Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1878: Chapter 1878: To Do or Not to Do

The wad of money was thick, clearly not a small amount. An Hui knew that once he took it, it would last him for a while.

But what would happen when the money ran out?

The man in front of him seemed truly wealthy. Maybe he wasn’t lying, perhaps he could really help.

”I’ll go with you.” An Hui grabbed the wad of money and stuffed it into his pocket. ”I trust you.”

Hou Zicheng smiled, ”Get in the car!”

The car stopped in front of a small villa. Hou Zicheng got out and led An Hui inside.

As he stepped through the door, An Hui felt like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden.

The life here was completely unfamiliar and new to him.

For the first time, he understood what truly wealthy people live like.

”Take a seat.” Hou Zicheng opened the liquor cabinet and took out a bottle of red wine. ”Try it, I brought it back from Hong Kong.”

Two glasses of crimson liquid were placed in front of them. As he held the cold stem of the glass, he felt his blood boiling.

He no longer wanted to be a rogue. He wanted to be a wealthy person like this, living in a villa, sipping red wine, and enjoying life.

”How does it taste?” Hou Zicheng observed the changes in An Hui’s demeanor but remained impassive.

”Excellent!” An Hui put down the glass and stopped beating around the bush with Hou Zicheng. ”Boss Hou, you’re very wealthy! I want to make money with you, I hope you can take me under your wing.”

”You want to make money? Sure! But you have to honestly tell me, what’s your relationship with the commander of the Northern Military Region?” Hou Zicheng began to dig deeper.

”What’s the connection with that?” An Hui didn’t quite understand why Boss Hou asked him this question.

”A very big connection.”

”Since that’s the case, I’ll tell you the truth.” An Hui began to recount all the events that had transpired between him and An Hao recently, including why the commander had deployed an entire reconnaissance battalion to surround the hospital.

”I see. If that’s your relationship, then it’s going to be difficult for you to make money with me...”

”What do you mean by that?” An Hui was puzzled, ”What kind of business are you in? Does it depend on my relationship with my family?”

”Yes.” Hou Zicheng nodded solemnly, ”This business makes a lot of money. But, first, you have to be willing to do it. Second, you have to be brave enough to do it. Third, you need resources to do it.”

”I’m willing. As long as it makes money fast, I’m certainly willing and brave enough to do it, but I don’t understand what resources Boss Hou is referring to?”

Seeing that he had piqued An Hui’s curiosity, Hou Zicheng decided to be direct: ”Intelligence work.”

”Intelligence work?” It was An Hui’s first time hearing about such a job.

”Exactly! You need to go out and gather intelligence. Remember, we only want military intelligence. Bring it to me, and I’ll pay you.” Hou Zicheng explained.

An Hui was shocked for a long time: ”You can sell this for money?”

Hou Zicheng nodded.

”How much?” An Hui asked.

”That depends on the value of the intelligence.”

After Hou Zicheng finished speaking, seeing An Hui remain silent for a while, he asked again, ”So, do you understand the nature of this work?”

”I understand. It’s basically espionage.”

Hou Zicheng frowned, ”So, do you want to do it or not?”

”Of course, I want to do it!” He couldn’t even afford to eat, living like a stray dog,

what room was there for patriotism?
