The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 302: Chapter 192: Clue Broken, Stalemate

”Hmm!”

Jiang An nodded in response.

”I’ll follow Mr. Zhang’s instructions.”

Soon, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan joined the surveillance investigation team.

Jiang An glanced at the surveillance investigation equipment, which was merely a display screen and had not yet evolved to the level of using software for capturing special elements.

At this moment, the 100-square-meter office fell silent instantly.

Everyone focused their gaze on the display screen.

They didn’t miss a single person in their view.

After two hours, Zhang Feng excitedly said, ”Found him!”

”That mysterious man appears in this footage.”

Instantly, others moved over.

In the surveillance video, a man was seen wearing a baseball cap and dressed in black, moving suspiciously.

”This person’s attire and the timing of his appearance entirely match the clues provided by Zhang Biao.”

Zhang Feng spoke while fixating on the monitor.

At this time, Jiang An was also closely observing the man’s moving direction.

In the footage, the man’s figure became increasingly distant until he disappeared.

Immediately after, based on the man’s movement direction, Zhang Feng moved the mouse and clicked on the next surveillance file.

This was a private camera record of a grocery store owner. The quality of the surveillance footage was not high, but one could see the shape of the person.

One of the officers asked, ”Where is this moving towards?”

”Ahead is McDonald’s!”

”On that day, Zhang Biao and Li Lan ate there for lunch.”

Five minutes later, the man in black disappeared around the corner.

Then, Zhang Feng moved the mouse to open other video surveillance folders.

After 30 minutes, nothing of the man in black appeared in the video surveillance.

”Strange?”

”Where did he disappear to?”

Mr. He raised his hand to touch his chin, falling into contemplation.

Mr. Zhang once again scanned the location of the surveillance records in the folder.

He squinted slightly, with the road layout where the man in black disappeared vividly in his mind.

The place did not allow motor vehicles, only pedestrians.

In his view, these surveillance camera locations already covered all exits of that place.

”Could it be he has been hiding all along?”

After thinking for a while, Jiang An said, ”Mr. Zhang, how did Zhang Biao and Li Lan leave?”

”According to Zhang Biao’s recall, after they ate at McDonald’s, they went down into the basement garage from the store.”

Jiang An then asked, ”Is the basement garage connected?”

”Not connected!”

As soon as these words were finished, Mr. Zhang suddenly realized.

No, the two places had already connected north and south two months ago.

”Two months ago?”

Zhang Feng instantly stood up and paced back and forth in the office.

After a minute, he muttered to himself, ”I remember now!”

”At that time, the garage had just connected and was in a trial operation phase.”

”The man in black could completely enter the basement through the adjacent Chinese restaurant.”

No sooner said than done, Mr. Zhang quickly stated, ”Mr. He, go and obtain the surveillance from that Chinese restaurant and the garage immediately.”

”Yes!”

Promptly, Mr. He led two officers quickly out the door.

Twenty minutes later, Zhang Feng’s phone rang.

When the call was connected, Mr. He said, ”Chief, there’s no surveillance data found here.”

”What’s going on?”

”The restaurant’s surveillance system was updated a month ago, and the data was cleared.”

”As for the underground garage surveillance, because it was in the trial phase, the system was not compatible and did not save data.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Feng instantly flew into a rage.

The surveillance tracking ended up disappearing here.

Since this man in black entered the basement, it’s highly possible he had a vehicle.

If there were surveillance records, it might lock down this person’s identity.

Just as everyone was feeling a bit disheartened, suddenly, a criminal investigation officer ran in.

”Chief Zhang, there’s a discovery at the entrance surveillance of the campus commercial street.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Feng quickly turned around.

”Go! Let’s go have a look!”

Soon, everyone arrived at the adjacent office.

Seeing the chief come over, the officer hurriedly said, ”We reviewed the monitoring at the entrance of the campus, and in camera 7, shortly after Li Lan appeared, a man wearing black clothes and a black baseball cap walked into the surveillance.”

”Moreover, the direction of their movement was entirely the same.”

Mr. Zhang nodded, ”This camera is a bit far away. Do we have a better one?”

Subsequently, the officer manipulated the mouse again, opening other surveillance record folders.

An hour later, after observing all the surveillance cameras, no sign of that man was seen.

Mr. Zhang glanced at the position of the surveillance records, speaking in a deep voice, ”This camera is at a high location, making it hard to see clearly.”

”However, judging from the size and physique, it should not be a major issue.”

At this moment, Jiang An said, ”I remember Zhang Biao said Li Lan walked towards the school after getting out of the car.”

The young officer glanced at Jiang An, ”The direction both of them moved towards is the direction of the art college.”

”Can the school’s surveillance be obtained?”

”Someone has gone to retrieve it!”

As soon as he finished speaking, a slightly chubby man came running up, panting.

”Mr. Li, we don’t need to personally obtain the surveillance!”

”I’ve asked a friend in the school security department to transfer it directly.”

”This way, our investigation speed will be faster.”

Five minutes later, the computer beeped with an incoming transfer.

”The files are here!”

Soon, everyone once again fixed their eyes on the display screen.

The officer instantly opened the surveillance files.

Five minutes later, the footage showed Li Lan walking alone into the campus entrance with a shoulder bag.

Seeing this, everyone was quite baffled internally.

”Why is there no one else?”

”Could it be that the previous person was not the mysterious man in black?”

”No way!”

....

For a moment, many people started whispering, speculating amongst themselves.

Considering the prior camera’s high position and unclear image of the person, even Zhang Feng felt a bit unsure!

He turned his head to look at Jiang An.

At this moment, Jiang An was closely observing the monitor screen.

Two minutes later, Mr. Zhang asked, ”What are you thinking?”

Jiang An answered, ”I am comparing and observing Li Lan’s walking posture.”

”Walking posture?”

Mr. Zhang was somewhat surprised.

This term was quite novel.

He continued, ”I recall from the cameras on the pedestrian street, Li Lan walked briskly with confidence, swinging her arms widely.”

”Even through the earlier high-positioned camera, you could still see her head held high, walking cheerfully.”

”But!”

”From what the school’s surveillance records show, I feel Li Lan’s walking posture becomes somewhat heavy.”

”Her head lowered, taking small steps, with no visible arm movement.”

At this time, the young officer again brought up the surveillance video of Li Lan entering the school.

With Jiang An’s prompt, everyone focused their observation on Li Lan’s walking posture.

Moments later, one of the officers commented, ”It really is like that! This clearly indicates she’s preoccupied.”

Zhang Feng also nodded gently.

”Why would it happen like this?”

”Could something have occurred on the way?”

After contemplating for a while, Jiang An said deeply, ”I suspect there might have been direct contact between the man in black and Li Lan.”

”Direct contact?”

Instantly, everyone appeared surprised.

For Jiang An’s speculation, Mr. Zhang didn’t find it unreasonable.

In the surveillance, the two were walking in the same direction.

Li Lan’s mood changes could be analyzed and inferred through her physical movements.

Moments later, Zhang Feng said, ”It’s entirely possible.”

He turned his head and asked, ”Is there a camera midway?”

The young officer shook his head, ”We looked at the surveillance distribution map of that road, there is no surveillance.”

Mr. Zhang furrowed his brows heavily.

How did this lead break again?

Jiang An looked at the surveillance screen and said in a deep voice, ”If they made contact, what might have happened?”
