Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”It’s okay. Really, it’s okay.” Jiang Wanwan pleaded with Ning Chenguang, ”He said if I dared to tell anyone, he’d make me scared and have nightmares all my life! I’m scared!”

”But if the adults don’t know, how long will you endure it? What if he keeps bullying you? Wanwan, did your mom ever tell you that a kind person is often bullied, and a good horse is often ridden? If you don’t fight back when you’re hit, you’ll always be bullied.” Ning Chenguang was referring to his own situation and that of Wang Xiaohu.

”No, no, no! I can’t tell anyone. I’ll just wait until Mom and Dad come back, then they’ll take me to the city this time!” Jiang Wanwan spoke with anticipation.

She felt that as long as her parents returned, she could leave this place and the nightmares behind.

”Alright... but you mustn’t go to that small shop again. If you need anything, I’ll help you buy it,” Ning Chenguang said to Jiang Wanwan.

Even though he was also scared.

However, he had the Justice Squad.

He also had Brother He Mu!

”Then... will you get tired of me?” Jiang Wanwan mumbled softly. In her eyes, Ning Chenguang was a city kid, and she was just a village girl. She was afraid Ning Chenguang would look down on her.

Moreover, the kids in her village all despised her, saying she was poor and timid like a rabbit.

”No, I won’t. As long as you come to me, I’ll always have time for you.” Ning Chenguang said firmly.

”Thank you.” Jiang Wanwan’s voice was as soft as a whisper, ”I need to go back now. If Grandpa and Grandma can’t find me, they’ll worry.”

”Goodbye, Jiang Wanwan.” Ning Chenguang said.

”Goodbye.”

Jiang Wanwan ran off like a startled little rabbit. Watching her back, Ning Chenguang sighed deeply. Although he couldn’t quite understand what exactly the shop owner had done to Jiang Wanwan, he knew she was in pain.

Mom said that some bad people wear masks to deceive children, forcing them to do things they don’t like or want to do.

He felt that the shop owner was such a bad person.

He really wanted to tell everyone that the shop owner bullied Jiang Wanwan, but Wanwan cried and stopped him from saying it.

Ning Chenguang felt confused and frustrated, unsure of what to do next.

His mind was in turmoil.

Should he really tell Mom?

As Ning Chenguang was struggling with this, he suddenly heard someone sobbing. He looked around and saw a figure standing in the shadows; she looked like Yueyue.

”Yueyue?” he called out.

”Big brother?” He Yue came out of the darkness, sniffling, and said, ”Do you not like Yueyue anymore?”

”Why do you say that?” Ning Chenguang walked over quickly, gently patting Yueyue’s back.

”You are so nice to Jiang Wanwan...” Yueyue cried even more aggrieved.

Ning Chenguang smiled helplessly, ”I’m nice to Jiang Wanwan, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like Yueyue. In my heart, Yueyue is the best little sister; no one is cuter than Yueyue!”

”Really?” He Yue didn’t believe him.

”Of course! When have I ever lied?”

”That’s true.” He Yue blinked and smiled, ”I believe you, big brother. Let’s go home.”

”Let’s go!”

”But I’m tired, I don’t want to walk!” He Yue pouted at Ning Chenguang.

”I’ll carry you.”

”But can you manage?”

Ning Chenguang patted his shoulder, ”Of course, I’m strong! I’m a little warrior trained by Dad!”
