Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1988: Chapter 1981: Don’t Leave Me and the Child

Qin Jian didn’t say a word.

”Shuangshuang, I see the leader’s face doesn’t look good, could it be...” Tian Niu looked at Gu Shuangshuang’s gloomy face and swallowed the rest of his words.

”Hurry up! Let’s quickly follow and see what happened.” Gu Shuangshuang urged.

Tian Niu put Ning Chenguang down from his shoulder, held him tightly in his arms, and quickly followed.

Qin Jian could never forget the Lantern Festival of that year.

On the dark road intersecting with the brightly lit South Street, layers of people surrounded the scene tightly.

Qin Jian struggled to push through the crowd, and when he saw the two people lying on the cold ground, his pupils contracted, his heart was struck hard, and the blood in his body froze instantly.

The people lying on the ground were none other than his wife, An Hao, and his father-in-law, An Shuchao.

The two of them lay silently in a pool of blood, as the falling snow grew larger, covering them with a thin layer of white.

”An Hao—!”

”Dad—!”

Qin Jian and An Ping let out a simultaneous roar.

Gu Shuangshuang and Tian Niu also arrived at this moment, their faces turning white with fear at the sight of the two people on the ground.

Gu Shuangshuang wanted to call out An Hao’s name, but found her throat felt as if it was tightly choked, unable to produce even the slightest sound.

Except for two streams of hot tears continuously falling.

”Mom! I want mom...”

”Waa waa... mom...”

Ning Chenyang and Ning Chenguang seemed to sense the atmosphere, seeing An Hao lying unmoving on the cold ground, the two children cried and shouted for their mother.

”Take care of the children for me!” Qin Jian thrust the crying Ning Chenyang into Tian Niu’s arms, ”Send them home!”

”What about you, leader? Sister-in-law, what do we do?” Tian Niu asked with reddened eyes.

”That’s none of your concern! Take them home, that’s an order!” Qin Jian roared, the veins on his neck bulging.

This was the first time Tian Niu had seen such a terrifying expression on him in so many years.

”Yes!” Tian Niu held back tears, turned his head towards Gu Shuangshuang, and said, ”Let’s go, go home!”

”No, I’m not leaving!” Gu Shuangshuang finally managed to utter a sound, shaking her head vehemently, tears flying through the air, ”I want to see Hao, I want to see her!”

”The leader and An Ping are here! We need to take care of the children!” Tian Niu shouted.

”No, I’m not leaving! You take Nannan back, I want to see Hao, I want to go to the hospital with her, I can’t leave her alone on this cold ground.” Gu Shuangshuang said, her emotions starting to spiral out of control.

Nannan, frightened by her mother, also broke into a loud cry: ”Mom... Mom...”

”Shuangshuang!” Tian Niu said forcefully through tears, ”Listen to me! Don’t make trouble, you know that sister-in-law worries most about the kids! Let’s take care of them and send them home first, then I’ll go with you to the hospital, okay?”

”Okay.” Gu Shuangshuang nodded continuously, tears seemingly out of control, flowing endlessly.

Tian Niu left with Gu Shuangshuang.

Qin Jian half-knelt on the ground, holding An Hao in his arms, seeing her whole face stained red with blood, his heart felt as if it had been dug out, hollow, numb, and in pain!

”An Hao, hang in there! Someone’s gone to call an ambulance, the car will be here soon, you mustn’t leave! You can’t leave me and the kids, Qin Jian can’t live without you in this life, and the kids can’t live without their mom either...” Qin Jian mumbled with trembling lips, tears slowly sliding down the corners of his eyes.
