The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 331: Chapter 207: Discoveries from the Second Investigation

Before long, Jiang An led the entire team, equipped with professional investigation tools, into the room once more.

Standing at the entrance of the living room, Li Jian asked, ”Brother Jiang An, in your opinion, where should we focus our investigation this time?”

Jiang An raised his head, his gaze slowly scanned the surroundings, finally fixing on the floor before him.

”If carbon monoxide didn’t enter the room in its gaseous form, then it’s highly likely it existed in its original solid form. There might be a device that generates carbon monoxide inside the room.”

”Therefore, I think it’s necessary to start with trace evidence.”

Li Jian listened and did not speak, just lightly nodded his head.

Regarding Jiang An’s line of thinking, he found it somewhat reasonable.

However, the current investigation direction is based on the cause of death being carbon monoxide poisoning.

If the cause of death is alcohol poisoning, then all the current efforts may be in vain.

Moreover, if someone really did bring a carbon monoxide device into the room, then this case is obviously not a simple accidental death but a malicious murder, with the perpetrator fleeing the scene after committing the crime.

Thinking of this, Li Jian turned to look at Jiang An.

Despite his full confidence in Jiang An’s investigative abilities, he was reluctant to face the possibility of this being a murder case.

After all, this would make subsequent case handling and investigation work extremely difficult.

Earlier, the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau had officially communicated with the family, basically identifying this as an accidental death.

If it suddenly turns into a murder case, it will inevitably involve many people.

However, at this moment, Mr. Li was not eager to jump to conclusions, instead leaving the leadership role to Jiang An.

Jiang An turned around and took the high-intensity flashlight from Zhang Yean, turned on the switch, letting the beam remain parallel to the floor.

In an instant, the dust footprints on the ground became clearly visible, providing them with an excellent view for observation.

At this moment, Wan squatted down and said quietly, ”Senior, Mr. Li just mentioned that the footprints on the scene no longer hold much value.”

”Many people have entered the scene, leaving behind a jumble of footprints, making it extremely difficult to distinguish them, and there’s no need to waste energy on it.”

Jiang An nodded, thought for a moment, and said, ”The floor here is made of tiles, and these two young people are quite clean, keeping the floor relatively tidy.”

”If someone entered this room, they would definitely leave footprints, only some footprints are not easily noticed.”

Wan curled his lip and said, ”Even if we find footprints of a third person, there’s no footprint comparison database, we can’t make a comparison at all.”

Jiang An ignored Wan’s doubts and continued to advance, holding the flashlight.

In his opinion, although footprints are difficult to directly identify suspects, they can at least help in eliminating suspects.

If the footprints left at the Crime Scene are of size 40 shoes, and the suspicious suspect caught wears size 42, then under normal circumstances, this suspect can initially be eliminated.

Of course, excluding those special cases where someone deliberately wears a size larger to commit a crime.

Inside, all the curtains were drawn tight, and the originally bright room suddenly turned dark.

The beam from Jiang An’s flashlight moved slowly across the floor.

Seeing Jiang An’s actions, Li Jian, Wan, and Zhang Yean also picked up flashlights and began carefully searching the floor.

As Jiang An searched, he turned his head and said, ”Sis, please photograph the different types of footprints on the floor, so we can later compare them with those of the people who entered the scene.”

Zhang Yuan nodded and promptly raised the camera, capturing a series of photos with a ”click, click, click” sound.

Suddenly, Jiang An halted at the bedroom entrance.

He stood there, observing the floor for a long time, motionless.

Li Jian unwittingly noticed Jiang An’s unusual behavior.

He hurriedly walked over and asked, ”What’s wrong? Have you found something important?”

Jiang An looked at him, eyes firm, and nodded slightly.

”Yes.”

As he spoke, he gestured towards the floor at the scene.

Li Jian looked puzzled, leaned closer to the floor, and began observing carefully.

Two minutes passed, and he still didn’t notice anything unusual.

He asked anxiously, ”Is there anything other than tiles and dust on the floor?”

Jiang An bent down, raised his right index finger, and slowly drew a circle on the floor.

”What do you mean?”

Jiang An explained, ”Look, there’s a circular imprint on the floor here, and it’s remarkably neat.”

”Circular imprint?”

”Why didn’t I see it just now?”

”Mr. Li, please adjust the angle of your flashlight, making the beam parallel to the floor; it’ll be much clearer this way.”

Li Jian followed Jiang An’s advice and adjusted the direction of the flashlight.

In an instant, he cried out, ”Oh my, there really is a circular imprint; looks like the bottom of a basin.”

At this moment, Zhang Yean and Wan rushed over excitedly.

Following the direction of Mr. Li’s flashlight, the two of them also clearly saw the imprint.

”What does this imprint indicate?” Wan asked, full of doubt.

Suddenly, Zhang Yean turned and said, ”Do you mean that this might be the place where burning occurred?”

Jiang An nodded and said, ”The circular trace is at the entrance of the bedroom; appearing in this location is truly unusual.”

Wan asked, ”Could it be an imprint left by a basin used in the daily life of the deceased?”
