Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1972: Chapter 1965: Is Promotion Considered a Good Thing

It’s been a long time since they last met, and An Hao and Yan Ye, the teacher and student duo, couldn’t stop talking once they saw each other.

The main focus of their conversation was naturally Yan Ye’s hand.

”Mr. Yan, how’s your hand? It’s been almost a year; you must be mostly recovered by now?”

Seeing An Hao so concerned, Yan Ye didn’t hide anything: ”Returning to the previous state is very difficult. I’m afraid when it comes to fine surgeries, I might not...”

”That’s such a pity.” An Hao felt deeply sorry for Yan Ye. He must have gone through a lot of mental struggles this past year.

”It’s okay. I’ve come to terms with it. From now on, my focus at work will be teaching and educating people!” Yan Ye said, lifting the corners of his mouth into a smile with a dash of carefree spirit.

”That’s good. What I worry about the most is your state of mind! Seeing you so open-minded now puts me at ease too!” An Hao said.

”You two stop chatting and come take your seats!” Lin Qiushu instructed.

The table was laden with a sumptuous feast, complete with chicken, duck, fish, and meat.

Everyone at the table raised their glasses to welcome Yan Ye and Lin Qiushu, wishing them a sweet life together with a blessing for early offspring.

Qin Jian, An Hao, and Yan Huan formed an alliance, drinking with the couple from all sides.

They poured out blessings one after another, until the couple couldn’t handle it and repeatedly begged for mercy.

”Alright, I give up.” Lin Qiushu knew that if they continued drinking like this, she and Yan Ye would end up knocked out here today, so she quickly changed the subject, ”Let’s not just talk about us. Have you two had any good news recently?”

”Good news?” An Hao snorted, ”We’ve been having one bad thing after another lately! What good news could there possibly be?”

”No good news? How could that be?” Yan Huan interjected, ”Didn’t Commander Qin spend a year studying at the Army Command College? Isn’t that good news?”

”What kind of good news is that? As far as I’m concerned, it was this matter that made us, husband and wife, be apart for a year.” An Hao said.

”Some people just don’t realize their good fortune when they have it.” Yan Huan glanced at An Hao and said, ”Everyone knows clearly that Commander Qin is being groomed for a promotion!”

”Really? Well, congratulations to you then!” Yan Ye said with a smile, ”Most of your achievements today are thanks to your own efforts, but the other half is because you have An Hao, the wise helpmate. So the military honors are half yours and half hers. For this, shouldn’t the two of you have a drink together?”

”These things haven’t even come to fruition yet. Why are you both making such a fuss?” Qin Jian said with a faint smile.

”Who says we’re just fussing? We’re congratulating you!” Yan Ye said.

”Since it’s congratulations, will you have a drink with me then?” Bringing the topic back around, Qin Jian got Yan Ye into the drinking again.

”You’ve really dug a pit for me; I stepped right into it without realizing,” Yan Ye said helplessly.

”Come on, then, how about a toast?”

”You guys should take it easy, know when to stop.” Ning Yibin intervened to prevent them from drinking too much.

”Young people! If you want to drink, just drink a bit, it’s no big deal! When we were young, we often got drunk!” Yan Luquan laughed.

”That was you getting drunk, not me!” Ning Yibin quickly waved his hands.

”Fine fine, let’s say it was me, alright?” Yan Luquan admitted to loving drink, but then added, ”Liking to drink isn’t a bad thing! Look at the heroes of the past, didn’t they all have a drink to strengthen their resolve before heading into battle?”
