Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”You can come over often in the future! Yueyue can also come to stay in Nancheng during the holidays, and visit Guangguang!” An Hao added.

”Alright! Alright!” He Fusheng kept nodding.

”Well then, shall we go inside and bid farewell to Xiuzhu and He Mu?” Since we’re here to say goodbye, naturally everyone needs to be included.

After all, taking care of Ning Chenguang’s family was wholehearted.

”Absolutely! Dinner is ready at home, you must have this meal before you leave!” Seeing Qin Jian opening his mouth to refuse, he quickly said, ”This time you must listen to me! If you still consider me your big brother, you must stay for dinner!”

”Well... okay then. I’ll listen to big brother!” Qin Jian agreed.

The atmosphere around the dining table was heavy, everyone knew Ning Chenguang was leaving, and no one could eat.

”Although we have always been prepared mentally, hearing it suddenly still makes us feel sad.” Liang Xiuzhu lowered her head and wiped her tears, then continued, ”As a mother myself, I especially understand An Hao’s feelings. You’ve actually endured quite a lot this past year, right? We all understand, come! Let’s happily finish this meal, and you can leave with your child! We... we...”

Unable to continue talking, she simply lifted her glass and took a gulp of wine: ”No more words, this is a good thing! We should be happy, everyone raise your glasses, let’s have a toast!”

”Brother He, sister-in-law! You are our benefactors, your kindness is as high as a mountain, deep as the sea! We will remember it all our lives. If you need any help in the future, just ask! As long as we are able and it doesn’t go against military principles, we will surely help!” An Hao, overcome with emotion, raised her glass and said excitedly.

”Great! With your words, I’m relieved! Come, cheers!”

The meal would eventually end, and after brief joy, the topic of departure loomed again.

The adults could control their emotions, but He Mu, being a teenager, though sad at heart, still held back tears and smiled to bid farewell to Ning Chenguang.

”Guangguang! Take good care! When I grow up, I’ll join the military! Maybe then I’ll have a chance to go to Nancheng!”

”Alright! I’ll wait for you, Brother He Mu!”

”Uncle, auntie! Yueyue, you take care too, I’m leaving! I will miss you!” Ning Chenguang held back tears and waved goodbye to them, saying farewell to the He Family Manor where he had lived for a year.

”Alright, alright. You leave quickly, it’s getting late! If you delay, you’ll have to leave in the dark!” He Fusheng said.

”Then goodbye!”

Qin Jian asked the guard to start the car, and they turned the vehicle around to leave.

Suddenly, He Yue burst into tears: ”I don’t want Brother to leave! I don’t want Brother to leave! Waaa... No!”

”Yueyue, be good. Brother has to go! Yueyue, don’t fuss!” Liang Xiuzhu hugged her daughter tightly, comforting her with a heartache.

Ning Chenguang was crying in the car. Suddenly, he saw the doll he had bought for Yueyue, and he quickly leaned out the window to hand it to her: ”A gift for you! Let the doll accompany you instead of Brother!”

The guard pressed the pedal, and the car slowly started to leave. If they didn’t go, this farewell would likely last all afternoon.

Ning Chenguang leaned against the car window, looking far at Yueyue still crying, her sorrowful cries lingered in his ears: ”Brother, don’t go! Brother, I miss you!”

Ning Chenguang buried his head in An Hao’s arms, holding An Hao as he cried.

Goodbye Yueyue! Goodbye He Family Manor!
