Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1975: Chapter 1968: Leak Secrets

The next morning, Qin Jian went to attend an important meeting.

However, while they arrived on time, the experts from the armory did not.

Earlier, they had said they encountered some trouble on the road and might only arrive later in the afternoon.

But Qin Jian and the others waited all afternoon, and the expected experts never came.

In the evening, Zhang Jianguo finally received the news and said to Qin Jian and the others, “Everyone can go home! They won’t be coming!”

“Why?” Qin Jian frowned slightly. “Even if they are senior experts, they shouldn’t break their word like this! We’ve been waiting half a day for them!”

“It’s not that they’ve broken their word! The information was leaked!” Zhang Jianguo’s brow furrowed tightly.

Qin Jian’s heart sank, his expression changing subtly.

Could it be that someone overheard their discussion yesterday?

If that’s the case, then this is troublesome!

“Nowadays, spies are everywhere! Many people are looking to pry into our country’s secrets! They infiltrate various fields, the military, aerospace, missile systems… We must remain vigilant everywhere, or who knows how much trouble we’ll cause for the National Security Bureau!” Zhang Jianguo lamented deeply. “And that female soldier, Gan Tian, from your regiment, has been isolated and investigated for so long and hasn’t been released yet. I reckon the charges against her are already quite solid.”

At this moment, Qin Jian couldn’t listen to Zhang Jianguo’s lament any longer; he was eager to return and investigate the matter.

He needed to find out who leaked the information, and whether it was them!

“Commander, I’m heading back!” Qin Jian bid farewell to Zhang Jianguo.

“Why leave so early? There’s nothing happening today, stay a bit longer and play a couple of games with me?” Zhang Jianguo had recently improved greatly in chess, feeling an urge to play more games.

“You play by yourself; I’m leaving.” Qin Jian, preoccupied with the issue at hand, couldn’t engage in more conversation with Zhang Jianguo. He gave him a military salute and quickly turned to leave.

“This kid is acting strangely today!” Zhang Jianguo muttered to himself. “But then again, he hasn’t seen his wife in over a year; of course, he would hurry back to be with his family!”

He chuckled, expressing his understanding of Qin Jian’s emotions.

However, thinking about Qin Jian leaving him to play by himself made Zhang Jianguo bitter.

If I could play two games by myself, would I need to ask you?

…

In the evening, autumn rain began to fall, gently tapping down as the withered leaves were washed to the ground.

Deep autumn had arrived, and winter was coming!

When Qin Jian returned home, Ning Yibin was playing with the children, while An Hao sat beside the sofa learning to knit with Zhang Yun.

Seeing Qin Jian return, Zhang Yun put down her yarn and stood up, “You’re back so late today! Quick, wash your hands, it’s time for dinner!”

“Mom, you all eat first. I have something to discuss with Dad!” Qin Jian said, signaling Ning Yibin with his eyes to have a talk in the study.

“Good children! Go wash your hands and eat with grandma and mom, grandpa and dad will join shortly!” Ning Yibin handed the two children to Zhang Yun and An Hao, then followed Qin Jian into the study.

The door shut with a thud, and the father and son began their secret discussion.

“As soon as they come back, they have a talk! What are they discussing that we’re excluded from? So secretive!” Zhang Yun said while serving the meal.
