Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2238: Chapter 2232: Frantic Heartbeats

An Hao was busy in the operating room, her eyes focused intently on Hua Jin, whose long, elegant fingers dexterously wielded the scalpel during the surgery.

”Done! Close up the chest cavity!” Hua Jin turned his head, and a nurse quickly came up to wipe his sweat.

He noticed that An Hao hadn’t moved and looked up at her: ”

Doctor An?”

An Hao suddenly came back to her senses, glanced at Hua Jin, and her heart started to race.

At that moment, she felt completely flustered.

The feeling was subtle, indescribable, and difficult to comprehend.

”Are you okay?” Hua Jin asked her.

”I’m fine.” An Hao shook her head and began to suture the wound.

The operation went exceptionally smoothly, shortening the expected time by one-third.

After coming out of the operating room, Hua Jin went straight back to his office.

The phone rang; it was Hou Zicheng calling: ”The job was successfully done.”

”That’s good. But we can’t let our guard down.” Hua Jin lit a cigarette, took a couple of puffs, and asked, ”How did Hei Mei manage to get the child out of the military district compound?”

”She gave sleeping pills to half of the kids at the school. During the chaos, she managed to get the child out.” Hou Zicheng said.

”What? Causing such a big commotion!” This was unexpected for Hua Jin, ”If they try to escape afterward, it could be troublesome. I’m afraid there will soon be a citywide alert, and if that’s the case, they won’t get far.”

”Hei Mei didn’t expect it either.” Hou Zicheng said, ”She wanted to take the child from the kindergarten but didn’t anticipate that Qin Jian would be suspicious. She couldn’t find a legitimate reason to take the child out alone. She had to succeed amid the chaos.”

”So how are they now? Have they escaped Nancheng?” Hua Jin slowly exhaled the smoke and asked.

”Not yet! They’ve said they’ve run into some trouble! It seems like they’re being tailed!” Hou Zicheng sighed, ”Maybe they’re handling it. You don’t need to worry!”

”Alright then. Since you arranged it, there shouldn’t be any problems. I trust you!” Hua Jin sighed.

”It also depends on their luck. I feel that the arrangements were foolproof. But if they’re unlucky... the consequences are unthinkable.” Hou Zicheng said frankly, ”Over the years, I’ve lost many subordinates, but I’ve been relatively safe. It can only be said that I’ve been a bit luckier. But today, I have a vague bad feeling...”

”I understand what you mean; no one has good luck all the time! Now, those two might be facing the entire Nancheng police force, or even possibly the military! If they can escape, it would be a major stroke of luck!”

Hua Jin said.

”What are you going to do? You need to evacuate. If they get caught, our connection with them will quickly be exposed!” Hou Zicheng said worriedly, ”I’m already at a standstill here! Self-preservation might be a problem, and I can’t help you...”

Moreover, at this time, he should not help Cang Lang.

After all, he is under surveillance by the National Security Bureau!

Anyone in contact with him will definitely not be spared!

By then, they will arrest first and question later, and they will certainly extract some information!

”I understand. Evacuate when you need to!” Hua Jin said.
