The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 344: Chapter 213: He Is the Prime Suspect

The trip to Kawasaki Institute of Technology, Li Jian and Jiang An both basically concluded that Liu Tie was highly suspicious.

At least at this level, they have reason to believe Liu Tie has a strong motive for the crime.

Thirty minutes later, the group drove back to the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.

Captain Li Jian had just returned to the office, took a sip of water, and the other two teams that went out to investigate also returned one after another.

According to the work arrangement, Mr. Qin had previously led a team out to investigate, focusing on investigating the personal relationships of the deceased Liang Yan and Yang Guang, and verified the criminal suspicions of the four people Li Yong mentioned.

He reported: ”Mr. Li, our investigation found that Liang Yan and Yang Guang have a very good reputation in their unit.”

”The two of them have just started working, are enthusiastic and well-liked by colleagues and leaders, and get along well with others without any obvious conflicts.”

Li Jian nodded, originally holding a glimmer of hope in his heart to find a breakthrough in the interpersonal relationships of the two, but upon hearing this, the hope was instantly dashed.

However, he still restrained himself and asked, ”Is there any new discovery regarding their romantic relationships?”

Mr. Qin replied: ”Mr. Li, according to our investigation, Yang Guang is relatively handsome, and three girls in the unit are interested in him.”

”However, we investigated these three girls and found that they were singing together at a KTV on the night of the crime, without the time to commit the crime.”

Li Jian continued to ask: ”And how about Liang Yan’s personal relationships?”

Mr. Qin glanced at his notebook and said: ”Liang Yan is naturally beautiful and outgoing, and many boys in the unit have a good impression of her.”

”Among them, four boys have expressed their intention to pursue Liang Yan publicly, including those Li Yong reflected.”

”People only talk about Liang Yan and Yang Guang’s relationship as idle chat, without showing obvious dissatisfaction or any malicious attempts to break them up.”

”Moreover, according to our investigation, except for Liu Tie and Li Yong, the other people have alibis for the night of the crime.”

”They were either working overtime or having a late gathering with friends.”

Li Jian listened, his brows unconsciously furrowing deep in thought.

He weighed these clues in his mind repeatedly, trying to find a flaw, and after a while, he slowly asked: ”Have these alibis been verified?”

Mr. Qin nodded: ”Yes, we reviewed the surveillance videos from the places they were at that night and confirmed their alibis.”

”Additionally, Liang Yan’s colleagues also blessed their union.”

”Both are attractive pair and seem very compatible.”

”Liang Yan’s supervisor even praised Yang Guang, and after they got together, they invited colleagues and their supervisor to dine together, so they have very good relations in both male and female units.”

Li Jian nodded lightly: ”Thank you for your hard work, any other reports?”

Mr. Qin shook his head, ”That’s all for now.”

”Okay, you all take a rest first, report to me promptly if there are any new discoveries.”

Mr. Qin nodded: ”Mr. Li, we’ll return to the office to continue studying the case, notify us whenever needed.”

At this moment, Mr. Fu sitting beside spoke: ”Mr. Li, our group has found some discoveries.”

He leaned forward, opened a notebook, and reported: ”Mr. Li, according to our investigation, there are 30 places in the main downtown area where charcoal is purchased.”

”In the past month, a total of 20 people have purchased charcoal.”

Li Jian nodded as he listened: ”Who are these 20 people?”

Mr. Fu replied: ”They include street barbecue stall owners as well as young people going out for barbecue.”

”We have reviewed these 20 people, and apart from one person—Liu Tie—I’ve already arranged for thorough investigation personnel.”

”So far, we have completed 15 people’s investigation, with 4 others still ongoing.”

As soon as he finished, Li Jian and Jiang An spoke in unison: ”Liu Tie bought it too?”

Mr. Fu was a bit surprised: ”Yes, is that strange?”

Then, he added: ”Wasn’t it mentioned in a meeting this morning that someone reported they went for outdoor barbecue this week?”

Li Jian and Jiang An exchanged a glance and understood each other’s thoughts in their eyes.

Li Jian asked: ”Is there a purchase record at the shop?”

Mr. Fu shook his head: ”No!”

”The owner said they mainly sell supermarket items and only occasionally sell charcoal, so there are no detailed sales records.”

”However, the owner remembers clearly that Liu Tie bought two boxes at that time.”

Li Jian asked: ”Remembers so clearly?”

Mr. Fu nodded, ”Because typically people buy one box for outdoor barbecue.”

”But, Liu Tie wanted to buy two boxes, saying there were many people at the barbecue and a high charcoal usage.”

”At the time, the store only had one box, so they temporarily transferred another box from a colleague.”

”Thus, when I showed the owner Liu Tie’s photo, they immediately recognized him.”

Suddenly, Jiang An asked: ”How many pounds per box?”

Mr. Fu answered: ”The owner said one box is 10 pounds.”

”Does one barbecue need two boxes of charcoal?”

Jiang An and Li Jian simultaneously realized the problem at hand.

Noticing the change in their expressions, Mr. Fu suddenly realized something.

He asked: ”Do you mean Liu Tie is a suspect?”

”Is this charcoal his tool for the crime?”

In an instant, the once noisy conference office fell silent.
