Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1965: Chapter 1958: What Trick Are You Playing?

”Money? It seems like I’m the one who should be asking you for money, right? You’ve rented my house, isn’t it time to pay the rent?” Yuan Yunong’s soft voice sounded.

With her voice, An Hao’s heart jumped to his throat.

”An Hao, what tricks are you up to?” Jiang Guixiang said, holding her child at the door, ”Don’t think that by bringing someone new, I will open the door. Do you really think I’m so easily fooled?”

Yuan Yunong rolled her eyes and said helplessly, ”I’m your landlord, Yuan Yunong!”

”Never heard of your name, our house was rented from someone named Li Zheng.”

”Li Zheng is my friend! This house is mine, I asked him to rent it out for me, please open the door now. If you don’t open it, it doesn’t matter, I have a key. I just need to collect some things from home and leave. As for the rent, if you don’t have the money now, I can give you a month’s extension.” Yuan Yunong said calmly.

”Don’t you have a key? Then just open the door and come in yourself.” If he could open the door with the key, Jiang Guixiang would believe she’s not someone brought by An Hao.

Yuan Yunong lowered her head, opened her bag, and pulled out a set of keys from her pocket, which looked quite old.

The edges of the keys were worn down, and they looked smooth and well-used.

She inserted the key into the lock, turned it to the right, and with a click, the door unlocked.

Yuan Yunong pushed open the door and walked in, casting a sweeping glance around the room.

On the sofa sat a sallow, emaciated man, appearing terminally ill.

The woman held a child in her arms, who looked listless, with little pink cheeks still wet with tears.

He clearly hadn’t cried less earlier.

”Are you really the landlord?” Jiang Guixiang asked warily, eyeing Yuan Yunong.

But Yuan Yunong ignored her, glanced back at the kicked-in door panel and the nearly broken lock, and pouted in dissatisfaction: ”Look what you’ve done to my good door?”

Jiang Guixiang had been suspicious of this Yuan Yunong, but after hearing her say this, her concerns were mostly dispelled.

However, Yuan Yunong didn’t seem to plan on stopping there; she wandered through the rooms and finally returned to the living room.

When she spoke again, there was a hint of disdain on her face: ”My house wasn’t like this when I rented it to you, was it? It hasn’t even been a year. Look what you’ve done to my place! Especially the kitchen, can you even step in there with all that filth? It seems I really need to consider raising your rent! Or you could just move to another place!”

If it had been before, Jiang Guixiang would have been unhappy in her heart; she wasn’t one who could stand others speaking ill of her at all.

But this time, hearing Yuan Yunong say this, she didn’t feel upset, instead, she felt a bit relieved: ”We’re sorry for leaving your house like this. It’s okay, once we have the money, we’ll definitely compensate you more.”

”Yes, yes. We didn’t mean it, really, it’s okay. When we leave, we can even go over the walls again with you...” An Baoguo echoed beside her.

”Forget it, I didn’t come to discuss this with you today.” Yuan Yunong waved her hand, then said to Jiang Guixiang, ”Come over here, help me with something!”
