The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 341: Chapter 211: Who Are Her Suitors? (3)

”Some people also use it for cooking, saying that food cooked with charcoal tastes better.”

”Do you have sales records for charcoal here?” Mr. Fu asked.

The woman smiled, showing a hint of helplessness on her face, and said, ”I’m sorry, we run a small business. People come and go, and there are so many customers, it’s really challenging to keep records. It’s all cash and carry.”

Mr. Fu took out his phone, pulled up photos of Liu Tie and Li Yong, and handed it to the woman, ”Have any young people bought charcoal from you recently?”

The woman took the phone, squinted her eyes, carefully looked at the pictures, and nodded, ”Well, I vaguely remember these two people.”

”This man wearing glasses came to buy charcoal a week ago.”

”Back then, he walked in and immediately asked if there was any charcoal, saying he and his friends planned to go barbecuing outdoors on the weekend and worried about not having enough time to prepare.”

”How much did he buy?”

The woman patted her head, trying hard to recall the scene, and said, ”I remember he wanted to buy two boxes of charcoal, but we only had one box in the store.”

”He said he wanted to prepare more, fearing it wouldn’t be enough, so I got another box from the shop next door for him.”

”Two boxes of charcoal? Why did he need to buy so much?” Mr. Fu asked.

The woman smiled and explained, ”This is normal. With more people barbecuing outdoors, it could be three or four boxes.”

Mr. Fu nodded, suddenly recalling the clue mentioned in the meeting by Li Jian — the deceased had originally planned to barbecue out of town with friends, scheduled for this Saturday.

The officer beside him whispered, ”Mr. Fu, it seems that the purchase of charcoal might not be directly related to the case, at least their purpose is clear.”

Mr. Fu pondered for a moment, slightly furrowing his brows, and nodded, ”Thank you, we’ll investigate elsewhere.”

Meanwhile.

In Interrogation Room 2, Li Jian and Jiang An began questioning Li Yong.

Li Yong had a well-built physique, the muscle lines on his arms clearly visible, appearing to be someone who loved sports.

At this moment, he sat in the interrogation chair, leaning slightly back, arms crossed over his chest, trying to appear calm, but his eyes betrayed a hint of nervousness.

Li Jian began to ask, ”What is your name? Where do you live? What is your occupation?”

The man sat up straight, answered loudly, ”My name is Li Yong, I work at the power company as an ordinary technician.”

”Talk about your relationship with the deceased, Liang Yan,” Li Jian continued.

Li Yong’s face showed a hint of reminiscence, he answered, ”We are all friends. We often hang out together, play ball, sing, and have a good relationship.”

”Please recall the scene when you took the two deceased home that night. Was anyone following you?”

Li Yong nodded, earnestly saying, ”I believe not.”

”At that time, the four of us were walking and talking, chatting about work and life.”

”After sending them home, Liu Tie and I used the restroom and then left, not noticing anyone suspicious along the way.”

”When you left, did you notice the key on the living room shoe cabinet?”

Li Yong slightly furrowed his brows, trying to recall, he said, ”That I didn’t notice.”

”I remember it was Liang Yan who opened the door because Yang Guang fumbled for the key for quite a while without finding it.”

”We even joked at Yang Guang if he was too drunk to find his keys.”

”At that time, he laughed awkwardly and said maybe he placed it in the wrong spot.”

Hearing this, Li Jian suddenly became alarmed, a glint of excitement in his eyes.

He pressed on, ”Did Yang Guang lose his key?”

Li Yong shook his head, answered, ”I didn’t notice that.”

”I only remember he couldn’t find the key, finally, Liang Yan opened the door.”

Li Jian immediately realized this detail could be crucial, possibly an important clue to solving the case.

He turned to glance at Jiang An, who also nodded, their eyes communicating the significance of this clue.

Jiang An then asked, ”When you entered the house, did you notice the state of the curtains?”

Li Yong pondered for a moment, then answered, ”I remember the curtains were open.”

”When we first went in, it was pitch dark inside, and I even tripped over a chair.”

”But moonlight shone on the balcony, and the scenery looked quite beautiful, so I specifically went to the balcony to enjoy the night view.”

”Was there any particular smell in the room?” Jiang An asked.

Li Yong shook his head decisively, answering, ”No, there wasn’t.”

Jiang An continued to press, ”Aside from being a couple, did Liang Yan and Yang Guang have ambiguous relationships or emotional disputes with others?”

Hearing this, Li Yong furrowed his brows, speaking with some hesitance, ”I don’t think so.”

”But Liang Yan is very pretty, and many people at our power company were probably pursuing her.”

”Oh?” Jiang An’s eyes brightened, as if discovering new territory, ”Who are they?”
