Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1865: Chapter 1865: This is what you owe me

Gan Tian used her skills learned in the military to deal with Hong Mei. The training a communications female soldier receives is far inferior to that of a specially trained international military spy.

She was captured alive almost within a minute.

”Do you have any last words for me?” Hong Mei pulled out a syringe from her pocket, flicked off the needle cap with a push of her finger, and aimed it at Gan Tian’s neck.

”You... will not die a good death,” Gan Tian shouted.

Immediately, a sharp pain came from her neck. Gan Tian’s body convulsed, her breathing became rapid, and darkness crept over her eyes.

Her eyes widened, she struggled a bit, and then completely lost her movement.

Hong Mei let go, and Gan Tian’s body fell to the ground with a thud. Looking at the beautiful eyes filled with tears, she slowly said, ”Gan Tian, this is what you owe me! Also, I am telling you this: fifteen years ago today is the day you abandoned me.”

......

The sun rose slowly from the east, and Hong Mei carried Li out from the small wooden house.

She was dressed in green military uniform, with a military hat on her head and a sweet smile on her face.

The warm sunlight shone on her body, feeling warm and extremely comfortable. At this moment, she felt like she was Gan Tian, and life in her was like the grass swaying gently in the spring breeze, budding, growing...

According to what Gan Tian had said earlier, she had taken a twenty-day leave, so now she had one day to go home to see her parents.

After so many years, she didn’t know how things were at home.

She wanted to go back and take a look, to see her hometown that she missed day and night.

Hong Mei bought a ticket and returned to her old home in Hexi Village.

Many places she remembered were gone, only the old road remained unchanged.

Following her memory, Hong Mei stopped in front of a dilapidated house. Withered climbing vines covered the walls, and it looked very desolate from the outside.

The door was open, and Hong Mei gently pushed it in, hoping to surprise her family.

As she walked into the courtyard, she heard murmuring from the northern room.

”Child’s father! It’s today again! Every year on this day, I cry my heart out! I really don’t want to go through this day, I don’t want to!”

”Wife! It’s been fifteen years. If you keep remembering like this, you’re just torturing yourself!”

”I can’t forget! I really can’t forget! All I want to know now is if my Xiaomeng is still alive? My poor Tiantian almost lost her life just to exchange candy beans for her sister...”

”Wife! Don’t be like this. Xiaomeng will definitely find a good family, and Tiantian’s head was injured. She burned with fever for three days shouting Xiaomeng’s name. Heaven is not so cruel after all, Tiantian managed to keep her life, and although she forgot the past, that’s for the best! Forgetting Xiaomeng, she can live more freely!”

Suddenly, Hong Mei felt as if her chest was hammered hard, pain radiating through her entire body...

Looking at the threshold so close, she suddenly didn’t have the courage to step over it.

Hong Mei took several deep breaths, abruptly turned around, and almost fled in haste.

Was she wrong?

Was she wrong?

Hong Mei gritted her teeth and told herself: No! No, she wasn’t!

.........

On the last day of the holiday, Gan Tian, or rather, Hong Mei, returned to her team as planned.
