The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 334: Chapter 208: Hello! I Am Jiang An, the Forensic Doctor! (Part 2)

As soon as the words were spoken, everyone else nodded in agreement.

”This should be the breakthrough in our next investigation.”

Mr. Ma looked at Li Jian, who also nodded firmly.

Then Mr. Ma calmly arranged, ”The next task will proceed from these aspects.”

”First, conduct a trace evidence test on the set of keys in Jiang An’s hand to determine if it’s carbon. This will help us judge whether the killer used this key to enter the scene. If the killer brought charcoal onto the scene, it would make sense that carbon particles were left on the key.”

”Second, investigate the first person who entered the scene after the crime. Ask them to recall the initial appearance of the scene, especially the condition of the doors and windows, the position of the keys, and the arrangement inside. This information is crucial to our investigation.”

”Third, investigate the colleagues and friends of the two deceased to see if either party lost their keys before the incident, especially the friends who sent them home the last night. Their statements are very critical.”

Finally, Mr. Ma spoke seriously and solemnly, ”Comrades, this case has now reached a fever pitch.”

”From initially concluding it to be a death from alcohol poisoning, we have now confirmed it as carbon monoxide poisoning.”

”It has now transformed from an accidental event to a murder case involving two deaths.”

”We are under great pressure and our responsibilities are immense.”

”So, I urge all participants to maintain a high level of focus.”

”For our Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, this is another significant challenge.”

”Initially, due to various reasons, we classified the case as an accidental death, and many investigation materials were not promptly followed up, which was very unfavorable for our subsequent investigation.”

”In my view, the longer the time drags on, the harder it becomes to fix and search for investigation clues. Hence, we must have a strong sense of urgency and race against time.”

”Through interviews, examining surveillance videos, and other channels, search for any suspicious individuals appearing around the apartment complex before and after the crime.”

After speaking, all personnel nodded to express understanding, each rubbing their hands, eager to start.

Then Mr. Ma encouraged everyone: ”Although the nature of this case has changed, do not despair.”

”Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation has a fine tradition; many seemingly extremely difficult cases are ultimately successfully solved during investigation.”

”We must have confidence and complete assurance in ourselves.”

”The perpetrator of this case has strong counter-investigation capabilities and is deeply disguised. However, fortunately, at the final stage, we still saw through his real face and confirmed this as a homicide, which has significant guiding importance for our upcoming work.”

”So, everyone must have confidence and determination. I believe as long as we work together, we will certainly catch the perpetrator soon.”

With Mr. Ma’s encouragement, everyone’s spirits were high and they were full of vigor.

Everyone displayed a determined expression on their faces, with an undaunted spirit in their eyes.

Finally, Mr. Ma said, ”Let’s start work according to the previous arrangements. If anything requires further coordination, report to me in time.”

As Mr. Ma turned to leave, Captain Li Jian quickly took a few steps to stop him, asking, ”Mr. Ma, on the phone earlier, you arranged to convene forensic experts for a study, what do you think about this...”

Mr. Ma waved his hand, saying, ”No need for the study.”

”At first, I thought the cause of death was controversial, but now after your scene investigations, I think there is no longer any need for discussion; the cause of death, as Jiang An said, is carbon monoxide poisoning.”

While speaking, he looked up at Jiang An, his eyes filled with appreciation.

Then, he walked over, patted Jiang An on the shoulder, and praised him, ”Hard work, if you hadn’t promptly proposed your viewpoint and persisted, we might have let a bad person go.”

Jiang An nodded, earnestly saying, ”I am a forensic doctor, my duty is to speak for the deceased.”

”In this case, the information conveyed by the deceased is the belief I have persisted in.”

Mr. Ma nodded, saying, ”With a forensic doctor like you, I think Forensic Doctor Wu can take a rest.”

”As the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, I also feel especially relieved, because with you here, no matter what case we encounter, we have no fear.”

Finally, Mr. Ma nodded with satisfaction, turned around, and left with large strides.

Soon, everyone moved quickly.

Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean carried the set of keys and rushed to the police car, driving swiftly to Jiangcheng Medical University’s Evidence Identification Center.

In the police car, Wan held the steering wheel, somewhat worriedly saying, ”Jiang An, in this case, the Evidence Identification Center identified the two deceased as having died from alcohol poisoning, but your view is carbon monoxide poisoning.”

”Do you think we might receive dirty looks when we go there this time?”

Jiang An smiled and comforted, ”Haha, how could that be? Professional exchanges and discussions don’t have so many twists and turns.”

”Moreover, our starting point is to uncover the truth.”

Zhang Yean also laughed and echoed, ”Exactly, Wan, you’re overthinking it.”

”The Evidence Identification Center at Jiangcheng Medical University charges quite a lot for autopsy, at least fifteen thousand each time. They focus more on economic benefits, unlike us, handling each case is our responsibility.”

”Haha, when you say it like that, it seems to be true.”

”Then later when we go there, we’ll just openly state our purpose.”

Wan laughed, hitting the accelerator, and the police car sped off.

After thirty minutes, the three people arrived at Jiangcheng Medical University’s Evidence Identification Center with the evidence.

Jiangcheng Medical University’s Evidence Identification Center has a wide range of operations, including forensic identification, toxicology testing, and forensic anthropology identification, among other subfields.

The three arrived at the reception hall, coincidentally as the forensic team had just returned from an external autopsy, carrying a large pile of human organs, registering at the case reception desk.

Beside them, a middle-aged man wearing glasses noticed the case name on the evidence bag in Jiang An’s hand and showed a surprised expression.

He stepped forward and asked, ”Young man, are you from the Jiangcheng Criminal Police Team?” Jiang An nodded affirmatively, ”Yes.”

”This case had our Evidence Identification Center conduct an autopsy in the early stages; has the case been closed?”

Wan turned his head, glanced at the man whose hair was still intact, and said, ”The nature of the case has changed; it’s not accidental death but murder!”

Instantly, the man’s face was full of astonishment, saying, ”No way, the initial identification result was death from alcohol poisoning, could it be a case of murder involving drinking?”

Seeing the man’s curious expression, Wan, still being honest, said, ”Teacher, this corpse was identified by our Jiangcheng City Bureau’s own forensic doctor as having died from carbon monoxide poisoning, not alcohol poisoning.”

In a flash, the evidence almost slipped from the middle-aged man’s hand.

He incredulously said, ”How is that possible? Both individuals had extremely high alcohol levels in their bodies, almost reaching lethal levels.”

”Moreover, we didn’t find conditions for carbon monoxide poisoning at the scene at the time.”

Zhang Yean, straightforward and outspoken, stepped forward and said, ”Teacher, maybe it was because the scene didn’t seem to have conditions for carbon monoxide poisoning that everyone was misled into making presumptions from the start.”

”However, now, following the autopsy by our Jiangcheng Police Station’s forensic doctor Jiang An, the situation has been completely reversed.”

”Forensic Doctor Jiang An?”

”I’ve never heard of him.”

The middle-aged man’s face showed surprise.

Zhang Yean glanced at Jiang An and replied, ”He just joined our police station less than two to three months ago.”

”No wonder, I’ve indeed never seen him.”

Wan joked with a smile, ”Teacher, now you see him in person; he is right in front of you.”

Instantly, the man’s gaze locked onto Jiang An.

Jiang An looked at him steadily and said calmly, ”Hello, I’m Forensic Doctor Jiang An.”
