Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1973: Chapter 1966: Is This the Real Father?

”Drinking a bit of alcohol, and you come up with all sorts of ideas!” Feng Yuzhi glared at him, ”You two are getting older, drink less!”

”There are always talented people in every generation! I’m old and not up to it anymore, but Yan Ye can! Come on, if you can drink, then drink, don’t just sit around! You each take three shots with Qin Jian, and three with An Hao!” Yan Luquan commanded.

Yan Ye: ”...” Is this my real dad?

Who sets up their own son like this in just a few days?

Other dads worry their sons will drink too much, but old Yan fears his son won’t get drunk.

”Don’t listen to your dad, let’s just enjoy the meal with the whole family reunited, no need to drink,” Feng Yuzhi chimed in.

”Okay. Let’s listen to Auntie. There’s an important meeting to attend tomorrow morning, going reeking of alcohol wouldn’t be good,” Qin Jian said.

”Right, I heard there’s some kind of expert coming over for an evaluation tomorrow?” Yan Luquan asked.

Just this year, Yan Luquan retired, and his deputy commander position was handed over, so he’s not as in-the-know about military matters anymore.

”Yes.” Qin Jian nodded and continued, ”Everyone heard about the ordnance factory thing a while ago, right?”

”The research on ’Zero’ Weapon?” Yan Luquan asked.

”Yes. I heard they’re coming to gather some data... the exact details aren’t clear to us either!” Qin Jian replied.

”When will this weapon be launched?” Lin Qiushu asked casually, listening intently.

”Why, are you interested in this?” Yan Ye smiled, glancing at his wife.

”Can’t I ask? In this family, your dad and sister, and you are all in the military. In the future, I need to know more about military matters to chat with you guys.” Lin Qiushu said.

”That’s not something I know. But this time, during my army command training, I overheard fellow soldiers chatting about it. They said the international community is paying great attention to this. All countries are intensifying their research, so if it comes to the market, I don’t think it will be too long!”

”How long are we talking? One year? Or two?” Lin Qiushu pressed.

”I’m not an expert at the ordnance factory, I can’t answer that for you.” Qin Jian chuckled.

”Then why are you digging so much into it? These topics are so dry and boring!” Yan Huan interjected.

”Just asking for fun? Expanding my knowledge a bit.” The circle she’s in is all about business, and after a while, it gets tiresome.

An Hao wasn’t the slightest bit interested in these discussions. She focused on picking out fish bones and feeding the tender fish meat to the two little ones.

She didn’t pay any attention to their conversation.

Ning Yibin saw their topic getting deeper and deeper and clapped his hands, quickly stopping them: ”Alright, stop talking about it, anymore and you’ll be leaking secrets!”

”Uncle Ning, we’re behind closed doors talking about this. Outside, our lips are sealed tight, we wouldn’t let slip a word.” Yan Ye, having grown up in a military family, knew the confidentiality rules like the back of his hand.

Ning Yibin raised an eyebrow at Yan Ye’s words: ”What did you just call me?”

”Uncle Ning...” After saying it, Yan Ye realized his mistake and quickly corrected himself, ”I’ve been calling you Uncle for over thirty years, it’s a bit hard to get used to suddenly calling you Aunt’s husband!”

His words sparked a burst of laughter from everyone, making the atmosphere at the dining table even more cheerful.
