Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2208: Chapter 2203: IQ Test

”Really? Uncle, are you serious?” The kids were eager to try, but also afraid that the uncle might not keep his word.

”Of course, I won’t lie.” The man pointed at Yuan Yunong and said, ”Isn’t she your teacher? With your teacher here helping you with the quiz, are you still worried that I’d run off without delivering?”

All the kids looked up at Yuan Yunong.

”Yes!” Yuan Yunong smiled and said, ”With me here, you can relax! If any of you kids answer the questions correctly, I’ll have this uncle give you a prize, how about that?”

”Okay!” The kids clapped happily in approval.

”You must keep your word!” Yuan Yunong said, looking at the man.

”Of course! Come on, let’s start the quiz!” After the man finished, he took out the prepared questions, and suddenly all the kids swarmed forward.

Yuan Yunong nodded approvingly.

But she noticed that the Ning family’s twins, whom she most wanted to try the test, remained standing still.

The two little guys were exchanging glances, sometimes shaking their heads, other times nodding, making Yuan Yunong very puzzled.

”Chenyang, Chenguang! Why aren’t you two going to answer the questions?” Yuan Yunong crouched down and asked.

”I...” Ning Chenyang thought for a moment and then said, ”Teacher, my mom said, if you take a small advantage, you might suffer a big loss! There’s no such thing as a free lunch!”

”Right! There’s no free lunch in the world!” Ning Chenguang immediately added, ”How does answering the questions help the uncle? If we get the questions right, why would this uncle give us gifts?”

They really underestimated these two kids.

Their brains and mentality are not at all like what kids their age should have! If you say they’re not smart, nobody would believe you.

”Then shall we ask the uncle why he’s doing this?” Yuan Yunong decided to throw this difficult question at the professional intelligence testing man in front of them. ”Sir, I want to ask, why are you organizing this activity here? What’s in it for you?”

The man thought, in this day and age, even professional intelligence testing is this hard. Disguising myself isn’t enough, I even have to make up stories to fool people.

So the man said: ”It’s like this! My child’s IQ is very high, he’s a little genius! But, he is always very proud and thinks no kid can beat him! I’m doing this to teach him a lesson, to let him know there’s always someone better, so he won’t be too proud! I’m doing this so that he can be a bit more humble! Because only humility can lead to progress! Pride leads to backwardness!”

”Oh, I see!” The two kids’ competitive spirits were ignited, and they were immediately pumped up and eager to try.

Yuan Yunong breathed a sigh of relief.

”Come on, kids, gather round! Before we start with the questions, let’s all draw a picture on the paper with the uncle. The task is to draw a path in the maze to help the big bad wolf eat the little rabbit! Come, kids, give it a try!” The man briefly explained the game’s content to the children, then watched as they wrote and drew on the paper.

The kids were drawing all sorts of ways.

But no matter how they drew, the big bad wolf just couldn’t catch the little rabbit.
