Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Don’t be afraid!” Ning Chenyang reached out his big hand and tightly held He Yue’s hand, saying, ”Don’t be scared, it’s just an aftershock! The magnitude isn’t high, it won’t be as strong as the previous one.”

He Yue nodded, her big, watery black eyes looking at Ning Chenyang, as she slowly spoke, ”Little Brother, I thought I would never see you again.”

”How could that be?” Ning Chenyang looked at He Yueyue with a smile, ”Don’t think too much now, you’ll have plenty of days to see Little Brother in the future.”

”Little Brother...” He Yue stopped walking, looked at Ning Chenyang’s face that she had been longing for, and couldn’t help but reach out to touch him, ”You’ve gotten thinner and much darker!”

The only thing that hadn’t changed was his appearance. Although his features had matured, they were still the same as when he was a child.

If it wasn’t for the earthquake, perhaps they wouldn’t have seen each other for many years.

But now that they’ve met, they’ll soon be separated again.

Because Little Brother joined the army, and being a soldier means they’ll definitely have more separations than gatherings in the future.

Ning Chenyang thought He Yue had just lost her parents and was grieving, which is why she mistook him for Ning Chenguang, so he remained silent.

He was well aware of her feelings toward Ning Chenguang.

He let her be, allowing her to find a shred of solace amidst the pain. But seeing her affectionate gaze now, he felt he couldn’t continue the deception.

So he quickly said, ”Yueyue, you’ve got the wrong person! I’m not your Little Brother! I’m your Big Brother!”

The two brothers were identical twins, their appearances were exactly the same, like they were stamped from the same mold. After so many years without seeing He Yue, it wasn’t surprising that she mistook him.

”You’re Brother Chenyang?”

”Yes. I didn’t mean to deceive you...”

He Yueyue realized that the person she touched was not Ning Chenguang, and her face turned red instantly, as if burned, she quickly withdrew her hand, ”Sorry, sorry Brother Chenyang!”

Ning Chenyang saw her blushing with embarrassment, and his mouth couldn’t help but curl into a smile, ”Yueyue is just as cute as when she was little. Come on, my dad is still waiting to see you.”

A few minutes later.

In the tent of the command center, Qin Jian finally met He Yue.

He saw He Yue covered in dirt, clothes tattered, looking disheveled and almost didn’t recognize her.

It was only when He Yue saw him and called out, ”Uncle Qin!” that he confirmed the girl before him was indeed He Yue.

”Child, you’ve suffered!” Qin Jian saw her in this tragic state, and thinking of such good people like Brother He and his sister-in-law perishing in the earthquake, his heart twisted painfully.

His nose tingled, and his eyes reddened.

”Uncle Qin...” When He Yue saw him tear up, the tears she had just held back started flooding again.

”Good child, don’t cry! Uncle knows what you’ve been through!” Qin Jian stepped forward gently, holding He Yue in his arms, patting her back, ”Everything is over now! Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid! Although your parents have left you, you’re not alone, Yueyue I’m here along with Aunt An Hao and Brother Chenguang caring for you! This time, come with me, I’ll take you to the military district, and you can live with me from now on!”

He Yue thought for a moment and said, ”Thank you, Uncle Qin. I just thought about it, I can’t go to the military district and trouble you. I still have my brother, and when this disaster is over, I’ll find him and live with him!”
