Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2218: Chapter 2213: An Appointment Tonight

”Do you need me to explain it to you? You know my rules...”

Before Hua Jin could finish her conditions, An Hao quickly replied, ”I’ll treat you to dinner! Tonight, how about Nanguofeng? Or, if you prefer Western food, there’s a good restaurant that opened near Glory Road! We can go check it out.”

Since yesterday she and Qin Jian had already analyzed the relationship between Hua Jin and Yuan Yunong, finding a breakthrough with Hua Jin was also a strategy.

”Sure! I’ve grown tired of Western food after all these years abroad. I still find Chinese food more suited to my taste! Let’s go to Nanguofeng then!” Hua Jin said.

”Then it’s settled. I’ll wait for you after work and we’ll go to Nanguofeng for dinner!” An Hao replied cheerfully.

Hua Jin was somewhat entranced as he watched her flower-like smile. He wished he could agree with An Hao and go to Nanguofeng tonight. But he couldn’t; he needed to deal carefully with Yuan Yunong.

Otherwise, this fellow could really stir things up.

The mission was almost done, and if she continued her antics, they would be completely exposed, with unimaginable consequences.

”Dr. Hua?” An Hao noticed Hua Jin seemed a bit lost, calling him several times, ”Dr. Hua? What are you thinking about?”

”Oh! It’s nothing,” Hua Jin explained calmly regarding his previous behavior, ”I was just thinking about my schedule for the next few days. Tonight might not work! I’ve arranged to catch up with an old friend I haven’t seen in years. Tomorrow night then? How about tomorrow night?”

”Alright! I’ll leave the scheduling entirely up to you,” An Hao agreed with a smile.

Coming out of Hua Jin’s office, An Hao’s mind began to race. She felt like these spies were turning her into Sherlock Holmes.

Every day she lived in a state of paranoia.

Just now, smelling the cigarette smoke, her mind started to speculate.

She hardly ever saw Hua Jin smoke. It’s often said that doctors are somewhat germophobic. It’s not untrue; Hua Jin also had mild germophobia and rarely mingled with other doctors.

Especially when male doctors occasionally liked to relax with a cigarette at the window in the corridor after surgeries.

Hua Jin had never done that.

This trait was quite similar to Qin Jian.

She realized that Qin Jian only smoked when he was anxious, chain-smoking in a bid to numb his nerves with nicotine.

Hua Jin also didn’t smoke regularly; now that he had smoked, did it indicate his anxiety?

What was he anxious about?

When she asked him to dinner earlier, he seemed dazed, and just when she thought he’d readily agree, he refused.

He said he had plans tonight.

Judging by that, could it be that the person he’s meeting tonight is causing his anxiety?

An Hao felt she had to investigate thoroughly tonight.

..............

After work, An Hao intentionally lingered.

She informed Qin Jian, who opposed her taking risks.

Because of a previous incident, An Hao was knocked out by Hong Mei in a dead-end alley.

Luckily, she was fortunate last time!

This time, who knows what kind of person this Hua Jin is?

Although Qin Jian hadn’t seen him in person, he sensed Hua Jin wasn’t a simple character.

He couldn’t let his wife face all this alone!
