Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1974: Chapter 1967: The Secret Overheard

In the northeast corner of the lobby downstairs, An Hui ordered a pot of wine and a small dish, slowly savoring the taste.

After a while, the waitress came beside him, glanced left and right, then quickly bent over and said to him, ”I heard some things, but I don’t know if it’s what you need.”

”Go ahead! Tell me everything you heard, useful or not, I won’t shortchange you a penny!” An Hui said.

”Okay, after I finish work, let’s find a place to chat in private.”

By the time the gathering ended, it was already ten at night.

After the Nanguofeng Restaurant closed, the waitress came to the place they agreed upon.

It was a small park on the street.

There weren’t many people around at night, and it was very quiet.

An Hui waited beside a bench at the park entrance, saw the waitress coming in, and quickly stood up to wave at her, ”Here.”

The waitress walked over, and without saying anything unnecessary, they directly started the conversation about the intelligence.

”Tell me everything you know.” An Hui said.

”When I first started serving inside, they were very cautious! They basically didn’t talk about anything related to intelligence. Later, after serving the dishes, I stood outside the door eavesdropping, and vaguely heard them mention a ’Zero Number Weapon.’ ” the waitress said.

”Great! An Hui knew that the most needed information by Hou Zicheng right now was about this ’Zero Number Weapon’, he had mentioned it before! He once told him that if he wanted to gather information, the most valuable intel now was about new weapon research! He didn’t expect to be lucky today and actually heard some info about weapons...”

The waitress told An Hui all the bits and pieces she heard.

After listening, An Hui was very pleased. She took out two hundred yuan from her pocket, and told the waitress, ”You did a fantastic job! Although the info wasn’t complete, I’ve bought everything you heard today! Keep an eye out for more in this area in the future, as much as you can gather, I will take!”

The waitress only earned two hundred yuan a month, and upon realizing that just eavesdropping on a few words could earn her so much money, she was overjoyed.

She quickly put the money away, stuffing it into her pocket, ”I understand! I hope we can cooperate happily in the future!”

With the information in hand, An Hui was so excited that he quickly went to sell it to Hou Zicheng.

When he knocked on Hou Zicheng’s door, the housekeeper told him that Boss Hou was out of town for a few days.

If he needed to find Boss Hou, he would have to come back in a few days.

Hearing this, An Hui was very frustrated, but he had no choice, Hou was the only one to take the information.

If he didn’t sell it to Hou, who else could he sell it to?

But he desperately needed money now; his father’s illness had reached a point where treatment was no longer an option, and his condition was worsening.

The pain caused by the spread of cancer cells could only be alleviated by painkillers, and doctors had no other solutions.

His mother was in prison, and his father’s time was running short; before he passed, An Hui wanted to earn more money so his father could have a few good meals and fulfill his filial duties!

A few days ago, when visiting his mother in prison, her wish was that if the father really couldn’t hold on, he hoped his son could buy a good coffin for him and bury him gloriously in the village.

For this wish, An Hui had to come up with the money.
