Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Jiang Wanwan lowered her head without saying a word.

The three of them stood awkwardly for a long time.

”What do you mean, Jiang Wanwan?” He Yue saw her with her head down, looking like she refused to talk, and was very angry. ”As soon as I arrived, you stopped talking, didn’t you?”

”No! I didn’t mean that.” Jiang Wanwan waved her hands repeatedly. ”I’m fine now. I’ll go back first.”

”Hey, Wanwan, don’t leave!” Ning Chenguang quickly called out to her, but saw her walking home without turning her head.

”She really has a temper.” He Yue couldn’t stand someone like her, who appeared soft on the outside but was quite stubborn inside.

”Yueyue, you go home first. I’ll go find her.” Ning Chenguang knew something must be wrong with Jiang Wanwan. If he didn’t help, she might end up in that old man’s hands again.

He’s a bad person!

He couldn’t let Jiang Wanwan be bullied by a bad person again.

Ning Chenguang left He Yue and went to chase after Jiang Wanwan.

He Yue chased for a few steps, failed to catch up, and even fell, quickly getting up and stomping her feet in frustration.

Ning Chenguang caught up with Jiang Wanwan and quickly called out to her: ”Do you have something you need me to help with? What do you need to buy this time?”

”No, it’s not that.” Jiang Wanwan saw Ning Chenguang’s concerned eyes, her nose tingled, and tears fell. ”He wants me to help in his shop... I’m scared!”

”Don’t go!” Ning Chenguang decisively told her to refuse. ”If you go, it’s like entering the lion’s den.”

”I know...” Jiang Wanwan cried even harder. ”I have no choice. He came to my house and talked to my grandmother, asking me to help. If I don’t go, he said he has ways to deal with me. He forbids me from telling anyone, or he’ll kill me...”

”That scoundrel!” Ning Chenguang clenched his fists tightly, seething with anger.

”Help me... Everyone in the village says you’re a little prodigy. You must have an idea, right?” Jiang Wanwan said, full of hope.

”When will your parents be back?” Ning Chenguang felt this couldn’t be delayed any longer, so he asked.

”I don’t know.” Jiang Wanwan shook her head, tears flowing. ”Even if they come back, I don’t want them to know about this.”

Though she wasn’t very old, she still understood some things.

The little boys in the village, even at five or six years old, could run around naked, but the little girls couldn’t.

All the families said that as girls got older, they couldn’t go bare-bottomed anymore.

It’s a very shameful thing! To get older and still be like that, it’s shameless!

Whoever sees will talk about it.

And she had long been stripped naked by Grandpa Shi. If people knew, they would definitely scold her.

”If you don’t tell your parents, will you keep being controlled by this old scoundrel?” Ning Chenguang asked angrily.

”I don’t know... It’s getting dark soon...” Jiang Wanwan was about to cry from anxiety.

”Don’t worry, I’ll go with you.” At worst, he’d just stick around there and see what that old scoundrel could do.

”Thank you! Thank you!” Jiang Wanwan smiled through her tears.

The shopkeeper was waiting for Jiang Wanwan to arrive. Having not seen her for several days, he was feeling quite restless inside.

He had a wife and children.

Life was quite decent for him.

But strangely, he’d long lost interest in his wife at home.
