Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Seeing Yan Huan cry, An Hao instead laughed.

”This just proves that all your waiting has been worth it! Ji Chuan is a good man worth entrusting your life to!” An Hao felt happy for her.

”Yes, yes. I’m content,” Yan Huan said, wiping her tears.

”Hey, don’t rub your eyes. I just finished doing your eye makeup.” Lin Qiushu had only gone to find a quiet place to feed her baby, but when she came back, she saw Yan Huan crying.

”Why cry on such a joyful day? Stop crying! You should be happy, even happier than this!” Feng Yuzhi took the opportunity between being busy to come and see Yan Huan, and seeing her crying miserably, couldn’t help but chide her a bit.

”These are tears of happiness. They’re also tears for not wanting to leave you,” Yan Huan explained, choking up.

”You don’t need to be reluctant to leave me. I’m eager to see you get married soon, which will finally settle a matter close to my heart. You’ve found your happy home!” Feng Yuzhi said happily.

”What kind of mother are you? People are usually happy yet reluctant to see their daughter marry, but you’re eager to send your daughter out,” Yan Huan said resentfully.

”You heartless girl.” Feng Yuzhi poked her forehead, her eyes gradually reddening, ”Do you think your mother’s heart is made of stone? I’m happy for you marrying, happy that you’ve finally found someone to spend the rest of your life with. But, my heart is uneasy too. Raising you for thirty years, and now you’ve flown away like a little bird. From now on, you’ll belong to someone else, I...”

”Mom, don’t cry! Yan Huan knows that well, she’s just behaving like a child. Please, don’t take it to heart!” Lin Qiushu quickly comforted her mother-in-law upon seeing her emotional state.

”I’ve been holding back tears since this morning. Though I’ve been hoping for her to marry, it still feels uncomfortable in my heart... This stubborn girl really knows how to tug at my heartstrings!”

Feng Yuzhi was still speaking when a commotion came from downstairs. Tan Xiaomei ran upstairs, panting, and said loudly, ”Hurry and get ready, the bridal party is here!”

”You all get ready, I’ll go downstairs to greet them.” Feng Yuzhi wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and hurried down the stairs.

Tan Xiaomei had invited the female soldiers from the publicity department, there were as many as seven or eight of them, and they all stood neatly in Yan Huan’s already cramped room, ready to block the door.

”Comrades, when the groom arrives, we must all stand firm! We can’t let him take Sister Yan Huan away so easily!”

”Understood!”

”Unless the red envelopes are ample, we can’t open the door! We must enliven the atmosphere! Sister Yan is getting married just this once, we must ensure she leaves joyfully and lively!”

”Yes!”

While the upstairs was bustling with excitement, downstairs, Ji Chuan had already served tea to the parents-in-law.

An Hao came downstairs to check on things and happened to see this scene.

Ji Chuan, holding the teacup, solemnly said to his in-laws, ”Thank you for raising Yan Huan for thirty years and making her happy all those years. From now on, I will take care of her! I will protect her with my life, to ensure her happiness! Marrying her is the greatest honor and happiness of my life!”

These heartfelt words moved everyone present, with Yan Luquan and Feng Yuzhi especially shedding tears of joy.

”I believe you! Son, I believe you! We wish you happiness!” The elderly couple said, excitedly taking the teacup.
