Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1994: Chapter 1987: Death Is a Release

Everyone else who wanted to visit was gently turned down by Qin Jian.

Only the closest family members and a few good friends were allowed to see her.

Besides being cared for by Zhang Yun, the two children, Ning Chenyang and Ning Chenguang, were often looked after by Gu Shuangshuang, Tian Niu, Yan Ye, and Lin Qiushu.

With An Hao fallen ill, they felt a deep sorrow, unsure of how they could help her.

They simply hoped to give the two children a little more love, wishing these little ones could lead happier days without their mom around.

Qin Jian maintained his routine, visiting An Hao every day unfailingly. During the day, he busied himself, often exhausting himself in training, clearing his mind of any thoughts.

The evenings were his and An Hao’s time.

He would wash her, comb her hair, massage her, hold her hand and recount the stories of each day and night, kissing her forehead, expressing his endless longing for her.

Two months later, An Shuchao was discharged and returned home.

During these two months, An Ping used his savings to buy a house in the city for his father.

They also settled in the city.

On the day they moved in, An Shuchao remarked, ”If your sister was awake, wouldn’t this be a housewarming celebration for our family?”

”Sister will wake up, Dad, don’t worry! She can’t bear to leave her husband and children,” An Ping said.

”I’m really worried...”

”Don’t worry, didn’t Qin Feng wake up? She’s living well with Brother Song Fei.”

”But, Li Junping hasn’t woken up, her head injury was like your sister’s...” An Shuchao expressed his concern.

”Dad, think positively, you have to believe that sister will wake up.” An Ping had faith in his sister.

”It’s all my fault... If only I could have held on a bit longer back then, maybe your sister...” An Shuchao blamed himself.

In this lifetime, he felt most sorry for his daughter.

Unexpectedly, he still had a chance in this life to help her, but at the critical moment, he failed to protect her completely.

”Dad, it’s not your fault! You know, I think you’re the greatest father in the world! Truly!” An Ping truly admired his father this time.

If it weren’t for a father’s love for his daughter, how could he endure so many stab wounds and still grit his teeth, using all his strength to protect her?

”Really?”

An Shuchao asked uncertainly.

”Really!”

The father and son were caught up in emotion when an unexpected knock on the door interrupted them.

An Ping went to open the door and saw Erzhuzi standing outside.

”What brings you here? Did you come to get a meal?” It was the day of their move, and customarily, a housewarming would be held.

But with An Hao not around, the family had no mood for it.

”No,” Erzhuzi replied, looking at An Ping with a complicated expression, ”Your second uncle has died! Under the big bridge in the city! Someone called the police, and they traced it to the company to deliver the news.”

An Ping stood stunned for a moment, then calmly said, ”I got it. Wait for me, come with me to collect the body.”

”Alright.”

An Ping returned inside, seeing tears in his father’s eyes.

”Dad, did you hear everything?”

”Yeah, I heard,” An Shuchao sighed deeply and said, ”It’s for the best! This was bound to happen to him sooner or later. With death, there is relief!”

”Don’t be sad. You rest and recover at home, and I’ll go handle this with Erzhuzi.”

”Alright.”

An Baoguo’s funeral was entirely arranged by An Ping; even at the point of death, he couldn’t rely on his own son.

The funeral was simple.
