The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 337: Chapter 210: Narrowing Down the Suspect Pool

At this moment, the meeting room was enveloped in stark white light, with a heavy atmosphere like an invisible net, tightly binding every officer attending the meeting.

Just as Jiang An finished speaking, the scene exploded instantly.

The young officer, Zhang, widened his eyes suddenly, and the pen in his hand unconsciously dropped as he exclaimed in surprise, ”How is that possible?”

”Using the victim’s own house key to commit murder, that’s simply unheard of, like a bizarre plot in a movie, it’s absurd!”

The elderly officer, Mr. Wang, sitting next to him, also shook his head, saying with a grave expression, ”Yeah, I’ve been working in criminal investigation for half my life, and I’ve never encountered such a strange case, it’s truly incredible.”

”Should we consider other approaches?”

.....

After a pause, Jiang An continued, ”Currently, the scene investigation has yielded some preliminary results, we’ve gathered a large number of footprints at the scene.”

”However, due to the disorderly entry of personnel in the initial stage, the scene could not be timely and effectively preserved.”

Recalling the situation at that time, Li, who was responsible for the preliminary scene investigation, sighed with regret and helplessness, ”The scene was too chaotic at the time, if we could realize the importance of protecting the scene earlier, perhaps a lot of clues and evidence could have been preserved.”

Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”It’s okay, our main focus now is to meticulously check the photos taken at the scene, trying to find any trace left by the suspect.”

As Jiang An spoke, he turned to look at Li Jian.

In their exchanged glances, Li Jian nodded gently, as if giving himself encouragement.

Jiang An said, ”When investigating the scene, we found that the wardrobe showed no signs of being rummaged through, and the money in the house remained untouched.”

”From this, we can infer that the murderer’s motive was not robbery, but purely killing, with a very clear objective.”

”I believe there is very likely an unknown deep-seated grudge behind this.”

After reporting the scene investigation, Jiang An turned to Li Jian, saying, ”Mr. Li, that’s all I have to say about the scene investigation.”

Li Jian nodded lightly, with a serious expression, saying, ”What Comrade Jiang An just said was very well put.”

”He not only provided a detailed report on the corpse but also closely tied it with the scene, explaining several key points very clearly, I completely agree.”

”However, the more we sort through this case, the trickier it seems!”

Afterwards, Li Jian continued, ”Regarding the investigation of the first person to enter the scene, let me briefly explain the situation.”

”This morning, we conducted an investigation on the person who reported the case.”

”He claimed that the door was closed but not locked, and the locksmith opened the door through the peephole.”

”Moreover, the curtains in the living room were drawn, presumably by the murderer to conceal the environment and prevent exposure.”

”The bedroom windows were closed, but the living room windows were wide open.”

”This was most likely done by the killer to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning during the crime.”

”This matches the situation Jiang An just described.”

”During the killing process, the murderer achieved both the purpose of killing and self-protection.”

”As discussed earlier, we currently lean towards the door being opened with that set of keys.”

”As for the origin of these keys, and how the killer obtained them, this will be our focus for the next investigation.”

”In interviewing the first person, we also specifically gathered information about the two deceased’s contacts in work and life, but unfortunately found no leads on any suspects.”

”Therefore, defining the range of suspicious persons remains our key focus for the next discussion.”

Then, Li Jian sighed and said, ”This case is like a tangled mess, we must quickly find the lead.”

”Otherwise, the longer it drags on, the more disadvantageous it will be for us.”

Li Jian’s brows furrowed into a tight ’川’ shape, his eyes revealing deep anxiety and firm determination.

After speaking, he turned to Mr. Fu, saying, ”Mr. Fu, please talk about the surveillance situation.”

Mr. Fu promptly stood up, cleared his throat, and said, ”Okay, I’ll briefly discuss the surveillance situation.”

”We retrieved all surveillance cameras from the talent apartment complex as well as within a two-kilometer radius around it.”

”Upon careful review using software, we found that within four hours before and after the incident, no suspicious individuals were observed passing through.”

”After the two deceased returned home, their two friends left through the main entrance, with no other persons entering or exiting.”

”Since the incident occurred in the early morning, there were few people on the streets, and the software captured very few individuals.”

Hearing this, Li Jian frowned deeply and asked, ”Can the times when these two friends left and entered be confirmed?”

Mr. Fu quickly nodded and responded, ”Through surveillance, it’s clear that the two friends escorted the two deceased home, passing by the entrance camera at 10:05 PM, and left at 10:17 PM.”

”They left shortly after dropping off the deceased.”

”Thereafter, until around three or four in the morning, no suspicious individuals appeared on the camera.”

Li Jian continued to ask, ”How many exits are there in the community where the deceased lived?”

Mr. Fu answered, ”The community has a total of three exits.”

”The main entrance, which is where the surveillance is located, is the most commonly used by everyone, and the other two gates are closed at night.”

Li Jian asked further, ”So, do you mean that during the time of the incident, entering or leaving the community must be through the main entrance?”

Mr. Fu nodded affirmatively, ”You could say that unless the killer could fly, they most likely had to use the main entrance to enter or exit the community.”
