Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1895: Chapter 1896: Little Tricks

Tian Niu suddenly turned around and looked toward the source of the voice, only to see a wonton stall not far from him, with Gan Tian sitting beside it, smiling at him.

”Gan Tian!!” Tian Niu was very surprised and quickly stepped forward to face her, ”Why aren’t you at the base? How come you’re here?”

”This is my hometown! Captain Tian, why are you here?” Hong Mei feigned surprise.

”Don’t call me Captain Tian. Just call me by my name.” Tian Niu lowered his voice, saying, ”I’m here on a secret mission!”

”Secret mission? What secret mission?” Hong Mei inquired about this secret mission.

”I can’t tell you that.” Tian Niu waved his hand quickly, ”That’s all I can tell you, saying more would be leaking information.

Hong Mei smiled, patted the stool beside her: ”Captain, come sit down and have a bowl of wontons before you go back! My treat.”

Tian Niu looked at the time: ”No, I need to return to the unit! In an hour and a half, it’s time to change shifts.”

”Just eat a bowl of wontons, it won’t take much time.” Hong Mei raised her hand and firmly held onto Tian Niu’s sleeve, indicating for him to sit down.

”Gan Tian, let’s skip this time, maybe next time.” Tian Niu had no heart for a meal today.

He was hoping to return swiftly and send these things to his wife and child.

Tian Niu broke free from Hong Mei’s grasp and turned to leave.

”Tian... wait.” Hong Mei called out to him, seeing Tian Niu not turning back, she grew anxious and stood up quickly, attempting to grab Tian Niu’s sleeve again.

Her legs were still somewhat inconvenient, and unexpectedly she missed, falling short.

”Ouch!” she exclaimed, falling to the ground.

Hearing the sound behind him, Tian Niu stopped his footsteps and quickly turned around to look.

He saw Gan Tian struggling on the ground, trying hard to get up.

Her hands were supporting her upper body, one leg seemingly hesitant to exert, seeing this, Tian Niu immediately went forward to help her: ”Gan Tian, what’s wrong with you?”

”You finally noticed my leg.” Hong Mei pouted, pretending to be wronged, ”I went out on the street a while ago, got hit by a car, broke my leg, had no choice but to come home to recuperate. Today is my first time out...”

”Look, if you didn’t tell me I wouldn’t have known!” Tian Niu’s face was full of apology, ”I’ll help you up to sit.”

Hong Mei chose a stool and sat down, not waiting for Tian Niu to speak, she took the initiative to order two bowls of wontons.

”Gan Tian, I really have things to do today...”

Tian Niu was about to refuse again, but Hong Mei interrupted him: ”I want to talk to you about your wife and child, if you don’t want to listen, you can leave now.”

”What’s wrong with Shuangshuang and the child?” Indeed, this was the most touching topic for Tian Niu.

Hong Mei sighed, shook her head and said: ”While you were away, they haven’t been doing very well...”

”What? What’s wrong with them?” Tian Niu’s face was filled with tension and worry.

”Don’t rush. Your wife is mainly in a bad mood, you see, she doesn’t know where you went or what you’re doing, how can her mood be good?” Hong Mei tried hard to bring the topic back, having finally met Tian Niu, she had to dig something out.

”This... it’s really hard for me to explain. There are rules in the unit, I can’t tell her about these...” Tian Niu said gloomily.
