Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1884: Chapter 1884: Being a Military Wife is Not Easy

”Mm.” An Hao nodded heavily.

Although his wife agreed, Qin Jian still felt uneasy. Before leaving, he reported the matter to the National Security Bureau.

The National Security Bureau increased manpower and resources, vowing to capture all the espionage elements in Nancheng City.

............

After the Spring Festival, Qin Jian went directly back to the Army Command College.

Tian Niu received transfer orders, signed by the military headquarters, sending him to a place called Xixiang.

On the day he received the notification, Tian Niu went home to pack things and left. The pressure from above was intense, and he had no way out. Despite his wife crying until her eyes were red, he could offer only comfort, no promises.

The higher-ups didn’t clarify what the mission was, only that a battalion’s strength was drawn to guard a secret place.

This place was once an abandoned munitions factory.

But Tian Niu already knew, Qin Jian had inquired for him, the place they were to guard was precisely the Arms Research Institute.

Because, overnight, many people entered the country. The superiors welcomed this, possibly related to those who steal military intelligence, so they were quietly transferred to this place.

This is a secret mission.

After the transfer, another battalion’s force was deployed, exactly where Tian Niu’s battalion was located.

Because this battalion’s military quality is excellent, and their combat strength cannot be underestimated, they were drafted over.

Everyone who came here signed a confidentiality agreement.

If even a whisper of information leaks, they would face court-martial!

............

Two months after Tian Niu left the camp, in the blooming month of March, willow branches budded green, and grass was flourishing.

In the blink of an eye, Nannan was six months old, Gu Shuangshuang took her for a walk downstairs.

Unintentionally, they ran into Lin Miao and Gan Tian.

”Sister-in-law! Taking the child out for a walk?” Lin Miao greeted Gu Shuangshuang warmly.

”Yes. The weather is warm, so I brought Nannan out to enjoy the scenery.” Gu Shuangshuang said with a smile.

”You have such good fortune, sister-in-law. Not only married a good husband but also had a lovely daughter.” Gan Tian said with a smile.

”Good fortune?” Gu Shuangshuang smiled bitterly. ”When you get married later, don’t marry a soldier, all business, no time for family.”

”Sister-in-law, to be honest, I really want to marry a soldier. I love the military, and I hope my other half is also one.” Lin Miao said with a slightly embarrassed smile.

”Being a military spouse is not easy.” Gu Shuangshuang deeply knew this.

Because she deeply loves Tian Niu, she was willing to endure this loneliness.

But she was unwilling to resign to this loneliness.

”Yes.” Lin Miao nodded, bent down, gently pinched Nannan’s small cheek, and sighed, ”The baby is so beautiful, Captain Tian must be very fond of her, right? I bet Captain Tian must hold his daughter every day and never let go, right?”

”Him? He hasn’t been home for two months. Even if he loves his daughter, it’s pointless! I can’t count on him at all.” Gu Shuangshuang said gloomily.

”Hasn’t been home for two months?” Lin Miao was puzzled. ”Did Captain Tian take the troops on a training exercise?”

”That I don’t know. Maybe.” Gu Shuangshuang answered vaguely.

She only knew that Tian had been reassigned to carry out a secret mission.

Since it was a secret mission, it would not be appropriate to discuss it with others.

So she timely withheld her words.

After parting, Lin Miao said to Gan Tian, ”You’ve been performing well lately. You’ve truly hidden that affection in your heart. I can see you are more composed in front of the sister-in-law than before. Hearing the news that Captain Tian is away, you don’t seem as anxious as before.”
