Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

After many years, He Yue and Ning Chenguang met again.

In all these years, He Yue had imagined countless reunion scenarios, but never this one.

She had just been rescued from the ruins of an earthquake, and less than two hours later, she stood in the home of the military district’s chief.

During those two hours on the helicopter, she didn’t even have time to change clothes or wash up, appearing disheveled in front of Ning Chenguang.

She stood downstairs, looking up towards him, as her older brother Ning Chenguang slowly walked down the stairs.

Time had flown, and he had grown into a handsome young man, with a face as striking as a painting and a tall, straight figure. He wore a green army T-shirt on top and military pants, exuding an air of confidence with every move.

Although he had the exact same face as Ning Chenyang,

the feeling he gave was completely different.

He possessed a unique charm, and his gaze towards her was different from Ning Chenyang’s. It wasn’t just pity and sympathy.

The look in his eyes like a starry sky revealed an emotion of tenderness!

Yes, tenderness!

He Yueyue told herself so!

”Yue... Yueyue...?” Ning Chenguang stood in front of He Yue, not daring to believe that this seemingly pitiful girl was actually He Yueyue.

Her gaze was not as cunning and lively as he remembered; at this moment, it was filled with sadness and heartbreak.

”Brother! I’m Yueyue!” He Yue spoke, her voice dry and hoarse.

She desperately wanted to throw herself into Ning Chenguang’s arms and cry, to tell him about the nightmare she had endured, to recount how terrified she had been, trapped under the rubble and stones.

She feared not seeing tomorrow’s sun and even more so, never seeing the brother who used to run joyfully with her in the fields.

But, all her tears had been shed, her steps felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, even though she was so close to him, she couldn’t move a single step.

”Yueyue, we know about what happened to you! From now on, this will be your home! Welcome to your new home!” Ning Chenguang said, watching her sorrowfully.

He Yue nodded, two streams of tears slid down her cheeks.

”Alright, alright. Yueyue’s eyes are swollen from crying; she shouldn’t cry anymore.” In this reunion, everyone felt as if a heavy stone pressed on their hearts. If anyone succumbed to these emotions, allowing them to spread uncontrollably, it would ultimately be Yueyue who suffered the most.

”Yes, exactly. An Hao, please take He Yue to bathe and change clothes!” Qin Jian said.

”Alright. Yueyue, let’s go.”

He Yueyue nodded, turned to look at Ning Chenguang, and saw him wave to her. Only then did she turn around and follow An Hao to freshen up.

An hour later, He Yue emerged from the bathroom.

When she appeared again in front of Ning Chenguang, it was as if she had transformed into someone else!

He looked at He Yue in slight surprise; it was said that a young girl’s appearance could change significantly over time, and this was certainly true. No matter how he looked at her, he couldn’t relate her current appearance to her childhood self.

The round chubby cheeks of her childhood had become a classic oval face, with a smooth forehead and full facial contours, and beneath her beautiful arched eyebrows were eyes clear as autumn waters.

This face had changed a lot, but the one constant was the delicate cherry-colored lips below her high nose, a beautiful rose hue that remained vivid in Ning Chenguang’s memories.
