The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 349: Chapter 215: This Is the Truth

”What are you going to the supermarket for?” Li Jian asked in surprise.

”I’m going to get my charcoal and the iron basin used for burning.”

”Where did you hide the tools used for the crime?”

Liu Tie nodded: ”Because I was worried that my actions would be exposed, I hid the charcoal and the basin in a public locker during the day, so I didn’t worry about putting them there.”

”What happened next?”

”After retrieving the charcoal and basin, I returned to the apartment again, but this time, I didn’t enter through the front door.”

”I climbed over the fence in one spot, because I had been to the apartment many times and had studied the terrain.”

”There’s one section of the fence where the ground is higher, and I can easily climb over it.”

”What time was it then?”

”I remember it was around one o’clock. When I climbed over the fence and quietly entered their home, I carefully avoided the surveillance cameras.”

”I opened the door with a key.”

”What was the situation inside at that time?”

”Liang Yan and Yang Guang were presumably asleep; I vaguely heard Yang Guang snoring.”

”All the lights in the room were off, the bedroom door was ajar, indicating they likely hadn’t noticed it was open.”

”I quietly approached their bedroom door, and by the moonlight through the curtain gap, I saw the two of them lying naked together.”

”Initially, I admired Liang Yan greatly. Seeing this scene made me burn with rage.”

After a slight pause, Liu Tie said: ”Actually, I had never made up my mind to commit murder.”

”That night, though I had planned to commit murder, I hesitated and struggled, but after seeing that scene, I was utterly crushed.”

”I even thought of picking up a knife to dismember them in pieces.”

”But to protect myself, I chose to use charcoal.”

”That night, when I brought in the charcoal, it had already started burning.”

”So, I placed it at the bedroom door, closed the door slightly, and in that confined space allowed the carbon monoxide to accumulate.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian continued to ask: ”Where were you during the ignition process?”

Liu Tie chuckled: ”I was waiting for them to die, of course.”

”I sat on the sofa in the living room, smoked a cigarette, and silently waited for death to come.”

Li Jian was momentarily stunned.

He hadn’t expected this seemingly clean-cut, sunny young man to have such a dark interior.

He then asked sternly: ”When did you realize the two were dead?”

”After about two hours, when I suddenly didn’t hear Yang Guang’s snoring, I guessed the time was about right.”

”So I put on a mask, went inside, and confirmed they were both no longer breathing.”

”What did you do afterward?”

”I extinguished the charcoal with water, packed it in the bag I brought, and took it away.”

”Before leaving, I deliberately left the key on the shoe cabinet’s surface.”

Jiang An and Li Jian nodded in agreement after hearing his testimony.

The entire crime process matched their previous analysis perfectly.

Li Jian then continued: ”Why do you resent Liang Yan so much that you wanted to silence her?”

”Why? You’re not considering what she did back then!”

”I built up the courage to confess to her, invested so much effort, swallowed my pride, and what did she do?”

”She and her roommates kicked my candles and crushed my roses.”

At this point, Liu Tie clenched his fists, inwardly furious.

”If she had simply refused or declined, I wouldn’t have minded much; at worst, I wasn’t good enough for her. But her actions were blatantly insulting my dignity.”

Jiang An noticed the anger flashing across his face.

Actually, personally, the actions of Liang Yan and her dorm mates were indeed excessive back then.

Liu Tie continued: ”Because of that incident, I was notorious throughout my four years of university, always keeping a low profile, without a girlfriend, and constantly under the judgment of my peers. At one point, I contemplated suicide.”

”However, I eventually persevered, and the only motivation that kept me going was revenge.”

”Revenge?”

Liu Tie said solemnly: ”Yes, I wanted revenge.”

He laughed, ”If you hadn’t caught me in time, more than just two people would have died.”

Hearing this, Jiang An and Li Jian both felt a shiver of fear.

”What do you mean? Was he planning to kill her other three roommates?”

Liu Tie nodded emotionlessly, ”Back then, to set up that confession scene, I ate instant noodles for a month.”

”I must avenge this grievance.”

As he spoke, Liu Tie’s expression twisted somewhat.

Instantly, the entire room fell silent.

Jiang An and Li Jian stared at the young man before them, as if looking at a murderously insane person.

After a while, Jiang An asked: ”Besides you, was anyone else involved in this case?”

Liu Tie shook his head: ”No.”

”I can handle them both alone.”

Finally, he said: ”But, had I not left that set of keys behind, you might never have traced it back to me.”

Jiang An’s mouth twitched: ”That’s what you assume.”

”The net of justice is wide-meshed, yet none can escape.”

”I firmly believe there’s no perfect crime in this world, and even if there were, we will find the best way to overcome it.”

Li Jian stood up and said: ”You will await the severe punishment of the law. I hope you can mend your ways and live earnestly once you are released.”

”It doesn’t matter; living makes you a man, dying makes you a hero.”

Li Jian said solemnly: ”Who knew, you actually have such courage.”

Then, Jiang An and Li Jian walked out of the interrogation room together.

Outside the interrogation room, Zhang Yean, Wan, and others quickly gathered around.

They had watched the entire interrogation process through the surveillance’s one-way video.

Wan said excitedly: ”Brother Jiang An, you’re amazing! I remember that when we examined the keys, we only found carbon residue, not fingerprints.”

Others agreed: ”Yes, I don’t recall any fingerprints either.”

As they spoke, Mr. Fu and Mr. Qin also showed a curious expression.

Li Jian smiled without speaking.

Jiang An said solemnly: ”No fingerprints, I added that part myself.”

”Whoa, it seemed so real! You even did a live experiment, and the same carbon residue, touched by hand.”

Instantly, everyone gave a thumbs up.

Li Jian chuckled: ”The Art of War, does it include that trick? It’s truly unexpected, the troops never tire of deception!”

Jiang An turned to look at Li Jian, and said: ”I thought your words to Liu Tie would completely crush him, but he clearly looks like a slick character, probably guessing whatever we would ask.”

”We didn’t have solid evidence, so I took a gamble, connecting the carbon residue on the key to the ink cartridge and fingerprint card I glimpsed in the drawer.”

”I didn’t expect it would achieve such a good effect.”

Zhang Yean laughed: ”During that scene, when you did the experiment, not only him, but even we ourselves would be scared.”

”This proves that practical demonstration is more powerful than theoretical teaching.”

”Exactly, exactly, this way of applying fingerprints on-site is far more impactful than a fingerprint evaluation document.”

Li Jian looked at Jiang An, very satisfied.

Honestly, if Jiang An hadn’t pulled off that move, that tough nut might not have been cracked.

He laughed and said: ”Now, I declare this case successfully solved.”
