of major challenging backlog cases, and comprehensively enhance the provincial criminal investigation level.”

”Certainly, in upcoming work advancements, we will concentrate the hall’s most elite forces to form a highly skilled and responsive expert team.”

”In this team, Captain Jiang is undoubtedly a central figure, an indispensable key member in the investigation process.”

”Therefore, in handling this series of cases, I firmly believe Jiang An will play a pivotal role, leading everyone to sift through complex clues and pinpoint the investigation direction.”

”We will fully rely on case information reported from various cities, use practical experience and data analysis, and implement a precise case-specific investigation mechanism.”

”For different localities and different case types, we will deeply analyze their inner links and breakthrough points, striving to achieve breakthroughs at key junctures and propel the overall investigation work forward substantively.”

As soon as he finished, lively and sustained applause erupted again from each venue in the video conference.

Every attendee’s face radiated with hope and expectation, expressing a desire to overcome challenges and genuine trust in Jiang An’s professional capabilities.

At 12:10 PM, the conference concluded successfully amid a spirited atmosphere.

After the meeting, leaders from the provincial hall and city bureaus approached Jiang An to shake hands and exchange views.

Through just this one insightful and substantive lecture, Jiang An garnered unanimous recognition from all levels of the system.

Not only was his profound foundation in criminal investigation theory fully affirmed, but his rich practical experience was also admired.

It’s particularly notable that, although the practical techniques he taught seemed straightforward, they precisely targeted pain points and challenges in grassroots case handling.

Colleagues from throughout the province promptly extended invitations, hoping he would visit to provide guidance and exchanges, fully demonstrating that Jiang An’s practical case-solving ability has earned widespread praise and trust from frontline officers.

At this moment, General Director Yang from the hall steadily stepped forward, gently patting Jiang An on the shoulder, ”Comrade Jiang An, well done!”

”So young, yet possessing such profound insights and a strong sense of responsibility, it’s truly impressive.”

He paused slightly, gave a quick glance at the officers present, and continued, ”We organize quite a few professional lectures and learning activities regularly, but frankly speaking, even if we senior crime investigators took turns lecturing, it might be hard to achieve such an outstanding lecture as today.”

”Combining solid theoretical depth and relevant frontline practice, your simple yet structured approach benefits the listeners greatly!”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An immediately adjusted his stance, humbly responding, ”General Director Yang, you flatter me.”

”As a criminal investigation officer, I always see myself as constantly learning and accumulating.”

”Every little progress I make relies on meticulous nurturing from the organization, concern and guidance from the director, as well as support and help from my colleagues.”

”Haha, maintaining such composure and modesty even in the face of achievements is rare!” General Director Yang’s smile widened, showing more anticipation.

”Our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation team owes its solid foundation to the partnership between Mr. Ma and Mr. Li, and now Mr. Li, along with young talents like yourself, are striving forward together.”

”If this momentum continues, Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation could undoubtedly lead not just citywide, but statewide, setting a benchmark!”

”Young people like you bring ideas, dynamism, and responsibility, which are exactly what our endeavor’s progress depends on.”

He paused briefly, continuing, ”Currently, the hall plans to form a crime investigation expert group, focusing efforts on several key cases for systematic guidance to advance challenging case resolutions.”

”I propose Director Hou be the team leader, and Jiang An, you serve as the deputy leader, co-heading this task.”

”I hope you will lead the expert group, delve into the frontline, thoroughly sort and investigate related provincial cases, leaving no stone unturned.”

”Through this comprehensive focus attack, we strive to solve several backlog and difficult cases, truly responding to public expectations, and make tangible contributions to enhancing provincial criminal investigation efficiency!”

”Yes!”

Director Hou and Jiang An simultaneously stood straight, performed a standard police salute.

”We resolutely obey organizational arrangements and guarantee task completion, never failing the trust and expectations of our leaders!”
