The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 343: Chapter 212: Where Can We Find Evidence?

”It’s too late,” Li Jian shook his head, ”there are still two suspects in the interrogation room.”

”If it exceeds 24 hours, we’ll have to release them.”

”We have to race against time now.”

Wan nodded, then released the brake, and the vehicle slowly drove into the campus of Kawasaki Institute of Technology.

Immediately, the four of them went straight to Liang Yan’s counselor’s office.

”Hello, Mr. Yang. I’m Li Jian, captain of the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team.”

”I’ve come here with a few questions we need to understand from you.”

As he spoke, Li Jian showed his credentials and politely said.

Upon hearing that four policemen had arrived, a trace of surprise flashed across Mr. Yang’s face, and he unconsciously recalled what he had done recently.

Then, she nodded and said, ”No problem, what do you need to know?”

”Mr. Yang, do you remember Liang Yan, a graduate from two years ago?” Li Jian asked straightforwardly.

”Yes! Yes! That student excelled in both academics and character, and she was beautiful.”

Mr. Yang nodded, then she asked in confusion, ”Why are you suddenly asking about her?”

”Did she do anything illegal?”

Li Jian shook his head: ”Not exactly.”

Wang glanced at the counselor in front of him and interjected: ”Mr. Yang, the students you trained are all excellent and wouldn’t break the law!”

Mr. Yang smiled, relieved: ”I thought so, that girl was naturally charming and sweet-tongued, loved by everyone everywhere.”

Li Jian licked his lips, hesitated, and said: ”Mr. Yang, actually... Liang Yan has passed away.”

Instantly, Mr. Yang stepped back a few steps and sat down in the chair: ”What? She’s dead?”

”It can’t be! She’s still so young, just graduated two years ago.”

Soon, the office fell into silence.

After a brief pause, Li Jian continued: ”Mr. Yang, please accept our condolences.”

”None of us wanted to see this fact, but it has indeed happened.”

Mr. Yang eagerly asked: ”How did she die?”

”How could a healthy person suddenly die?”

”Preliminary suspicion is carbon monoxide poisoning, and we suspect it might be a murder case,” Li Jian said solemnly.

Upon hearing the word ”murder,” a trace of terror flashed in Mr. Yang’s eyes, and she stood there in disbelief.

Two minutes later, she stood up, her eyes a bit moist.

”It shouldn’t... it really shouldn’t have,” Mr. Yang murmured.

”Actually, back then, I suggested she stay at the school as a counselor, but she didn’t take our advice. She was an exceptional student,” Mr. Yang said softly.

Li Jian sighed: ”Indeed, she was a very talented person.”

”Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to work at the power exploration company, which is a very good unit in Jiangcheng.”

After a slight pause, Mr. Yang asked: ”Now that you’ve come here, is there anything you need my assistance with?”

”If I can help solve the case, I’m willing to do everything I can to provide all the information I know, to help catch the killer as soon as possible.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian nodded firmly: ”Rest assured, we will catch the killer as soon as possible.”

Then, Li Jian asked: ”Since Liang Yan was very pretty and popular at school, there should have been quite a few suitors, right?”

Mr. Yang nodded: ”As far as I know, there should have been many.”

”However, she only dated two boyfriends during her university years.”

”Oh? Where are these two boyfriends now?” Li Jian pursued.

”One of these boyfriends was her classmate and moved to the provincial capital after graduation; the other was a student from the neighboring Foreign Language Institute and has gone abroad to study,” Mr. Yang replied.

Originally, Li Jian hoped to discover some clues.

But upon hearing this, he was a bit disappointed.

Then he asked: ”Mr. Yang, do you know Liu Tie?”

Hearing the name ”Liu Tie,” Mr. Yang lowered her head to think for a while.

Two minutes later, he raised his head, his eyes widening: ”I remember now! This student should also be from our school.”

”At that time, during freshman year, Liu Tie set up heart-shaped candles behind the dorms, placing a bouquet of roses in the middle, to confess to Liang Yan, hoping she would become his girlfriend.”

”This incident spread widely across campus, so I have some impression of it.”

Upon receiving this news, the four of them immediately exchanged glances, the image of Liu Tie emerging in their minds.

Then, Li Jian continued to ask: ”Mr. Yang, did Liu Tie later have any further interactions with Liang Yan?”

Mr. Yang gently shook her head.

”No! At that time, during freshman year, Liang Yan was very troubled by this incident.”

”On one hand, the candlelit confession had a significant impact at school.”

”On the other hand, Liu Tie setting up candles for a confession at the entrance of Liang Yan’s dormitory was a first.”

”But in the end, Liang Yan did not respond to his request, nor did she accept his roses.”

Wan couldn’t help but interject: ”Truly a lovesick man.”

”Did he continue pursuing Liang Yan later?” Jiang An asked.

Mr. Yang replied, ”That, I’m not sure about.”

”As counselors, we generally don’t get too involved in students’ romantic lives.”

”We don’t encourage nor discourage dating among college students.”

Jiang An nodded: ”Mr. Yang, we certainly understand your work principles.”

”After Liu Tie’s confession failed, did you hear any other negative news?”

”There wasn’t any.”

”Later, during a casual conversation with Liang Yan, she told me Liu Tie had continued pursuing her, but she turned him down every time,” Mr. Yang replied.

Li Jian then asked: ”Mr. Yang, can I ask why Liu Tie was rejected?”

”I’ve heard that Liu Tie was born in the countryside, with a poor financial situation, while Liang Yan grew up in the city; this difference in background could have been the barrier between them,” Mr. Yang explained.

Upon hearing this, the four present began to ponder.

Jiang An thought to himself, given that Liu Tie had put so much effort into confessing during college but was unsuccessful, could this be his motive for murder?

Not just Jiang An, but Li Jian, Wan, and Zhang Yean also shared the same thought.

After a long pause, Mr. Li smiled and said: ”Thank you for your cooperation, sorry to take up your time.”

Mr. Yang stood up, tears in his eyes, and said: ”Officers, please find the murderer of Liang Yan.”

Mr. Li nodded firmly: ”Rest assured, this is the duty of our criminal police.”

Five minutes later, the four left the counselor’s office and got into the police car.

Wan, holding the steering wheel, turned his head and asked: ”Mr. Li, where should we head next?”

Li Jian thought for a moment and said: ”For now, although the suspect isn’t clear, at least we know Liu Tie’s suspicion is increasing.”

After speaking, he turned to look at Jiang An.

Jiang An was gazing out the window, lost in thought.

”Jiang An, what do you think?” Li Jian asked.

Suddenly, Jiang An’s thoughts were pulled back, he turned to look at Li Jian: ”Captain, for now, I think Liu Tie’s suspicion is still very high.”

”After all, setting up heart-shaped candles on the ground for a confession takes a lot of courage.”

”Moreover, this incident created quite a stir throughout the school, it must have had a significant impact on him psychologically.

After speaking, the other three in the car nodded.

Wan, somewhat angry, said: ”Exactly!”

”If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have the face to go out and face people the next day.”

Jiang An, with a serious expression, said in a low voice: ”But even if we know he has a motive, how exactly can we find evidence of his crime?”

Inst.antly, silence filled the car.
